I love the fact that your demos aren't about showing off your gear as people like Phillip Mcknight do. It's all affordable stuff. I try to tell people all the time, "Sound is in your hands, not your wallet". Thanks for keeping it real.
So true, but wouldn't you agree that let's say the mid-priced gear, which is not the high end/go on bankrupcy thing would get out of your way and actually help you a little bit, so you feel more inspired and ready to rip it up?
Yeah... I'm kinda over "new" gear, having found a pretty happy place with the likes of MXR, EHX, TC, DigiTech... Would I like a modulation pedal by Walrus? Yes! But more thrilling is finding great inexpensive gear. I think I may just get the Joyo for my second "high" gain board. I need a TS to tighten up the high gain from my Ibanez s series into the berhinger vintage tube monster!!
Thank you, Max! You're saving me a lot of money!! Also, love the blooper at the end!! Keep doing what you do, man! It's VERY helpful to those of us who aren't fabulously wealthy like many of the other guitar TH-camrs who demo stuff!
I liked the sound of this pedal over the TS because it's brighter. You can always use your tone knob on your guitar to cut back the brightness of a bright pedal, but you generally can't make a dark pedal sound brighter unless you do it at your amp and then EVERYTHING sounds a bit too bright.
I own one of these pedals and was fortunate enough to test it against an original Ibanez pedal and it's damn hard to tell which is which without looking. I would gladly recommend this pedal to anyone in the market for a tube screamer.
Finally, an OD pedal review on an already dirty amp channel. They all seem to be reviewed/demo'd on clean channels. I'm just looking to give my little amp a bit more punch/volume
It’s nice to hear this pedal in a hard rock/metal context. A lot of the demos I’ve seen have been more blues based, and not really playing alot of chords either. So this is perfect l! Great playing btw!
I have a Joyo tremolo, compressor, and noise gate, and can't believe how good they are. I had a Joyo Chorus, a clone of the 80s Boss mono chorus, and gave it to a friend because he lacked a chorus, and it's excellent. Joyo is a game-changer. If I didn't already own both a Tube Screamer and a TC Mojomojo, the Joyo Overdrive would be in my signal chain.
I recently bought one and am pleased with the tones out of it. I play classic rock and to me it sounds best with a lower gain setting around 10/11 o'clock on the knob. I installed a bass boost dpdt switch; just ran 2 wires from the C10 capacitor to the middle lugs and put a .047 capacitor on the outer lugs. It beefs up my Strat nicely without being muddy, sounds more tube-like. I just revert back to no boost when playing my humbucker-equipped guitars.
I'd love to see you continue the budget Playlists with everything from guitars to strings and strap locks the professionalism and honesty is most definitely admirable and it helps a lot of people with a limit its also a prime example of why you shouldn't always be In a break the bank mentality
Re-watching the video; I was going for this one but was sold off in Amazon UK and my gas led me to get the electro harmonix soul food, it's great, but 3 times more expensive and the Joyo sounds amazing for the price! So, listen to Max boys and girls!
The Pro of a peddle board is that you can turn on or off any effect you want without playing with dials and switches. Having to hit a button two or three times to get the same thing with a multi effects pedal can totally screw your timing up. Let a lone what happens when you hit the button to many times. (Picture KISS's first live album).
I remember I had an old Ibanez / Maxon multieffects pedal which had analouge distortion and digital chorus/delay from somewhere the late 80’ies/ early 90ies. It was very easy to control (just a few switches and LEDs, not complicated digital menus), too bad they don’t build pedals like that anymore.
@@Mr.Goldbar what if I need like 5 pedals on during first bar and then all off for the second bar? So I must tap dancing like crazy? Multi effects win in terms of presets bank because you have multiple setup possible

