One linguistic note. The word "dollar" comes indeed from the silver coins from Jáchymov. The original German name of the town is Joachimsthal, which gave the name "thaler" to the coins. Thaler became tolar and the rest is history. :)
Correct. The German name for todays Jáchymov was Joachimsthal (lit. St Joachim's valley) - the silver coin was named just in short version "Thaler" (dropping the Saint Joachim) From this "Thaler" the Czech Tolar and the American Dollar derived.

Maybe one day I can visit Karlovy Vary. It looks gorgeous and the attractions are very interesting. I'd like to suggest something for a future video. If you could show us Prague's pro football teams' stadiums (Bohemians, Slavia, Sparta, Viktoria Zizkov), that'd be cool. I know this subject wouldn't be too exciting for every tourist, but I'm sure there'd be viewers who would enjoy the tours. Slavia's new arena looks fantastic in Google Maps. :)

7:30 I camped illegally but for free out behind those moth butterfly houses and tower and beer garden for like three days when I was in Karlovy vary. Awesome views.
I saw the house and it remind me of my Czech "parent.s" house, it was a trow back to 1995... and no I am Czech, I just was an exchange student that had a chance to live in CZ in 1995-96... Thanks for you show, it is full of information, and for me, sometimes nostalgia, such as today.
The czech gov’t subsidies a lot of these places through the minstry of fianance so its very affordable indeed. Some of these places. Other places can be pricier though. Depends really

Karlsbad inspired Wes Anderson for his movie Grand Budapest Hotel when he was here at film festival. Also the look of hotel building is made after one local hotel (which is no longer pink after reconstruction). And the statue of deer is in original statue of chamois.
Absolutely loved visiting Karlovy Vary and exploring the city, was there in Dec 2018 and felt so relaxed there...just a shame the becherovka museum was undergoing refurb at the time as it was steps away from my hotel! Cannot wait for restrictions to be eased for uk tourists so i can return to Czech Rep

@@valeriehulm1255 That is quite the calory bomb. Do not forget to combine with a sport activity. Biking and canoeing go well with both, as certain level of alcohol is mostly tolerated. (However in responsible amounts, getting drunk is reserved for evenings :D) There is not that many bikepaths, but generaly any small country road serves as one. There is our one and only international movie festival in Karlovy Vary, so come in next summer. It means the movies are in english or subtitled, and a few are a premiére. Usualy some hollywood faces show up.
What happened to your old videos? When I went back to rewatch some of them there weren´t there anymore. For example the video with a place where a lady sold haning plants, the store that let´s you colour your own mugs,... I am finally going to Prague after I had to cancel my trip last march. Just a few more days and I can´t even describe how excited I am!!!

I would reccomend train, more comfortable, and you can read or connect to internet without vomiting your insides out. Plus eating there is allowed, and you sit with friends facing each other. (You need to obtain your own friends though.)

I am watching your videos every now and then because I am considering to go to Prague. I was wondering if you could give me some advice about nice hotels to stay which are not super expensive but kinda good quality. I am Dutch and on the websites I am trying to find a nice stay, there has been called a lot of disadvantages for example room isn’t clean or something like that. Actually pretty oké for a student. Proper is important to me.
I don't think so because they teamed up with the city specifically to promote this card. Btw in case you were wondering the 350 CZK price for 2 days is less than 14 EUR which is really good price
i love my visits to the Czech Republic, including the karlovy vary. the only thing i disliked is finding a hotel with a lift/elevator. i would LOVE to take my father but he cannot do stairs.

Zámecký Pivovar has the best beer. They sell it to go/take home in 1.5 liter plastic bottles.

As far as I know it was filmed in Görlitz in an empty department store.
Tolar was a Slovenian currency when they left Yugoslavia.
I went to Karlovy Vary in winter. It was magical, but it looks fantastic in summer.
I have a picture of a Velorex, that I took, when I was in Prague. It was yellow. Very cool.
