Hi Mike, could you please respond to the under-mentioned video? The Dr (Phd) in the video makes a parallel between Ezekiel 26 and Jeremiah 20:4-5. I know that the structures are different, however, he quotes the Septuagint as evidence that "they" refers to Nebuchadnezzar; unfortunately, I do not understand Greek. He also claims that Tyre was only the Island city. I have found sources that say otherwise. The video was a response to your video. Thanks

I get so much out of these lessons, simple little nuggets like the fact that Peter refers to the writings of Paul and equates them to scripture in the same verse. Amazing context and historical references. These tidbits of info draw me deeper into the story, it causes me to want to be there with them experiencing all of it. I pray the LORD allows me to walk in my relationship with him in this way, real, tangible and alive. I am so grateful for continued growth in my relationship with the Trinity. We all have so so much to learn which causes me to want to have so much more patience and grace for those who don’t believe. It’s a lot to learn and take on as your own in your own personal walk with Jesus the messiah. So good man, so good.

I always think how hard would it be to leave Jesus and go home after he healed you and forgave your sins. I would want to stay with him!
My main takeaway: When I come to God in prayer the question I ask is not “Will my prayer be answered this time?” Rather, “Will God find faith in me or will He find that I lost heart?”
As someone who has dealt with tremendous grief and trauma over familial circumstances and has continuously prayed for healing for my brother for 15 years, I needed that rebuke to fix my eyes on the hope of Jesus’ 2nd coming rather than my circumstances that drain me of my hopefulness. Good stuff 🙌🏼

I agree with you about culture today: affirming your flaws, your sin, your desires, rejecting change. People today surround themselves with people who are all enjoying the same things/sin/lifestyle, and if you believe different and disagree in an opinion you are ostracized or called bigot or homo/trans phobic, say your waiting for marriage get called a prude/killjoy. But we must persist in faith in our message and in the gospel shake the dust of our feet and keep loving others in word and deed.

Thank God for a true exposition of the WORD. Paralytic. Hey, I remember that from my SS days (Sunday school). Scribes were 'reasoning in their hearts' - Jesus was aware in his Spirit that they were 'reasoning in their hearts' - I've heard this before, that 'reasoning' in our heart is not taking GOD at HIS WORD.
BIG PICTURE: Jesus heals Paralytic, but for an express purpose. He does it for a reason, to give them the reason that "he can forgive sin" - Jesus' works and teachings are to get you to believe in Jesus. This is the basic Gospel Message - that HE can forgive you.

I love the friends' passion! Their urgency! Can we imitate that? When we see the sick, can we bring them to Jesus? Even if it’s not convenient? Jesus commands of to pray for the sick. (James 5) He commands us to seek gifts of the Spirit (1 Cor. 14:1) What's the worst thing that could happen? The sick might not get healed. But what if they do?
Me? I "only" see 5, or maybe 10% healed miraculously healed when I lay hands on them. But that 5 or 10% makes it all worthwhile! Saints, let's believe God!

I tend to think the paralytic would've been relieved even if he was never healed. He lived in a time where things like his condition were thought to have been caused by God as punishment for sin. I know it's just speculation, but I think he would have been incredibly relieved to hear Jesus tell him that he has been forgiven. It would've proven that his condition was not a punishment from God.

thanks for your teaching. I get so much from it.
Wrt to "not quitting" in prayer (around the 30 minute mark) - I find this a tough one. In the light of unanswered prayer. I am a Christian & don't question God's goodness and fatherhood etc. I have proved his faithfulness through it all. But there is a reality of unanswered prayers on occasion. And I just feel like sometimes life has to move on and you just have to come to terms with living with it. Like infertility. Like a chronic illness. If I kept praying and hoping, my life would be tinged with constant disappointment that He hasn't done it. But I feel I have moved on to just trusting Him anyway. Not in a resigned oh well there is no point in asking way... Just that I did years of asking and now I just want to get on with life - I want to focus on what He HAS given me (which is far greater anyway)- and his second coming etc like you said. Do you know what I mean? Like, I don't just want to keep asking for the same stuff when I feel like the answer has been no for so long... When he was talking about asking for good things was he not talking about the Holy Spirit anyway? Sorry to ramble! God bless. (I haven't finished listening so apologies if you cover this a bit further on)
Sometimes we ask from our limited knowledge but God always answer from His all knowing justice that truly knows what we need besides what we want. Thankfully in his mercy He always give us what we need, He give us life everyday, the grace of knowing Him, his salvation and his love. But we are fragile an frail and continually need Him to do for us something but perhaps he lets us grow by precisely not giving us immediately what we ask for but, perhaps, we are more concentrated in what we think we lack than in what he freely gives…

