Maybe I'm just old school but I don't care about the best graphics nor did I have any issue with Rebirth on Performance mode. Give me the game on time, with no issues and I'll be happy.

This may sound nitpicky if I don't preface that it's a very minor complaint. But in performance mode for both Intergrade and the Rebirth demo, I noticed some moments where an area wouldn't be totally rendered for less than a second.
Again. It's nowhere near a deal breaker and the games are amazing regardless. But I think it still counts as an issue.

FF7 Rebirth has been the most amazing experience I've ever had in a game. Ever. It's the biggest game I've ever streamed and even though I don't have a big audience on my channel it was still wonderful and amazing to play through. Red XIII being my favorite character of the entire FF universe only made him reaffirm as my favorite character through his stories, his character and personality. All the character developments and stories felt like I was playing a cinematic experience. The zones, cosmo canyon being my favorite were sprawling and incredible. I only have the HIGHEST hopes for Remake 3

UE4 is a good fit for the Remake games and should be used for the final part. The ONLY way an engine change makes sense is if the scope of the third game outpaces UE4. However, I believe Rebirth has shown us that probably won’t be the case.

Don’t get me wrong, I want part 3 like yesterday but I am fine waiting to ensure top quality for visuals and performance. I hear sometimes unreal may look beautiful but performance wise has issues. Rebirth was the first time I could play under graphics mode and didn’t experience issues performance wise (at least on my end) and it was amazinnng. So please Square, do whatever you gotta do to make get top notch quality all around. We can’t wait but we will gladly wait 😂. I really don’t want overall quality sacrificed just to get it out faster.

Also off topic, but i just saw a facebook post on ff7 fan page where someone who had only played the remakes had no idea that cloud was never in soldier, and has no idea why cloud is going crazy.
And that is something i've never even thought of. That these games havent even explained that stuff yet. I really wonder how well that reveal would work only in the remakes, and how this trilogy is even perceived by people who know nothing about ff7 going in.
How much of it does a newcomer actually understand about what is happening so far by the end of rebirth?

    • @patriotsfan122480
      @patriotsfan122480 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +9

They’re the first part of the OG game. If you had stopped the OG in the same spot as Rebirth ended, you would also never know what Cloud’s going through, but the breadcrumbs have been laid out fairly well in Remake and Rebirth and honestly even outright said (in Remake Hojo can be heard telling Cloud he was never in Soldier, and we get the flashback to Cloud in the tank) which was never explicitly said or shown early in the OG. If they go back and play Remake and Rebirth’s main story, I think they’ll be fine. The questions they have at that stage are all questions I had when I first played OG, difference is, I could keep playing the rest of the game.
I think the biggest issue with it is people replaying all the games (30+ hrs for Remake, 40+ hrs for Rebirth’s story only, and who knows how long part 3 will take at this point, but bet it’s gonna be a long one) to understand that whole story after waiting years for part 3. Vs OG where, yeah, I immediately went back to replay it with friends to catch all the little things I missed, but whole game probably took 60hrs total to grind and play again. Obviously big fans will do it, but it can be a wall for newcomers overall, along with “where do I start? Do I play OG first? What about Crisis Core Reunion? What about the movie? Do I need to read the books to understand anything? Can I just start with Rebirth, it seems more interesting?” Etc.
I think the story itself, because it was already a single well-plotted story, when all 3 parts are done, will work very well. But the fact they had to split it into 3 parts to work things to this point, and I love many aspects of the Re-trilogy, I do think the wait between games has been a huge hinderance for the series, and it may have been better for Square to just release it as a 1:1 remake. Of course, 10, 15, or even 20 years from now after all 3 games are out and easily available to everyone to play in one go and more easily ready for newcomers then at present, the Re-trilogy could be thought of as the perfect Remake! Only time will tell.

imagine the player that only plays the first part and never plays the others for whatever reason... they will think a lot of things incorrectly because of the way they broke up the game into installments. This was one of the things i really didn't like. ff7 is a full story. by breaking it into parts, you break the story and basically people will not play the others for some reason and never get the full story like they would have had it been a full game in several discs.

