Great video - perfect sum up. Try using one of the ceramic coatings to stop the swirls, i used Top Coat, which i love. The one thing I think Honda missed was Cruise Control. I really wish the bike had that. Here in the US its almost a must have.
Great review thanks, I went with a Z900rs because the cb1000r was just out of my price range , now that some used ones are starting to pop up once in a while I may be able to pick one up, cheers
Very accurate set of points, i have several bikes but find myself rolling this one out the most lately, a very capable bike with the best gearbox so far except the big clunk from the clutch in first gear, oh well.... After 4000 km. i started to "black out" the lower part of the exhaust which helps a bit. The accidently pressing the horn button was another point that i found annoying, i looked at changing the switch body for a more standard one but thinking about the crux of the matter it occurred to me that the hornpush was very brief so i made a really simple one second delay timer out of three parts and the problem has gone away, i very seldom use the horn anyway so it seems fine for now. Also like the camera view in your setup, thanks for all your video's.
Thanks for the info Max. Got to say I'm impressed that you have gone to such lengths to mitigate the horn problem. I guess owning a few different bikes makes the switch layout a real issue. Well done sir. 👍
This has been very useful. I really appreciate you taking the time to share! can I ask if you ever took a pillion passenger on this bike? I'm looking for a new bike that I can enjoy, but the wife can occasionally get on the back for 60-70 miles each way and not be in complete agony. starting tho think this won't be possible !!!
I got a brand 2019 one 5 months ago, lovely & lively with the usual honda quality 👌 i made it better behaving by using Motul 7100 4T 10W40 engine oil, K&N 204 oil filter, Engine ice Coolant, & Motul RBF600 brake fluid.
I have one of these and have been using it exclusively for commuting. After a lot miles I can say this; the seat is not up to the job as it is very hard on your sit bones, especially if, like me, you are a slim person. The quick-shifter, although good, is prone to dropping out of gear and hitting neutral, it is also not very good or smooth when you’re changing up at higher revs, so I’m not impressed. The biggest gripe for me is the fuelling,. I know it’s a litre bike but I find it almost impossible to get more than 130 miles from a tank, very surprising on a modern motorcycle. The other major issue is adjusting the chain, even the dealers don’t know how to adjust it properly. Having a single sided swing arm should make chain adjustment a breeze but it seems a bit of a dark art to everyone?
Hi Neil, firstly thanks for the feedback and information. I find the seat to be comparable to most bikes, anything over 2-3hrs and you need to get off the thing. As for the quick shifter, I have had very few issues and it works really well all through the rev range. If I were in your shoes, I would be tempted to go back to Honda and ask them to sort it. In regard to the chain, I adjust it myself and you're perfectly correct, it really is easy to do with the correct tools. Thanks again. Ride safe
I just bought one a week ago and just love it. Even did a few motovlogs. See link below. I was smitten by its looks and so it now shares space in the garage with my Goldwing DCT. th-cam.com/play/PL2chjMRO1OhEYT23r09xLUy9kikuvU-0l.html
Still not great. You really gotta get up into 6th gear quick and stay there to get upper 20s mpg. Thankfully the fuel mapping is great and it doesn’t jerk and sputter if you have to open the throttle from 1500ish rpm in 6th. The power’s still smooth, it just takes a while to come on.
I love mine. It can be a roaring lion or a purring kitten. Whatever you want it can do. Once it hits 8k revs, it makes you hold on tight as your face jiggles into triple digits. BUT....seat is a plank of wood, and drinks like an angry sailor. Other than that, I am so glad I chose it over the Suzuki GSX-S.

Enjoy the new bike and thats a great video 👍
Having read the comments below, what MPG [imperial] do you get when touring? As in not ringing its neck. In other words, riding normally.