What if being paralyzed is related to being stuck in your sin? Perhaps we can link the thought of not being able to move to feeling helpless about the sin in you life. Better yet, what if a paralytic, who may have difficulty getting to the temple to make sacrifice, felt hopeless about his sin and what if being able to walk now made it possible for him to be at the temple and among those seeking God? First, thank you so much for your great apologetic teachings and doing a thorough study with the historical sources. I really enjoy and appreciate this. My absolute favourite series were "Evidence for the Bible" and "Jesus in the old testament". I learned so much! This was really facinating! Thank you! Second, by the things you highlight or apply I see that you come from similar theological tradition like I came from (i'm Lutheran). I think the Bible is clear that we also should do the deeds Jesus did. It is not only to make nice comparisons of or teach about some other topic. For example "Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father." (John 14:12) And it is said after Jesus tells the diciples that they should believe, if not for other reason, because of His works. " He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. 16 Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. 17 And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; 18 they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.”" (Mark 16: 15-18, sorry, I have not reached this study yet, what you teach about Mark 16). I think Jesus does not differentiate between forgiveness of sins and healing. Jesus sees human as a whole. "May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ." (1 Ts 5:23). We do not have to choose one or the other, they go together, we can have both, not only forgiveness (although this alone is the most important thing, i agree, but Jesus still gives us both).
The physical healing comes when we get our new Heavenly body.
Been listening to your teachings for some time and I really appreciate your depth of insight, however I will always remember "Greg Lorry" something I would do and use, appreciate your humour too !!
Way late to the party, but regarding the healing of the paralyzed man and the comment Jesus made about whether it was easier to offer forgiveness for sins, or to say, "Stand up and walk," I have always understood this to mean that the claim to forgive sins cannot be verified, so anyone could claim to have that authority, but that only one truly empowered by God could heal a paralyzed man instantaneously. One factor I have wondered about: I have often heard it said that in that day, people often equated physical illness or disability with being guilty of sin. While Jesus overtly refuted this notion in John 9, this may have been another factor in the minds of Jesus's audience and one he leveraged to make his point more powerful. For those who thought the man's condition was due to his sin, Jesus healing him confirmed that he could also forgive sin.

As a former agnostic who's always been somewhat of an autist when it comes to debating, I can't believe how long it took me to discover what an exercise in futility it is trying to debate most leftist/skeptic types. They all mostly consider themselves rational empiricists/scientifically minded and yet they have absolutely no grasp of dialectical reasoning which is what the scientific method is derived from. Speaking of science, you ever do feel the itch to debate a skeptic, go on the offensive by pointing out the God sized holes in evolution such as the nonexistence of a model/mathematical proof that substantiates fixed-rates of mutations in ANY species to have ever existed. Also there is yet to be any evidence of pro-adaptive mutations happening in nature(most genetic mutations are degenerative and more often than not leave the organism sterile)

Also remember evolution is not one thing it's a collection of proofs theory and untested hypothesis. The only really contested issue is unguided Macro evolution. This hypothesis has gone throu a number of iterations.

Question: regarding to the paralytic, was it sin that caused his paralysis? There are some who are born paralyzed, what would he have said then?

Hi Mike, my children and I are slowly working through the book of Mark. My oldest daughter asked me if the word 'all' in verse 12 refers to the scribes as well. We re-read verses 1-12 and it seems to me like they must have been praising God along with everyone else. What are your thoughts? Thanks, and God bless.
That is indeed a possibility. The text doesn't say that the pharisees were _not_ praising God.
On the other hand one could argue that when it says something like "the crowd believed" it doesn't refer to every single person but rather the mass, the majority. I wouldn't settle on either option.

he Bible indicates that the earth is round. Consider Isaiah 40:22 which mentions the “circle of the earth.” This description is certainly fitting-particularly when the earth is viewed from space; the earth always appears as a circle since it is round.Another verse that indicates the spherical nature of our planet is Job 26:10. This verse teaches that God has inscribed a circle on the surface of the waters at the boundary of light and darkness. This boundary between light and darkness (day and night) is called the “terminator” since the light stops or “terminates” there. Someone standing on the terminator would be experiencing either a sunrise or a sunset; they are going from day to night or from night to day. The terminator is always a circle, because the earth is round.For the earth, the terminator occurs not on a cratered rocky surface, but primarily on water (since the earth’s surface is 70 percent water). Job 26:10 suggests a “God’s eye” view of the earth. This biblical passage would be nonsense if the earth were flat, since there would be no true terminator; there is no line to “step over” that separates the day from night on a flat surface. Either it is day everywhere or night everywhere on a hypothetical “flat earth.” However, the earth does indeed have a boundary between light and darkness which is always a circle since the earth is round.A very interesting verse to consider is Job 26:7 which states that God “hangs the earth on nothing.” This might evoke an image of God hanging the earth like a Christmas tree ornament, but hanging it on empty space. This verse expresses (in a poetic way) the fact that the earth is unsupported by any other object-something quite unnatural for the ancient writers to imagine. Indeed, the earth does float in space. We now have pictures of the earth taken from space that show it floating in the cosmic void. The earth literally hangs on nothing, just as the Bible teaches.
All people have to do is to use the brain.......in our lifetimes each of us have seen a lunar eclipse, correct? What is the shape of The Shadow that slowly starts to go over the moon and then finally covers the Moon?? Yes... It is a circle... And then what shape is the Sun and the Moon and some of the other planets that we can actually observe? Yes they are round Globes.

