    The Victron systems are amazing but so expensive. I started out with a 100w solar, cheap pvm controller and 1x 110amh battery. I used the two usb ports on the $5 pvm unit to charge most devices and had a small 4 fused wire unit, for the lights and another usb port. It worked fine, with no issues, even with no fuse for the battery to the controller. Currently doing Van 2 build and have an MPT unit, fused battery switch, 8 port fused live wire unit for lights, 12v cooler, other USB ports, large 12v port. So as much as Id love to even have the basic Victron set up, its just not feasible for a low roof, lwb van. Maybe when I win on the lottery lol

    Very good video, thanks a lot! Just could not find in any of your videos the explanation about how you connect a high output alternator to Lynx BMS 500. Is this a direct connection to the Lynx Distributor then Lynx 500 manages the charge, or is there anything else between the alternator and the BMS bus bar? Thanks

    Awesome video (the thumbnail and written text caught my eye), first time I see that BMS for regular alternator COOL. My question for u is - do u have partner in EU (Germany) for the powering victron systems ? Looking for one, if u can connect me with one of your partners that would be great :) I am not sure that I can do it all by my self installing correctly - that's why I need professional victron instaler.

  • @bobstransitvan3053
    @bobstransitvan3053 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    The lights on the Lynx Distributor do not work if you don't have a Lynx Shunt or BMS. You can get the lights to work with a 12V to 5V converter and the cable provided with the Lynx Distributor.
    Analyze your needs to determine if you need the 3kW Inverter charger. The 2kW inverter charger may be big enough for your AC needs.

  • @emilybesserer1999

    awesome video! So essentially the BMS replaces the DC to DC charger from Victron?

    • @VanLand
      @VanLand  ปีที่แล้ว

      No it doesn’t replace the DC charger unless you have an external regulator for the alternator.

  • @tmo7984

    Great video! If I’m not charging off my alternator, do I need the BMS device?

    • @VanLand
      @VanLand  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes- the batteries require a BMS. Some are built in but the Victron batteries have an external BMS.

    One thing I wanted to make sure y’all knew is that there is a setting in the Cerbo for the GX Touch 50 that gives you an “RV Screen” and gives all the functionality that a Digital Multi Control does. No need to purchase if you have a GX Touch! 💪🏻

    • @VanLand
      @VanLand  ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s correct- you don’t need both.

    • @leefinefurniture494
      @leefinefurniture494 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Best thing is no menu hopping when you turn the RV screen on. It’s all just there- current limit and on/off/charger only already there. Plus shows all tank levels on same screen too! Before I knew that feature I would always hop through the menus on the GX Touch to turn on/off and limit current. So annoying…I just don’t think many folks know it’s available but has to be turned on.

    I would not go as far as "Best power system". If it does not have 48v battery bank then definitely not the best. Glad you went with Victron though. My rule of thumb is the higher the voltage the better the efficiency.

    You show the Blue Sea's outlet fuse switch and mention there's two 110V units which the exposed switch panel controls, can you please break this information down? Are the two 110V units wired from their devices direct to the switch then to the Lynx? Those two devices are the AC unit and what's the second? Thank you, awesome videos!

    • @VanLand
      @VanLand  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, the setup is batteries > Lynx distributor > Multiplus inverter > breaker box > 110v appliances.

    • @VanLand
      @VanLand  ปีที่แล้ว

      The air conditioner is 12v so that goes directly from the Lynx distributor to the unit.

    [Question] if i was to install this power system say into a trailer in my case a pop up, and i put the trailer away for the winter what is your recommendations for winterizing/ batteries health should i use shore power all winter to keep them fully charges or just simply turn the system to the off via breakers and use a batteries tender to keep them up?

    • @VanLand
      @VanLand  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The battery tender would do the job. When the batteries get really cold, the BMS will shut them down and prevent charging/discharging until they warm up to operating temperature.

    The absolutely best, simplist, cheapest van or RV power system is the 12v battery powered, inverter "110v Power Pack" system! Everthing electrical for the conversion is 110v..........no 12, 24, 48 volt! Use much less expensive high efficiency 110v everything? Use the money you save to buy more lithium batteries. Charged with alternator DC to DC charger, 110v plug in or small propane/synthetic lubed genverter. No solar sun or wind power.