    • @DaRkLoRd-rc5yu
      @DaRkLoRd-rc5yu 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

@patriotsfan122480 yeah I think some people will wait until all parts are out anyway. And Xbox players are forced to lol.
But I don't mind getting it in parts. Whether it's frustrating for people trying to follow the plot for the first time. I don't know. But the long waits do give them plenty of time to go back and play other parts of the compliation namely the OG.
But I think they will do an all in one collection when it's all done. Like they did with Kingdom hearts, and how they bundled rebirth with remake if you bought it digitally.
But I think you're right it certainly does give more hints at what is actually happening, but I think it's probably just enough to keep it a mystery without actually revealing it.
I don't think it's possible to put everything together from what they have hinted at. Although cloud rememberimg Zack being at nibelhiem is certainly interesting. Although he thinks he is just the random soldier that got washed down the river and died.
I'm actually kind of envious of the people who will find out the Zack reveal through the remake as I think they're going to do a really good job with it.

I think if you don’t know at least half of what’s going on with cloud you’re not looking into it hard enough. If the og never existed everyone would be making breakdown vids to find out what’s going on and we’d all know what was going by now lol. They literally showed cloud as a shinra trooper and gave him lines. They also put clouds head on Zack’s body in the nibelheim flashback.
If they didn’t have Zack in the game then we’d definitely be confused but with him in the game it’s pretty obvious

I mean it’ll certainly be interesting to see how a title like KH4 turns out once it’s re-revealed, since it also started development as an UE4 game and then switched over to UE5, which more or less restarted its development, much like how KH3 switched engines mid-development. Who knows, maybe the experience from both teams working on both engines will lead to some interesting future titles when UE5 becomes industry standard lol.

From a fan perspective: 100% if it'll only cost them 3-6 additional months to upgrade to UR5, please do it ASAP. I'll happily wait. In 3-4 years Rebirth level graphics might look average and this remake deserves better than that. From a business perspective: as an Accountant, it is truly hard to know what the cost benefit is without actually seeing their costing numbers and ROI expectations. Since those numbers aren't published, we can estimate but we do so without any tangible clarity. All we can go on is the fact they are pondering the possibility publicly, meaning it isn't something out of reach budget or sale impact-wise from their perspective and they are perhaps softly trying to gauge public interest in upgrading to UR5.

