Lol i use to feel that way when i was a kid. But when you get older hours to grind vs life and work. You have to buy for the builds lol work wife kids. It takes seconds to buy an item and if you make good money in a career, spending time grinding items in a game is counter productive.
after running a separate hammerdin and smiter, I tried a hybrid a smiter/hammerdin. its surprisingly fun being able to switch hammer to smite. I love being able to farm anywhere in the game including uber's

Sacred Targe Shield has the best block %, which will save you 10-15 Dex. I only put 1 point into Holy shield and placed the rest of the points between Fire and Light Aura for the increased maximum resistance. Gear wise I opted for Mara's Amulet just because of the massive resistance and +2 all skills for more damage and a better CTA buff. I use a FCR ring to reach the 125 break point which has +18 Str / Fire Light res / +38 Life and a BK ring. I will swap the BK ring for a Dwarf Star for Chaos runs (15% Fire absorb + 40 life) or Wisp ring for Baal runs. For boots I use upped Waterwalks, you just can't beat the +65 Life / 15 Dex / +5 Max Fire res mods. 4.1k Life / 15k Hammer Dmg / 85 Fire res / 80 Light res
@@Zool2107 the fade proc is only 60 rez and Uber Meph's conviction is -125 (lvl 20), the single point in salv can keep you from getting 1 tapped by the charge bolt spam if you are under-rez or don't have CTA. Its just an easy security point for me when I am pushing early, though its usefulness wanes as you get gear.
7:51 i prefer Aldur's advance battle boots, easier to find plus 50 to life, plus 50 to fire resist and 40% faster run and walk, besides indestructible.
@@teal_2v338 Vigor gives bonuses to Hammers. The boots have +2 to Vigor. That a lil bit more damage. What are you talking about soft points. Hammers get bonuses from 1 point or 20.
You can be over powered and still be underdefended. If you have access to all of those skillers I doubt it though, so my comment is fairly pointless....
I always put 10 in HolyBolt so I can range those Oblivion Knights that run away. It also kills Soul type ghost pretty quick and mostly for the wave2 Baal minions. Hate those unravellers lol
Bruh i have a personnal rule in d2. If a f*cking mob run away from me i don't kill it and teleport to the next pack. Ain't no way i'm losing a whole minute running after those.
Thanks Phil, Been playing D2R on and off since it released and have killed Baal-Hell on my Sorc/Necro with relative easy. Started leveling me a WW-barb but the motivation of playing that character kinda fell after level 40-ish. After watching this video I might try out the Hammer Paladin. It seems like a decently interesting gameplay with the Teleporting, switching aura's combined with a nice-and-strong way to deal damage that isn't depending on Attack Rating. Let's see how far I get with this one... at least I have my Spirit Sword already made from previous playthroughs...
@@kristopherleslie8343 The End game gear is not easy. The build itself is. I use IK gloves belt boots maul till I can get better gear. I have a Lv90 Fury wolf that is wearing all NM found gear except for the IK maul which can be found in act1 Hell that can clear almost all Lv85 areas.
@@kristopherleslie8343 Have at it. The Fury wolves are fun builds I swear by 2hand axes and mauls but you could use something else. Grief with Lawbringer on off hand works on almost all situations. Max out Lycantropy and werewolf and Fury. I like to Max OakSage too. I put alot of points into Str just to wear the IK maul but after I get a Grief I respec. Enough DeX to wear gear and all extra points in Vit. It really an easy build. Hell can be tricky cuz the physical Immunes but with the IK peices the maul will do decent FireColdLightPoison damages. Brutal NM farmer. Hell cows can be tricky.
May I ask why everybody says paladin have to put points into salvation to tank mephisto conviction aura. But isn't it more effective if I put points to resist lightning? It gives me passive max lightning resist and Mephi's main attack is lightning. Since I already learned resist lightning for passive max resist, I just need tu put on it and it gives huge bonus to my lightning reistance. Is there any reason to learn salvation?

Holy bolt does almost nothing to wave 2 of Baal's minions now. Lv 96 Hammerdin with BIS gear, charms etc. Am I missing something or did the patch really decimate Holy bolt's damage that much just cause it got rid of the Blessed Hammer synergy? How do you deal with Wave 2, or magic immunes in general now?
Uuhhh, Like everywhere IB nightmare and normal. If your mega mega desperate if you larzuk a flail from normal cows you will get 4 sockets. But honestly you should be able to find one in cows in short order. Nightmare cows with high players count one should drop quick.
On legacy my last pally used a mage plate Enigma so that i didn't need any strength.. I never checked how much of a defence difference it really was at the end of the day, but i never died so w.e.
A perfect MP enigma is 1076 A perfect AP enigma is 1378 302 defense difference IME it’s worth the 300 defense to go for a high (at least 14%ed and 770+ roll) MP for the zero points into str. Me and my bro made identical hdin builds. He had a 13% 774 AP I had a 14% 772 MP The extra life afforded me more survivability despite the def difference.
This weird idea that everyone keeps regurgitating that you shouldn't put any points into energy even now when you have infinite respecs, if you're playing a caster it just makes the early game way less annoying to invest points into mana at the start and later respec, I mean I put half my points into it and I still die VERY slowly as a sorc at normal difficulty.
Probably you already solved that problem, but just run past them. The vipers in level 2 are only poison immune. No need to kill every singly monster in the game. Playing sorc would be impossible then, lol.