Basically what you are asking is if you can be forgiven through your own works-righteousness. The answer is no, because we all fall short of the glory of God. No matter how good you are, no matter how much you attempt to follow the law, you will fall short. We all fall short. That was one of Jesus's biggest messages to the Jewish leaders who acted self-righteous. They believed they were set because they followed the rules and laws of God, failing to recognize that they hadn't and couldn't follow the law perfectly. We must humble ourselves before God, recognize our sin against Him, and then we are given the gift of salvation through Jesus on the Cross.

People can be born in a different place as to what they consider as home. And what we consider as home can change with moves and time. Why would Jesus be any different?
I would like to hear your view on the concept of guardian angels. I personally never feel the need to imagine them around me, as I understand the holy spirit to be in that position, but so many people around me think it's biblical to believe in an angelic bodyguard.
I cannot find any strong support for the theory of Guardian Angel this in scripture. There are two verses that somewhat speak to it. One is:
“See that you do not despise one of these little ones. For I tell you that their angels in heaven always see the face of my Father in heaven. (Matt. 18:10) Personally I see the “their” as belonging to the collective group of “little ones,” and others, not each one having an angel. However, I would be thrilled if there was an angel for each of us. Regardless, angels do watch over us and they do belong to us in the sense that God has commissioned them to serve believers (as noted above Heb. 1:14). Then, when Peter is freed from prison in Acts 12, the maid Rhoda, who answers the door. The people don’t believe her and say, “it must be his angel.” But that is merely the quote of someone who may have been brought up to believe that we each have an angel assigned to us. She was not a theologian. Nevertheless, there is enough support in scripture to expect angels to be active in our lives and to minister to us, the heirs of salvation. I cannot see any place where we are to pray to angels. I think this can open one up to deception. Yeshua taught us to pray to the Father, in His name.And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it. (John 14:13-14)In that day you will ask in my name. I am not saying that I will ask the Father on your behalf. No, the Father himself loves you because you have loved me and have believed that I came from God. (John 16:26-27)

Which is easier? Your sins are forgiven! You can’t be disproven! To say to a paraplegic rise and walk can be easily disproved if false. He proved the first assertion by the second. They couldn’t see the first but could the second!
Maybe the paralytic *wanted* the forgiveness and Jesus just knew that? The scribes accused him afterward and he healed the man as a sign that he could forgive him.
Because the whole Christian world thinks they have righteousness gifted to them because of Jesus's death it is impossible for them to fathom the lesson being taught. The prodigal son had shoes put on his feet , Moses had to take off his shoes at the burning bush, this man 3:21 is going to walk away from being bedridden .... When God created free moral agents He also set boundaries to their behaviour. The ten commandments ( which are the only law in the earth made new , with Jesus the final arbitrator),, the ten commandments ensure a happy harmonious society for everyone . To acknowledge God's love in restricting our behavior we ,with God's help ,are to write the ten commandments on our hearts. When the thoughts and intents of the heart if acted out would have us transgress one of those commandments we are to seek God's help to remain obedient. All who enter into this emulation of Jesus are considered fit citizens for the earth made new . As each grows into the character of Jesus God repays the faithful endeavour by forgiving their transgressions as they strive for obedience. The dealing with those transgressions that are blotted out of the life record is done by the " high priest" who on the day of atonement transferres them to the life record of the scape goat which is then left in the wilderness. Revelation 20: 2 ,5 has the earth barren and uninhabited by humans for 1000 years and the Devil despite being a spirit being ,has to live in that barren , unoccupied place. As the Devil initiated transgression through temptation ,,those transgressions blotted out are added to the Devil's life record.
The shoes on the feet , the removal of shoes in the presence of the presence of God and "thy sins forgiven" are all pointing to the acceptance of whoever has the ten commandments written on the heart. The blessings that flowed from the power of God under the tongues of fire declaration was the means God used to declare to every man that the Gospel as lived by Jesus who left His Divinity in the care of His Father that he could give us a faithful example of how to live was what He requires of us. At His resurrection by the Father Jesus had His Devine existence and human existence returned to Him . The transition of moving from a peculiar people who treated other races as common where the peculiar people had all the records of the first testament confusion led to the doctrine of righteousness from Jesus's death.
