"We heard you like mechanics. So we've put mechanics in your mechanics so you can do mechanics while doing mechanics." - Boss Encounter Team, probably.
Me, two years late to the party, having only just finished Shadowbringers and about to excitedly queue for Copied Factory: "I really love Nier. I'm gonna give this raid a go before I start Endwalker." Me, after watching this guide: "I should absolutely start Endwalker right now, and then level up every job the game has to offer."
For people who have trouble with the second boss, I'd recommend to simply set your character and camera so the latter is always facing the wall. In fact, there is absolutely no need to have the boss visible during the encounter, so seeing the wall during the whole fight gives you more time to identify the incoming mechanic (steel crate with the bombs etc) so you can position yourself properly. Regarding the third boss, it is worth noting that the tiny adds don't explode. In fact, it is simply 2P using a missile barrage which wipes them off and also deal moderate damage on the bigger adds. Therefore, they can be safely ignored.
That's what I do. He literally has no attacks that require you to see what he is doing himself. If you just keep your camera panned towards the back you will always see what's coming.
The ingame text literally tells you to do exactly that. A lot of people don't pay attention to what the NPCs are saying during encounters when they often tell you of an incoming mechanic, and how to avoid it xD.
Oh hey, I'm glad I can see me failing the very easy laser mechanic like a dumbarse warrior at 2:00 so now it's forever imprinted on the internet for everyone to see
It helps to mark 2P with a marker. The first run always starts at the south side of the platform. She also only moves right after the 3rd bombing pattern is drawn on the ground (not when its being fired)
Came here to say the same thing. We discovered this last night and it was a huge help in dodging the bombing runs. Especially that second set as it can get hectic.
if you stand on one of the inner circles on the ground where the little arrow is you can pretty easily dodge them with minimal movement it puts you right on the outer edge of the strikes so just have to move a little bit and you should be fine
I have such a love/hate relationship with this raid. It's oh so good, but it doesn't seem to matter how well you know it, you will die. Often. Sometimes because people are stupid, or because you took 0.8 seconds to scratch your nose. Oh, and since I main WHM, if I had a dime for every time she says "healers beware"... probably would pay my subscription.
BLM main of seven years. There's a reason I call this raid 'dance dance revolution' with the floor lit up that much... I dusted off my MNK last year just to run this and the Eden ones like Sepulture Savage.
6:03 Area Bombing Maneuver does NOT follow the targetted player, they move in a straight line towards the edge of the room, the tether only determines what direction each set of bombs travels in. So there's really no need to run far away with them, just point them in a safe direction and then side-step the path once the tether goes away. I know it's only a mini-boss and doesn't really matter, but it seems like hardly anyone has noticed how this attack actually works.
Right! The only thing that running farther away gets you is more time to evade the line of bombs (and better visibility of where the line is pointing for the benefit of the rest of the raid).
Went into this totally blind, was told "Welcome to war, kid" by a tank, and miraculously made it out only dying about four times while managing to res five people as an rdm who has never had the opportunity to do so since hitting lvl 80. Never have a witnessed a miracle. Then I did the 2nd raid and died more times than I can count. Also flung myself off the ledge multiple times. These raids are brutal. Thank you for the play by play :)
Not only that, but every Systematic Suppression after the first will target 1 row or column first, then a row *and* column simultaneously. Meaning that while you'll have half the platform as the safe spot for the first "firing" during the mechanic, you'll only have a quarter of the platform safe during the second "firing". Again, pay attention to where the lasers spawn in, and avoid as needed.
An extra tip for the bombing runs that happen during Undock on the final boss; before each wave 2P will move to the side of the arena that is furthest from where they will start, so move over to her to give yourself more time to react.
I just beat Shadowbringers and thought I'd pass the time 'till Endwalker by doing the Nier raids. But it seems I'll be passing the time doing DoH/DoL stuff instead. 😬
Hooray, someone who actually mentioned the three platforms having different mechanics on the Hobbes fight! Also, I find it easier to avoid the Ring Laser attack by waiting until the outermost ring lands, and then moving there to avoid the rest of the rings (as opposed to just standing in the very middle of the platform). This particularly makes avoiding other mechanics happening simultaneously a little easier.
Note about Hobbes if your healers are dead / in trouble, if you they ar edead on sides the of your platform and are ressed by another alliances healer, they will be on their platform for a bit, however when hobbes rotates the platforms to another mechanic, the misplaced players will be sucked back to their alliance via underground pipes. So don't worry if you aren't with your alliance, as long as they know which side the healers can reach them on then it should be fine!
A small tip for Hobbes' big claw aoes. You dont have to rotate with it. If you are in a safe zone there will pretty much always be another safe zone close enough to where you are standing to get into after it rotates.
I didn't notice the android first, thought it was just another robot. The raid was rather underwhelming for someone who didn't play Nier, hopefully it'll get better later.
