- For the past week and a half at Teahupo’o, in a range of surf conditions, a super eclectic bunch of surfers have been working their ways toward peak form - trying to set themselves for one of the great events of their lives. Some of this crew are world professional champions, some are virtual newcomers to this level of competitive skill. Most are somewhere in between. All will soon be surfing in the Olympic Games round one heats. Here’s a look at some of the intensity on show prior to competition. See if you can pick the form - and hear from some of the spectators out here at the End of the Road, as they assess what they’re seeing and wonder who’s going to wear the gold.
The waiting period begins Saturday, July 27. Here’s how and where to watch. www.surfline.c...
And here’s a glimpse into the future for this superlative surf zone: The regularly updated Teahupo’o daily forecast. www.surfline.c...

Thanks to the Tahitians to lend their wave for the Olympics. Respect and love from Lyon.
Crazy to see Felipe's stuntman in that barrel.
Lo acaba de dejar atrás un peruano 🤙😎🇵🇪
Come on now... he's gotten a barrel before. In a wave pool
Felipe is no.1 world champ are you?
JJF is a magician. That take off!! 0:59
Barrel riding does not get more technical than that, wow.
Even if it's small like this, it's still gonna be a heaps better event than last year. Excited to see some waves!
U mean 2021?
So proud of you Alan! Go Mexico!🇲🇽
Surfing is an amazing sport and it's so great to have in the Olympics.
Nobody cares ...
@cy-villian it doesn't matter, it's still fun to watch 🎉
Go John John!! Go for gold!!
GO Team USA! JJF for GOLD!
That's team Hawaii brah.
A code red would be amazing for thr Olympics.
Not happening unfortunately
😂
And if my grandmother had 2 wheels she'd be a bicycle. No sense in wondering about what ifs that won't happen.
Then the girls would be out
It's been years I'm saying it, competitors refusing to go because it's too big would be hilarious. But as others stated, it's unlikely.
John the maestro makes it look so easy..
I was choked about Chianca’s drop.
Same here buddy. That guy is insane!
Wow, showing one wave of Jack and no Ethan. Really generous seppos that run Surfline.
01:01 JJF’s wave🤯🔥
Connor O'leary: Team Japan
Kioshi Watanabe: Team Ireland
🤣😂🤣
This is brilliant. Thanks
JJF will win it. Although, Medina's got a shot, if he can stay out of the air.
Chianca is pretty strong on barrels too
If this video was the Olympics, John John wins
missed Matt McGillivray. so much talent at the Olympics
Jao cianca backside Jon Jon forehand for sure the best two waves in the session

Nice work drilling in to the reef....
Best preview vídeo to a surf comp .... Why cant wsl do nothing like this?
They do do nothing like this.
Vamos alan!
Alan Cleland 🇲🇽 from Tecomán Colima!!!!!!🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽
🇧🇷セレソンカラーリングのガブリエル優勝オシャレ!
those olympic boardshorts not looking too hot rn
They gonna score from a boat in the channel? All they’ll see from the inside reef is foam! I hope nobody gets hurt or killed. Gonna be some carnage.
John John Florence for the win
There are many nations participating in the Olympics, yet I am a bit frustrated and bored to see that we are always showcasing the same people and the same nations once again, how about the other ones, it would be interesting to know their names and to watch them surfing although they are not as good as a JJ or a Gabriel that we've watched billions of times, no offence!
Steep drop, instant barrel, then emerge through the spray...how are they going to pick the winner?
meh... I expected some surfers from other countries that haven't had as much exposure as the ones shown in the video. mix it up a bit, this is, after all supposed to be The Olympics, not WSL.
they probably didnt get a wave lol
Baby chopes
Really ecologically spirit!!!!
You can argue about the tower over the coral reef, but it's still better than the French destroying the area with nuclear tests.
Kanao😍
cant wait to see the chinease taking off on 8 footers lol!
Griffin Colonpinto wins for USA!!! GOATED
Kauli will walk this and Vahini too
What time does Saturday start when you are on the other side of the world? Did I miss it?
Forza leonardoooo
Where can i watch online?
Chianca and JJ charging hardest
USA for gold. Australia for silver and maybe Brazil for bronze if they stop trying to do lame airs
What time does this event start for eastern standard time ?
JJF won already with that first wave
Either Gabriel or Filipe or Chianca. Vai Brasil!!!
i love surfing it is my favourite thing I am obsessed!! 🥹
Look like the left at Rockies 😂
After the opening ceremony.... well.... hmmmm...... what the hell did it have to do with sports and unifying people.....
That's solid 2ft in tahitian. Sounds about right.... Das rill smahhh brahhh
The slow I is annoying
the surfing vid would be 3-5 secs and u can't see it clearly if its not slowed mygosh 🙄
Nul la musique
Olas pequeñas
This year is 50/50 men and women - why is there so much male focus in this video? Would love more screen time for the ladies ripping.
Oh that over forced push to jjf
No problem, he´s NOT gonna win it
haha the two Japanese surfers aren't from there! It's all about making many for the corporations - lame!
@@chriscochrane-m7w the woman surfing for Japan is. She has been out there putting in the time all season. Depending on the draw she could well make the quarters.
Connor and kanoa taking spots from real japanese is wrong@@kyledexheimer6548
What do you do for money? How "core" is it?
@@david-cp2bz it doesn't really matter what he does for money, in Kanoa's case it was a shrewd market decision. Despite being raised in America, he was just another big fish in a big pond, by switching his flag to japan and being japanese he got way more sponsorship opportunities than he would have otherwise and guaranteed his olympic berth for at least 2 olympics. Also I would be hesitant to describe Kanoa as "Core" out of anyone on tour he loves competing the most and would be least likely to keep surfing if there was no money involved.
Similarly Erin Brooks, Tatiana, Luana all getting to surf under other flags is trying to escape the competitive monster that is US women's competitive dominance and get their spots for the olympics.
@@david-cp2bz My last job was the golf coach at Carpinteria High School. But I was way better as a volleyball coach and English teacher which I did for 30 years. That was after being a pro beach player.
John John for the win !!!!!!
