  • Removing the horrid tank badges from the CB.
    There were some struggles, some fiddling and a great deal of patience, but the end result was worth it.
    I am really chuffed with the results.
    Hope you enjoy

    Thanks for the video. I can confirm that the 2022 black edition badges are attached the same way and that fishing line was a very easy way to separate the glue.

    I used a heat gun to warm the adhesive just a bit. (it was winter) I suppose the hot sun could do the same job. Then I used high test fishing line to slice through it. Popped right off.

      Me too, just not a big fan of how it's stuck with less effort than the whole design of the bike. I wish they polished the link between the tank and the badge. But I think that modern Honda badge looks so pretty and refined and polished, just like what Honda is about.

    Hmmm, I watched out of curiosity but at the end, I prefer it with the badges. Fly the flag I say! 😀

    These badges are tank edge sliders. Does anyone make tank pointy guards in carbon fiber to add protection back?

    It's funny that you did this because I just picked up my 2019 CB1000R a few weeks ago and I wanna get rid of them ASAP haha. Thanks for the upload.

    I’m going to do this first thing tomorrow. I have a 2023. I’m gonna use a bit of heat, goo gone and polish at the end.

    Agreed....it does indeed look much better without the badge. Nice.

    Just took my off my black edition, it looks so much better not to mention riding and stopping at the light and random people pull up next to you asking you "what is that you're riding" because there's no more emblem. Lol

    I think it looks much better without, but I’d have heated around the the ‘badge’ first then used dental floss to ‘saw’ through the adhesive to remove it from the tank. White spirit or petrol to remove any residue.

      I've used fishing line too

    Has anyone removed the large side transparent stickers located on each side of the tank, as they can trap dirty etc around the edges?

  • @MrEbbitdog

    Tape an old yogurt pot round the badge with the bottom cut out, use hairdryer to heat the badge up locally and the PU adhesive will let go much easier

  • @ianglynwilliams
    @ianglynwilliams 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Gasoline straight out of the tank will remove sticker shit fast and easy... simply dip a tip of paper towel in the gas and dab on the sticker shit, wait a few and wipe... the tank is built to handle gas spills.

      Thats not a bad idea but another comment came in saying using dental floss would've worked too. I like that idea and wished I had thought of it.

    Run braided fishing line behind the badge to cut the glue.

  • @candicecoquin
    @candicecoquin 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I think with a hair dryer to soften the glue and then using rectified Benzine would avoid having to over mark the paint with the plastic tool. Thanks for the video. Indeed this badge is not very nice 😉

    Thanks for the video! I never liked these, they look like the bike has nipples to me. I tried a heat gun but literally the plastic of the emblem started to melt and didn’t have a plastic pry bar so could only pry so hard and chickened out. Think heat and what u did would work great 👍. I also blacked out some of the aluminum pieces and they look great....pretty much what the new blacked out version looks like now.