This is a long reply I wrote on this video, but if you want or have time to read this is my take, I am just a fan but I am obsessed with gaming tech and how it advances, and the Remake Trilogy Project being one of my favorite games of all time, I have been following UE5's development ever since the announcement back in 2020 and how it relates with this remake project. Here's what I wrote...
"I have to disagree with you saying the graphical mode currently is crystal clear. In a lot of the outside areas, you are literally seeing pop in 5-6 feet in front of you, that's bad... You see absolutely horrendous low-resolution PS2 level textures blended in with the nicer higher 4k textures in EVERY MAP, and don't even get me started on the outer layer terrain and distant foliage, that aren't even nice looking 2-d textures of trees, but LITERAL GREEN BLOTCHY TRIANGLES STUCK TOGETHER. Lighting as well for baked lighting looks amazing, but it has issues with leaving dark areas, and there's more texture issues too with the characters clothing themselves where sometimes it will be blurry for a while before you see for example Aeriths dress finally come back into detail. Yes, I would say majority of the graphics, like 80% look nice, and artistically no one can come close to FF's worlds imo, but the graphics mode definitely is not performing up to par especially when you compare it to other AAA's like Horizon for example. Given that they designed this around PS5 hardware(which the excuse for Remake was that it was limited by PS4's slow hardware) it leads me to believe the texture issues, etc. are not because of PS5 limitations but because of the old ancient UE4 engine itself...
I was DESPERATE for them to switch engines for Part 2 given we are now outside of Midgar and it would have been wonderful, but I understand why they decided not to, since UE5 didnt release in full production mode until April 2022 and by then they had already been fully into production for Rebirth, and not only that but the engine was still new when it released and needed more time to develop better...
HOWEVER with all that being said, I am PRAYING T GODDD they decide to make the switch. It's NOT JUST ABOUT BETTER GRAPHICS! UE5 is great not just graphically for Nanite and Lumen, but also because it DOES help improve FPS and performance at the same time and they have other developer tools like "World Partition", which breaks up massive maps into a grid to make it easier to edit and bug fix massive maps cause they can go into individual grid squares as needed as well as load in each grid square as you're playing the game which helps with memory performance etc. and they have the "One File Per Actor" which allows devs to go into the game at the same time if needed and work and edit in real-time which UE4 was not capable of. Sure, there might be a 3-4 month let's say transition/adjustment period, but when they are fully locked in and loaded, all of these tools help make developing the game faster, kind of like you have to sacrifice some time to save some time. NOT ONLY THAT, but UE5 has officially been in full production for 2.5 years now and is already at patch 5.4 and 5.5 will be out around November of this year, ALL these upgrades made to the engine can also be utilized. Foliage(trees, grass, bushes) all can be used now with Nanite and run at incredible detail and performance, they don't have to take time baking ANY more light because of Lumen doing it automatically, and Nanite they don't have to author LOD's anymore either, IT DOES IT FOR THEM, in addition to the developers tools that take unnecessary time and work away from them so they can focus more on other things.
I will end with this as well... when Part 3 comes and goes, that's it, the FF7 Remake Trilogy Project is done, it's over... Square has stated recently going forward, their goal is to "aggressively" make their IP's multi-platform. Another benefit of UE5, is it is easy to program their games made on it for multiple platforms due to it's ability to adjust performance based on the different hardware capabilities. LONG TERM, I think it would be wise for Square to switch engines, they could even go back and upgrade Part 2 when Part 3 is done, sell it as a Trilogy package on PC and Xbox as well, and make a lot more sales. Could they do this after Part 3 if they stick with the pipeline they have now, sure, but that's wasted time... the President said Rebirth did not sell as expected(they say that a lot for FF games yes) so I think they should go out with a bang and really give us something special. Part 3 is gonna release right around the time of the PS6, so I think it would be wise to make the switch, upgrade Part 2(maybe also Part 1 as well) and sell it as a trilogy package to get people hype to replay it on PS6, Nextbox and PC to help give the series more longevity, they have to think a decade, 2 decades after it's release when newer gamers want to play it, is it going to hold up tech wise or will it be like playing the OG FF7 today? Remember, this is not just any Square Enix IP, it is a full blown remake of their highest selling and most beloved FF of all time, even if you are not into JRPG's or RPG's you have heard of how great the OG FF7 was, it was impactful and I don't believe they can deliver that same impactfulness to modern audiences/tech if they don't make the upgrade, will it be great yes, but based on recent articles/comments of how they expect Part 3 to be one of the greatest games of all time, it won't meet that mark if they don't upgrade engines to upgrade it's potential... Here is a link to the article btw..."

As always NSP, you're insights are amazing and incredibly intuitive. I agree with you, I think they should just stick with UE4 with the custom tools they have for the game and wait until after it's released to do a remastered version of it like they did with Remake for Intergrade. It's so sad because I personally know a couple who have passed away sadly whom I wished were still here to witness this great work of art with the rest of us. We're all getting older and as we age we learn that our time is even more valuable than ever. Don't get me wrong, I want the best possible game but not at the cost of not meeting budget for SE, quality of product, and other important aspects.

I agree NSP, I think sticking with UE4 to finish out the trilogy is the best call for now. I’m sure in the long run, getting their team up to date with 5 would be good, but right now we’re probably looking at least 7 years in total for the entire trilogy to be completed (if not longer) from Remake’s official drop in 2020 to possibly at best 2027 for part, and that’s wishful thinking on our part. Save UE5 for future games, stick with UE4 and try to stay on time and on budget for part 3.
I wish Hamoguchi-san would have made this decision closer to a year ago, rather then right now when we kind of already know the story for part 3 has mostly been completed, thanks to translated interviews. That way it gave the team a year’s head start to transfer over the things they needed or to at least figure out what they needed to do if they wanted to jump to UE5 for part 3. Maybe that is something some of them started looking at and prepping for a while ago, I don’t know, but him bringing it up right now certainly doesn’t feel like it.

