Most stage actors do actually. I think mainly because it would cost far too much to have a makeup artist do it for every single performance. Plus it doesn't need to be perfect because nobody in the audience is going to see it closeup.
All the cats actors have to.

Its common in CATS That the actors do their own make up. Their usually given a one on one with the designer and taught how to do their design. However this tour, Victoria Tinson is the Make Up supervisor and I don't think Karen Dawson was brought onboarding for this production.

Just saw her two days ago. Best night of my life for sure, cried as I was leaving because it was so late and I needed to get home for school but I wanted to stay as long as I could. Trying to go again before they leave my area, can't get enough!

Elaine Paige used to haunt my dreams when I was younger with the way she portrayed grizzabella. The way she creepily walks onto stage with that creepy music... 😣

A lot of tours do that. In the Wicked tour a lot of the principles like Nessa are the big heads in one short day. It makes life easier.