problem with hammers, they don't allways hit everything, there are gaps in the rings, i'd rather use FoH, even thought it is not as good as hammers. But with hammers, i allways feel i am missing something.
Hey man thanks for the video and A for effort but this is a very very outdated hammerdin build. Hoto, Bk and Soj gotta go, Check it out. Wizspike with up'd hoz is the only way to reach max fcr and the res stack is unbeatable plus u have higher mf. Additionally you should be useing caster rings not bk or soj better mf and fcr. TRUST ME and try this hybrid build I'm about to explain been playing since release that's 23 years lol.. It's expensive requires atleast lvl 90 Char, a lot of skill and game knowledge but you will actually be unbeatable in a series duel and have a equally fantastic mfer hdin. I used to duel for forum gold (Online Currency) all the time and it's actually THEY BEST build i've ever seen, NO CAP!!!!. Hdin/charger/foh hybrid build with 12k hmr dmg, 1-50kdmg charge switch, and 10k foh dmg. Beens years since I made it but I used Wizspike with res jewel, and up'd hoz same jewel, enigma, tri res caster rings and ammy, tri res boots, grief ZERKER not PB switch with cathans rings/ammy when i needed to charge. and kept a cube in my invy for cta and the cathans rings set for ar. rest of the invy space was for pcombs, torch and 20 lifer sc's. I changed my weapon overtime and i can't remember if I used eth zerk botd or grief zerk. either will work for charge switch but one was much better than the other and it needs to be a zerker so u dont waste stat points and the 1 hit dmg is greater than Phase Blade. Max ur hammer skills, 1 skill point into charge and use the rest for FOH Try this build and you will almost never lose. Charge for sorcs and bowazons, foh for anytype of summoner build who you couldn't jump on. But also good when going vs full hammerdins as you are a hybrid build so you either have the option to out synch other other hdin or use ur combination of synch hammers and foh maybe charge him if he has low def build and you have good positioning. It's a super rare build and ur dueling mate will never see it coming. Cheers and really try this build you will be blown away that anyone would bother playing a regular hammerdin.
You can for sure hit +38% blocking and be able to hit +10 base points into either resist fire/resist light for the +5 max res, as well as like 4-5 points into another resist aura by level 94 for another +2 max res I usually will go resist light if I do a lot of pvp for trappers, javazons, foh/magedin, light sorc. For pvm I will do resist fire for trav farming. If you slap an eth up’d Gangel and a eth Kira’s on your merc, and you replace a ring with a dwarf.. you and your merc will eat hydras for breakfast and you can crank out trav farming super duper quick. Very easy to join a Baal game, farm LK, trav, meph (with council) by the time the Baal game is over. Obviously that’s with maphack. But given that maphack has been around since December, y’all should have it by now
A truly top tier lightning sorc clears chaos faster than a hammerdin in 8 player games. One with 15k chain lightning and -85% elr holding an infinity. Yes, this kind of sorc’s gear is far more expensive, but if she’s top tier.. she makes a hammerdin look bad.
if you throw 1 point into fan you can pretty easily do ubers with a hammerdin, swap out shako, hoz-spirit, hoto, war travs and maras and replace them with a grief, exile, highlords, gface and gores, and you have a pretty potent tele smiter for ubers without having to respec. the downside is you would have to put enough stats into str and dex to swap gear freely meaning you have less for vit- HP pool. also holy shyt bro are you new or something? skilling for basic bIOtch hammerdin is hammers and synergies the rest into holy bolt to deal with magic immune like wave 2 of baal. your needlessly wasting points on holyshield :/ i also noticed you not using cleansing to clear poison and curses, thats like not using vigor when running through town.
way too weak hammerdin try reaching 125 fcr 75blckrate all res -f/c/l/p over 110+ , 200 300mf and 15-15k hammer dmg . iF YOU EVAN think its not posseble come back to me :D
I mean not getting 1pt into fanaticism is a crime. U could run a smiter as needed to clear Ubers or wave 2 Baal etc in emergency. Also as u are leveling 1pt into salvation is always nice.
two mistakes on your build, you don't need trang'oul gloves and the amulet With just Hoto and a perfect spirit shield (35% FCR which you have) you get the 75% breakpoint. I rather have Bloodfist as glove (double augmented trough the cube), and Mara kaleidoscope for that +2 skills to Battle Order. Nice and Compact guide tho.
As a veteran player back in the days , I prefer a Hoz shield 🛡 , a coa for helm with two ber runes . survivability is utterly important for a 8 player game . I always went with magefist gloves. I agree with maras amulet
@@justingodbout538 the problem with hoz is that it doesn't have any fcr. But it's a very good Shield. Personnaly I rock the COA with 2 ber but it's not build friendly.