This is precisely the game engine problem that plagued square enix during the playstation 3 period, and it would be wiser to keep Unreal Engine 4 to maintain visual continuity. And reserve the switch to Unreal Engine 5 for Final Fantasy XVII. In any case, a graphics engine has a fairly long lifespan. The final instalment in a trilogy is likely to be even less popular than the 2nd. So we might as well stick with what's working really well at the moment. They could even add a touch of ‘polish’ in 5 years' time with an EU5 version by redoing the 3 episodes and making us pay again lol.

I agree that the game should perform at its best, and if switching to Unreal Engine 5 achieves that, then it's a great move. Regarding graphics, I understand your point, but we must acknowledge that graphics should sometimes be secondary in video games. Developers are overly focused on graphics rather than gameplay. Unreal Engine 5 could indeed be ideal for the endgame. I wouldn't oppose a remake, perhaps something like "Final Fantasy 7A: A Future Untold." I'd love to see them remake the entire game with significant changes, not everything, but enough to refresh it. If I were in charge, I'd encourage them to unleash their creativity. However, that's just my take on game development. I'll reiterate: I want them to create a unique game, not a repeat or copy of previous works. While Final Fantasy 7 isn't a carbon copy of the original, as it includes new elements not present in the past game, I do wish they'd alter certain aspects like the story, dialogue, and ending. Introducing a new character or romantic options would be exciting. There's so much potential, but it seems they hesitate due to the original fans' resistance to change. I'm an original fan myself, but I'm open to new ideas. Change can be good..

But I wonder about UE4 of course, since they already used tools from UE5 to make the game better. And supposedly UE5 helps with open world. On part 3 there will be the highwind, the submarine and even the weapon battles will be phenomenal events.
Even though I understand, I don't really like this idea of kind pressuring the development of the last game to release as soon as possible. I only see it affecting creativity and/or quality of the game. If it doesn't affect, by all means, the sooner the better I guess. I just don't want a possible regret in the future that the game could have been even greater. It seems like the fans kinda rather have the game asap than a game at its full potential using the best tools available. I don't like just even thinking the idea of possibly compromising the quality of the game to release it sooner. Let the devs cook.
Also, it's weird but when you think about it by 2027/2028 we will be closer if not already there to UE6, and UE4 will be older and older. By then too, games like GTA6 will be already out (assuming it does well and impresses). There's a chance people may raise their standards for certain games.
Again, I just want them to create the best game possible with the best tools available that they have access to.

I have to disagree with you saying the graphical mode currently is crystal clear.
Part 3 is gonna release right around the time of the PS6, so I think it would be wise to make the switch, upgrade Part 2(maybe also Part 1 as well) and sell it as a trilogy package to get people hype to replay it on PS6, Nextbox and PC to help give the series more longevity after Part 3 is released, they have to think a decade, 2 decades after it's release when newer gamers want to play it, is it going to hold up tech wise or will it be like playing the OG FF7 today? Remember, this is not just any Square Enix IP, it is a full blown remake of their highest selling and most beloved FF of all time, even if you are not into JRPG's or RPG's you have heard of how great the OG FF7 was, it was impactful and I don't believe they can deliver that same impactfulness to modern audiences/tech if they don't make the upgrade, will it be great yes, but based on recent articles/comments of how they expect Part 3 to be one of the greatest games of all time, it won't meet that mark if they don't upgrade engines to upgrade it's potential... Here is a link to the article btw...

Square can't afford to be anything less than flawless with FF7 and Rebirth got pretty damn close despite its shortcomings. UE5 is the way to go. Even if it means that the game will take an extra year or launch at the start of a PS6 generation (because what we see now, the previous gen is going to be around for a while anyway before a new gen even launches - and with how the PS5 gen is going, wouldn't hurt if the console - bar the sales, could push 10 years as opposed to the normal 8.)
And do development costs matter if they've already been paid for the trilogy and are discussing the possibility of using UE5 anyway? it doesn't seem like money is an issue here since Sony fronted the cost of the whole 7R project.

Even if it takes a few extra months I'm fine with that if the game looks better. Hopefully it's not locked to PlayStation for a year to.

