You be surprised as to what happened during the war with this unit, in Norway the Norwegian resistance trained by these guys made machineguns underneath the german army headquarters because it would be the last place the german secret police would look according to the guys who set it up lol
Not to mention jumping out of a car with several germans and somehow getting away after killing two of them which actually happened-

Interesting bit of trivia. Christopher Lee was part of the Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare as was his cousin, Ian Fleming.

Christopher Lee was not part of it at all. He was an RAF intelligence officer with 260 Squadron who occasionally briefed the SAS before missions. The myth around Lee's wartime service was debunked by historian and expert on the SAS Gavin Mortimer.

@@justonecornetto80 Actually he was a Special Operations Executive (SOE), but he took those secrets with him to the grave and his files are still sealed. (The organization was informally called the Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare). That's literally in print if you bothered to do any reading on the matter.

I believe the events this movie is based on got declassified in the last few years. As far as I can tell, these are all real people being portrayed. Henry Cavill plays an actual historical figure. As does Alan Ritchson. Ritchson plays a Frogman from the Danish Navy. He was fighting for his occupied country. The SOE gave way for the SAS.

That danish bloke was called Anders Larson “the terrible Viking” he was an incredibly war-y MF’er he was sas, sbs and SOE he won a military cross(the third highest British honour) THREE TIMES ….. AND the Victoria cross (the highest) was a fucking gnarly dude read the stories on him, he had MASSIVE BALLS

I believe he was the only non-Commonwealth citizen to earn the VC, which also makes him pretty rare. He also outlived Phillips, but they both died during the war.
And apparently, the guy hated doing after-action reports - one of them read, 'Landed. Killed Nazis. F*cked off.'

It’s loosely based on the special operations executive, which was basically an arm of British secret intelligence that was tasked with creating sabotage missions all over Europe. Some amazing stories, I think this one is around operation postmaster. There was a film about operation mincemeat a few years ago as well, which was decent. If you like a classic film then the heroes of telemark, with Kurt Douglas is another SOE operation turned into a film. Also a call to spy is another recent SOE based film, again loosely based on a real spies Noor Inayat Khan and Virginia Hall, both of whom have amazing stories.

This film has absolutely nothing to do with video games but based on a true story in the early part of WW2. If you don't believe it there is a video of this British event from a branch of the British Secret Service called the SOE ( SPECIAL OPERATIONS EXECUTIVE). This film is based of a Top Secret Operation called Operation Postmaster which actually happened. My personal favourite WW2 Top Secret Operation was called Operation Mincemeat which was organised by another British Secret Service branch that became a film many years ago and was remaid a couple of years ago. Operation Mincemeat is another incredible story about British Intelligence beating the Nazi mind once again. 💂‍♂️💂‍♂️🇬🇧🇬🇧🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿
