This interesting chunk of Laguna agate came from my local rock shop in Austin, Nature’s Treasures. With it being so rough is there any way it will tumble and polish nicely?
You need to make the trip one day. The shop is moving to a new location very soon due to I35 expansion downtown. It will be just a little north along I35.
There is a rock shop near lake Livingston that I need to hit. I visited one in Willis Texas that as odd...not really that many rocks but the old guy there has tons of great information about all sorts of rock related subjects plus out front on the walk up is one of the biggest pieces of Alibates flint I've ever seen. He was gifted it long before it was turned into a preserve.
Great final result! So many different rocks named laguna, it gets confusing! I have gotten laguna from Nature’s Treasures before but it was before I knew what to look for in a good tumbler…ended up with a ton of host rock on it. I am going to guess that your laguna is akin and maybe interchangeable with parcelas agate. All of these agates come from Chihuahua, Mexico. I am currently tumbling some laguna lace agate…lol.
I have questions? Have you ever cut a stone you have already tumbled? I ask because i was wondering what the agate you just cut, would look like, if you cut it. The banding on both sides are so awesome., It just makes you wonder whats in the middle? And how it looks cut after polishing? Im sorry 😞 to many questions😮
I love the imperfections! Definitely gives it character.
Sometimes when it’s to perfect, they look fake.
Great job Scott ✌️🫶😃
Thanks Kendra! And thank you for the feedback 😁
It took a great polish!
I'm starting to ike the rough spots on a perfectly polished stone. You're right, it does give it character
It does, plus it is easier because I don’t have to tumble them as long in order to make them perfect!😆
Found a rock like that and until now didn't know it is an Laguna Agate. Thanks
That’s awesome that you were able to find one. I have to buy mine 😢. Good job!
Great job nice polish. Beautiful agate.
Thank you so much for watching!😁

Thanks so much!😁
pretty stuff! I need to visit that rock shop but I've not had an excuse to visit Austin this year.

Thanks Peter! I know how confusing those agates can be. I’ve bought and tumbled some duds as well 😢. Good luck with your batch!

Hi Karla, thanks for watching! I don’t think I have ever tried that but I certainly could. It would be fun to see what’s inside in lots of cases.