After using one D’addario premium instrument cable with my old cheap one it worked like a charm, so keep in mind to make sure your cables are compatible with the pedal.
"I know, it's green, it's an overdrive pedal, and it's kind of a knock-off of an Ibanez Tubescreamer." Yeah, it literally says on the box that it's a Tubescreamer. I'm not kidding. MaxxxwellC Something along the sound of an Ibanez 808 or Boss BD-2? Any budget blues tube amps or similar; maybe a Joyo blues amp (Bluejay?) review, and of course, a guitar that replicates the '59 Strat sound or similar or inexpensive blues pickups for Strats, Teles and E335 type guitars?
Sounds good. I see you changed the pickguard on the Ammoon. Nice. Mine arrives today. Have you ever reviewed the NUX pedals. They seem very low cost with metal casing. Was considering a few.
I changed the bridge and neck pickups (which I'll do a future review on), but the other electronics and pickguard are original. I also removed the string trees from the headstock. The pickups made a huge difference! I haven't had the chance to try the NUX pedals although I did have a NUX combo amp that sounded fantastic.
I've heard that removing the string trees improves the tone, on the strings that use them. I didn't notice any change in tuning stability. And to be honest, it's hard to tell the difference in the tone from the string trees since the pickups made such a difference. I should have done the changes one at a time and not all together. Not fuzz like, but something with enough gain, and yet enough mids and seperation between notes, etc. I have a little 40 watt Pignose 1 x 10 amp that just doesn't have enough gain without playing really loud. It all depends on what kind of sound you want to get out of your guitar. There are so many different pedals that do all sorts of things. Just have a look around and get what you think you are likely to use with the kind of music you are into. If there is a guitarist that makes a cool sound that you'd like to make check out what they are using.

Between this pedal and the clone of bb preamp xotic (orange burst caline) which one would you choose?
Just got one of these as my first Overdrive Pedal ..... WOW. Amazing
Joyo JF-07 Classic Flanger. I'm wondering if its at all like the MXR-117. I think for the price I'm just gonna get one anyway.
Budget Joyo Overdrive+budget Strat+budget Rail Pickups=High Dollar Tones🤘🏼🎸⚡️⚡️
Man these are awesome for budget minded people like me. Not as good as the real thing but cost half the price. I have ultimate drive too . Booth together sound excellent
Is this considered as a low gain pedal or mid gain?
What do you think of the Caline c49 overdrive pedal I'm a guy on a budget so it's joyo vs Caline to be my main overdrive pedal thanks
What this on the Blackstar amp?
The clean sounds very good.
I wanna know bout all the basic pedals an intermediate guitarist would need!
It all depends on what kind of sound you want to get out of your guitar. There are so many different pedals that do all sorts of things. Just have a look around and get what you think you are likely to use with the kind of music you are into. If there is a guitarist that makes a cool sound that you'd like to make check out what they are using.
What pickup are you using at bridge position? Is it a dimarzio dp218?

I like these Joyo individual pedals much more than their presets pedals like the Atmosphere and Aquarius.
Nice channel sir, you got yourself a New subscriber.
Thanks!
Does Joyo make a Carl Martin Plexitone(ish) pedal?
Hey great video! why no black mascara though?
I was in a hurry.
lol (holidays eh) Im subscribing! Cheers!
Maxwell can you do a rig roundown of your gig
any reviews on guitar processors? like digitech??
Spectacular, awesome
Comes with cables?
how do you add delay to it?
If I buy this pedal will my pecs grow as well?
Do the pockrock. I believe it has drums or something. Plus a lot of effects. This paddle seems like a good deal. I was looking at them. Good review!
Is this a distortion? Im a newbie
I am interested in the joyo r-05. Could you demo that please.
I literally won this pedal on a yotube contest and my pedal board is currently all joyo...joyo compression>joyo vintage od>joyo atmosphere reverb > joyo aquarius delay with a joy digital delay As a tag along. Joyo is the best kept secret. They make some shit pedals but they make some super gorgeous ones as well...and those mini 20w heads are sick
what is sound like if I stack this with cool music insane distortion?
Would it sound good on emg pickups?
Can I ask about the power supply you've used? Or it's connected directly to the computer?
I just ran this one off the battery!
Guitar MAX Oh, that's also an option :) Thank you.
I was trying to find the right pedal distortion overdrive or fuzz I know it’s in the gain but this rlly helped me a lot, I’m not a twang enthusiast but it some reason I jut can’t find distortion pedals I like to I think the over drive is right I want to avoid the super sustained sound as well like with distortion pedals blech so wet and slippery sounding I like Hendrix, Radiohead, Jeff Buckley and Muse amongst others and it’s like wtf
Got mine for 25 dollars, absolutely nothing wrong with it!
Is it good for playing pop punk such as simple plan or green day
Yeah.... although a pedal with more gain / distortion might be even better. Like the Joyo Ultimate Drive.
I would love to see you do a
review on a Yamaha Pacifica 012
