I remember seeing a story in the Norfolk paper that said that Miss Virginia, Linda McKee, fainted when she was announced as a semifinalist. This was back when the semifinalists were announced at least a day before the telecast.

They did not announce the SF prior to the telecast.

Semifinalists have never been announced the day before any major pageant telecast!! They are announced live during the pageants live telecast every year and it’s that way with ANY pageant.

That is true now, but not in the '70s. The SF used to be announced before the live telecast. Not the day before, though.
