Arcane is a fantasy Netflix show based on a very popular video game "League of Legends". The game itself doesn't really have a story and is the biggest competitive e-sport game but it has a lot of lore about the characters, regions etc. It is probably one of the, if not the best animated shows of all time. Awesome animation, writing and characters. The characters and their interactions are probably its biggest strength. They will do more shows in the future but Arcane itself is over. It takes place in Piltover - "The City of Progress". It is divided into a richer section (Piltover) and Zaun (Undercity / slums) and one of the plotlines follows the development / creation of "Hextech" which uses technology to basically channel magic / the "Arcane" for people who are not born with the ability to use it. This song plays in a crucial scene where (SPOILERS) one of the main characters basically leaves behind his humanity and emotions.
The style of game that League of Legends is does not include story in the gameplay but the universe of Runeterra is created for the background of the game and it is incredibly diverse and rich with stories.
There was a short message from Tyler played right before the music video was released. He said this song was inspired by his grandmother's passing. He was in the room with her at the time and that's where he was emotionally when he wrote the lyrics. Of course he kept the scene from Arcane in mind as he wrote, but it was primarily about his experience around his grandmother's passing.
If he finds out it is not anime😂 Anime traditionally refers to animated works created in Japan or heavily influenced by Japanese animation styles. Arcane was produced by French animation studio Fortiche Production, in collaboration with Riot Games, an American company. While Arcane has a visually stunning and unique art style, it doesn't conform to the typical aesthetic associated with anime. It has more of a painterly, Western-inspired approach.
I watched your reaction this morning, I was just listening to music in the shower and Twenty one Pilots Navigating song popped up, there is a lyric in navigating "my dad just lost his mom, i feel like everybody leaves" I always thought that was a weird way to phrase it, but it fits and i'm sorry for Tyler's loss too, RIP Nana
If you love science fiction and action you will love arcane i finished it asap when i knew 21p did the soundtrack. I loved it so beautifully done 10/10 didn't expect that at all
Tyler wrote it, it actually has a very old style feel. The people over the show said most always they have to send the song back to be tweaked but they didn’t with this one. ❤
Absolutely get familiar! The show is a masterpiece in every category. I knew nothing of League of Legends other than knowing its existence. I watched one of their cinematic trailers and was hooked, but I knew the game was nothing like these shorts. I've always said games like this need to make a show, not a game, and they did. It was everything I could have hoped for. I really can't recommend it enough, you won't regret it. There's a few different story lines and intersect and diverge and its incredibly written. One is about a girl named Vi (short for Violet) and her sister Powder. They live in the underground so they're street rat type kids. Very poor, living hand to mouth, violence and strength is the only way to succeed where they live. It follows them and their relationship as they face bigger challenges than simply surviving. Then there's Jayce and Viktor, two students at a well to do academy who are trying to achieve the inconceivable-- magic with machines. Their friendship is tested through unimaginable circumstances. There are many smaller plotlines but those two are the *big* ones. There's also Caitlin, Mel, Ambessa, Ekko, Heimerdinger, Vander, Silco. They're all big players in the story as well. I can gush forever but I hope this, and the video, intrigues you.
I’ve never been into anime but I keep having people tell me to watch arcane. I know arcane is based off of a game but everyone says you csn enjoy the show without knowing anything about the game. I might have to check it out. Love this song so much, missed opportunity to have josh drumming in space lol enjoyed your reaction
This isn't anime, it's categorized as an animated series. Anime is a style of art. Anyone can make anime, you don't need to be japanese or from the country, but Arcane is more stylized humans than cartoons trying to be human.
Yo honestly I don’t even like the video game it’s based on and the show is a genuine fav of mine it’s well worth the watch just to see the pretty art style stuff they do
I respect your opinion you don't have to like everything they do. But i hope you listen to it again. They played this song live at The Game Awards. It was an amazing performance, worth reacting to.
Not officially Anime. But this is one of the most acclaimed animation series ever, first to have near perfect ratings for every episode. And whether you like animated shows or not I recommend it fully. Was so stoked to find out tøp were doing a song for it & of course was not disappointed! It is perfect for the scene, the characters & the story. Emotional for tøp fans but devastatingly so for fans of both.
You could call it an anime but I'm sure its reffered to just japanese animated shows specifically. This would just be called an 'animated series' It's a song about transformation and loss. Anyhow, loved this reaction! Liked that youre intrigued by the visuals but still comment on the music, and honestly too. It's not my favorite either but a lot of people seem to love it.
If you want to know what Arcane is about, it's about the terrible lengths people will go for love. Arguably the best animated series of all time. The art, music and writing are tøp(lol) notch. Everyone, and I mean everyone, should watch it.
no spoiler here but a little bit on the song gist so its at least understandable. Imagine jesus knew the way to change the world where there would be no conflict all he had to do was destroy everyone in his way, so crossing the line. this includes people he cares about.
Arcane is a must watch, trust.

I wanted to try to explain but you summed it up very well

This song within the context of Arcane is... incredible, worth seeing, impeccable story and art