I always slot in 1 point in Fanata and 1 point in salvation for my Hammerdin; they are just 1 point away and open up doing Ubers on a hammer build.
Why do you need salvation for ubers? Just trigger the fade on a Treachery armor in a fireplace, and you're good to go.

I use upped Tearhauches. They give +2 to Vigor for just a tad more hammer damage and have 10 to all res. They are my secret hammerdin weapon.

Just pre-cast hammers with redemption active and redeem all of the death mages, then kite all of the unravellers out of the room.

at lvl 90 I do 15k hammers, I sacrifice fcr to 60. but I use mara's , chance guards, war trave and hoz. With my merc I have 370 MF.

I changed my weapon overtime and i can't remember if I used eth zerk botd or grief zerk. either will work for charge switch but one was much better than the other and it needs to be a zerker so u dont waste stat points and the 1 hit dmg is greater than Phase Blade. Max ur hammer skills, 1 skill point into charge and use the rest for FOH Try this build and you will almost never lose. Charge for sorcs and bowazons, foh for anytype of summoner build who you couldn't jump on. But also good when going vs full hammerdins as you are a hybrid build so you either have the option to out synch other other hdin or use ur combination of synch hammers and foh maybe charge him if he has low def build and you have good positioning. It's a super rare build and ur dueling mate will never see it coming. Cheers and really try this build you will be blown away that anyone would bother playing a regular hammerdin.

You can for sure hit +38% blocking and be able to hit +10 base points into either resist fire/resist light for the +5 max res, as well as like 4-5 points into another resist aura by level 94 for another +2 max res
I usually will go resist light if I do a lot of pvp for trappers, javazons, foh/magedin, light sorc.
For pvm I will do resist fire for trav farming. If you slap an eth up’d Gangel and a eth Kira’s on your merc, and you replace a ring with a dwarf.. you and your merc will eat hydras for breakfast and you can crank out trav farming super duper quick.
Very easy to join a Baal game, farm LK, trav, meph (with council) by the time the Baal game is over.
Obviously that’s with maphack. But given that maphack has been around since December, y’all should have it by now

A truly top tier lightning sorc clears chaos faster than a hammerdin in 8 player games. One with 15k chain lightning and -85% elr holding an infinity. Yes, this kind of sorc’s gear is far more expensive, but if she’s top tier.. she makes a hammerdin look bad.
if you throw 1 point into fan you can pretty easily do ubers with a hammerdin, swap out shako, hoz-spirit, hoto, war travs and maras and replace them with a grief, exile, highlords, gface and gores, and you have a pretty potent tele smiter for ubers without having to respec. the downside is you would have to put enough stats into str and dex to swap gear freely meaning you have less for vit- HP pool. also holy shyt bro are you new or something? skilling for basic bIOtch hammerdin is hammers and synergies the rest into holy bolt to deal with magic immune like wave 2 of baal. your needlessly wasting points on holyshield :/ i also noticed you not using cleansing to clear poison and curses, thats like not using vigor when running through town.

Just make sure it worked. I'll cast mine and the glow under toons feet doesn't appear usually means it didnt work. Just my experience

I mean not getting 1pt into fanaticism is a crime. U could run a smiter as needed to clear Ubers or wave 2 Baal etc in emergency. Also as u are leveling 1pt into salvation is always nice.
That's what HolyBolt is for. You use HolyBolt on the wave 2 minions.
two mistakes on your build, you don't need trang'oul gloves and the amulet
With just Hoto and a perfect spirit shield (35% FCR which you have) you get the 75% breakpoint.
I rather have Bloodfist as glove (double augmented trough the cube), and Mara kaleidoscope for that +2 skills to Battle Order.

As a veteran player back in the days , I prefer a Hoz shield 🛡 , a coa for helm with two ber runes . survivability is utterly important for a 8 player game . I always went with magefist gloves. I agree with maras amulet

But it's a very good Shield.
Personnaly I rock the COA with 2 ber but it's not build friendly.
