Hekkeran, Imina and Roberdyck definitely had it much much worse than Arche. Hekkeran and Imina became nests for parasites (in the web novel it was mentioned that they gained weight if I recall) whereas Roberdyck lost his mind due to Ainz' experiments on his brain and he end up becoming a human meatball in the web novel (as in, he was kept alive but his limbs were cut off and his torso were skinned alive and flesh eating monsters constantly chew on his flesh and the chunk would get healed afterwards).
In the web novel, Arche's life was spared and thus she would be forever haunted by guilt while living in Nazarick knowing her friends are currently suffering fates worse than death, not to mention she was put under Shalltear's management of all people. Death is indeed mercy compared to that. But at least her sisters were saved in the web novel. In the light novel, Maruyama mentioned in an interview that they were sold to slavery and died from overwork.
Why did Ainz punished them like that? Because Ainz is extremely petty. He's very petty, he knows it, acknowledges it and embraces it. Hekkeran just lied and gave him false hope of meeting his old friends. That angers him greatly and even if his emotional suppression took care of his anger, his hatred and pettiness remains. That's why he ranted before fighting them and even the greatest mercy he's willing to give them is death.

I know the rule is don't kill cute girls but I think Ainz is a pretty good guy. He is very loyal and I have nothing but respect for a later on when he said a leader is suppose to take responsibility for an underlings actions to protect them not to force blame on them
