    I did this line some years ago behind an ancient Soviet-era diesel loco … you did wonder if it would actually reach its destination. Looks like things have improved. And Karlovy Vary has a brand new station!

    In daily speech you will hear Karlsbad German Name for Karlovy Vary because Czech Republic used to be part of Austria Hungary 100 years ago. German Deutsche Bahn and Austrian ÖBB trains inside the Czech Republic use this format German name of the city 1st then the Czech name in Parenthesis. In Germany your Czech 844 DMU is called a DB Baureihe 633/634

      Thank you for the extra information. Yes, this part of the world has changed "country" on a number of occasions and I also saw Karlsbad mentioned many times.

    Another good video. I like the pace and also the fact you are taking in the surroundings, not just churning stuff out>

      Thank you.. again. I really loved that little ride. I knew I needed to be on the train to Prague and I knew if I got up early, I could pop to Germany and back before my booked train.
      I did get up early and loved every minute of it. It’s these daft little lines that really fire the imagination.

    Great video!
    What were you doing in the Czech Republic? I was born in Cieszyn, on the Polish-Czech border 😊

      I love the Czech Republic. I've been going to Rock for People festival at Hradec Kralové most years since 2013. In 2022 I was going to the festival so went to CZ by train and travelled around for a few days before it started.
      If you think your English is bad, you should hear my Czech!
      I passed through Cieszyn in January this year on a run from Praha to Poprad!
      Děkuji za sledování 👍

    Why are you buying individual tickets? Have you ever considered buying an Interrail/Eurail global pass or country pass? Wouldn’t that be much cheaper?

    • @JohnnyHooverTravels
      @JohnnyHooverTravels  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I did look at that, but I was in Czechia and the trains I was catching worked out cheaper in this instance to buy individual tickets.
      Certainly an Interail bought in the UK works out more £s per day than just booking well in advance with ČD and the other Czech carriers.