I don’t care about the graphics, I just want them to have more rpg mechanics in the game. Stat progression, skill progression. I feel like Rebirth was a step back from Remake in terms of progression since the weapons just upgraded themselves, I’d like a more interesting system that lets you customize your characters builds.

i think they should release the last part on the current engine, since the harcore fans are already on the bag, and save the upgrade for when they eventually (because we all know they will) release the ENTIRE game trilogy in a single pack, let the PC people handle size and performance matters, give those 3090s or wathever GC is the current powerhouse a worthy opponent

Stick to current engine, that way I can get 60FPS when it releases. I’d rather take 60FPS with a lower resolution. Liked rebirth including the ending so looking forward to play part 3 (FVII Return) at 60FPS.

Honestly yhe other factors are the dei and the possibility they made add a censored update like they did with the first ff7 remake. And fans are not happy of derailing from the original story as well as the possible that many are sick and tired of multiverse theme and degrades the choices made in the game meaningless.

Here's what I think should also guide development: Will you be able to play FFVII: Part 3 on the same machine on which you played FFVII: Remake? I think keeping a limited series like this technologically constrained so that all parts of the game can run on the same hardware is important. IMO, it'd be frustrating to have to get a new console or PC upgrade just to play Part 3 when I was able to play Part 1 on something else.

    • @supersaiyaman11589
      @supersaiyaman11589 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

well that is the problem with just keeping games on one platform isn't it. game consoles while they are good are limiting while a pc can run a lot more games.

    • @supersaiyaman11589

i also think limiting a game too one platform normally decreases sales because fewer people have access to it. final fantasy 7 rebirth is a perfect example limiting it too ps5 hurt there sales numbers i think. i cant be the only person that didn't buy rebirth because it want on pc.

"IMO, it'd be frustrating to have to get a new console or PC upgrade just to play Part 3 when I was able to play Part 1 on something else."
We already had to buy a PS5 if we wanted to play Rebirth. So we already can't play both of them on the same platform Remake released on. Hell, even Remake's DLC wasn't compatible with the PS4.
If they had tried to keep releasing them all on the PS4, they would have already been severely restricted for Rebirth, especially when wanting to have an open world while keep graphical fidelity equivalent to Remake.
Imo it would have only worked had they done a traditional remake in one game and compromised where needed, or released them in a much shorter timeframe to keep it all within the same generation.
But with that second option they'd have rebirth looking visibly worse graphics-wise than Remake due to being open world and having to compromise since they wouldn't have had more power to play with, so if we stick with the trilogy route, I feel what they actually did with the multi gen releases is the better bet than a trilogy all tethered to the same hardware limitations.

Just get FF7 P3 out ASAP working great in UE4. Then come back and rerelease the entire Remake, Rebirth, and P3 in UE5. It’ll happen either for the PS5 Pro or the PS6.

I'd rather they didn't tbh. Id rather they invested that time in enhancing current engine and bringing lighting up to Remake's standard.
I also hope the characters dont get too enhanced.
Reason being is that I want these games to all feel part of a larger sum and not disjointed.

I think that part 3 is going to eat up 200 gigabytes minimum and 350 maximum due to how big that part 3 is going to be and how much money they are putting on this re trilogy, the biggest thing is I want remake part 3 to be better than remake and rebirth combined.

  • @NiktrickSpade

I completely disagree that the devs are to move to UE5. You have games changing engines but this takes time, resources and the devs have mentioned it already before - running with the same team on the tools which everybody on the team is familiar with and are free to CONTINUE their work, instead of readjusting and restarting progress on a different engine is just the better way to go.
We already saw that they are more than capable of delivering the scope of part 3 on UE4, the only issue is the airship traversal which they are working on.
The only major complaint being mentioned all the time for Rebirth is the Performance/Graphics mode issue. I mean, seriously?
In a market where games (major and small releases) are literally released INCOMPLETE, buggy and outright bad, this is what deters the game? ffs
I'm sorry for the rant but this is really baffling for me.

I'd watch asking them to prioritize PC. Japanese devs and PC ports don't really mix, at least console ports are consistent. SE really doesn't need a day 1 version of the initial 7REmake PC launch. That would crater their chances at good sales on PC. Best to let them release on whatever platform they can make it stable for, then release other ports AS THEY ARE READY.
PC is a nightmare to ship a port for due to the millions of potential hardware combos, much rather them dial the game on a known entity first thanks.

Porting to PC is extra work, but you're not going to be testing for millions of different potential hardware combos.