Some tips: On the first boss during the Systematic Airstrike, the outer bombers only go about 80% around their marked path. If you put yourself behind where they initially start up on their route you don't need to move for the ability's duration. Makes life a lot easier when the knock back happens on the second time around, especially because you can't fall off this first platform. Also, just keep running till your recital drops off and the laser stops during Systematic Targeting, you never have to take the damage from that attack for any reason. Others can move just as much as you have to. Additionally, during Hobbes' boss, you can escape the Ring Laser if you run out after the ring is on its way down. This will save platform C some tears when Hobbes decided to use the Ring Laser during a box drop or when the center is about to be hit with burning oil.
I got this on Roulette last night, but hadn't played it before as I'd only just unlocked it that day. Didn't realise Roulette would drop me into it when I hadn't first played it normally. :') Let the Alliance know I was brand new to this. However, it was a great strategy by the healers to help someone new to the raid in their group and it worked in being able to spot them with the raid markers running to avoid massive damage.
I know others have said it, but I also found it to be helpful to turn my camera away from Hobbes in that fight. Another tip for Monks is the timing of Riddle of Earth is important too. A lot of the damage can be avoided if you’re on your toes, and it’s better to save it from a guaranteed Earth’s Reply than to try and time out every sixty seconds like I’d normally do in a boss fight.
Hamburger Jack Hobbes in particular is a lot to keep track of, but none of them are difficult by any means. The biggest trick to passing this one is remembering that Hobbes in the middle doesn’t do much, and going in knowing that definitely helps a lot. The flight unit miniboss also has a giant frontal cleave that works similar to Eden Prime. It will fly to one end of the room and leave a thin safe strip behind it. It's pretty easy to see and avoid but it's worth noting because while it looks similar to the half room cleave it operates a little differently.

Wow just listening to all this was overwhelming. I can't even imagine how intense this must have been when it first released and no one had any clue what comes next. xD
Forgot about the first boss using either Sidestriking or Centrifugal spin. Covered the first one, but missed that. Edit: Also didn't mention that, while 9S is undocked, 2P will leap to the far side of the arena opposite of where 9S' bombing run will start from.
Just did my first one today it was all good until the 9s fight I couldn’t keep up with my black mage rotation and all the mechanics it was so stressful but still fun!
Hello, Mizzteq. I'm a tank main who recently made the jump from console to PC and am trying to adjust to tanking with a keyboard and mouse. I was wondering if you could showcase your key bindings. That's the biggest hurdle for me right now. Cant seem to find a comfortable mix of having mobility and quick access to skills and cooldowns.
Love these guides, they are concise and short, but cover everything one needs to understand what's going on. Don't know if you still read comments on older videos, but one small bit of feedback: Tells/Animations in the background footage are relatively difficult to discern due to the turned-on effects. It's not impossible to understand, but since you're already going through the hassle of showing the specific mechanics while you talk about them, turning player effects down to limited might make it easier for many newbies like me to understand.
i was having a hard time seeing which way the last boss is facing because so much attacks i seen in your video there a tiny arrow showing thanks helps a lot with all the AoE going off..
Only problems I had in this was the dual-flank cannons and front-hind cannons cause I could barely see and couldn't tell when he was going to do it but I geuss I need to look at the bar that shows what hes about to do more often.
For the big electric claw i found a sweet spot you can stand with minimal movement. If you stand close to a triangle side in the first strike. That way if you get another triangle you wont have to move. If its the circle you will be really close to the center.
I should have watched this before I queued for CF last night. Although with as confusing as it was last night, even seeing everything explained in detail doesn’t clear it up much. It was more, “Yep, that’s why I died there. And that is what killed me that time”. Fortunately I got my 2B glamour on the first try. I never get that lucky, so praise for small miracles
I got massacred on my first try. But will practice on it. I just hope the second and final raid would have voice acting. The orbonne monastery dungeon was effing epic. I love their voice acting especially Agrias. "Oh divine light! Send us from our sins!"
One year ago. I know this sounds bad but..... I wish they made this a little less painful in the meantime. Guess I’ll finally find out! Thanks for the insanely scary video! 🤣 Stay safe. ❤️
I just unlocked this and i'm after the 2B coffer, so here i go .. hopefully blessed by the RNG gods and i'll get it first try. All these mechanics are so overwhelming as a new player, like holy shit.. I really don't feel like repeating this X amount of times before i get lucky on a 2B roll xD LITERALLY BLESSED. I had to roll against quite a few people and ofcourse i roll LOW, but i still won a 2b coffer on my first go, and the pod pet :o Night can't be ruined now.
Love it! Engels and 9S remind me of the Nier Automata credits. Even if you die, your Alliance will support you, urging you to not give up. XD Edit: And the tears won't stop coming.
Did this series of raids over the last 48hrs and was the most crazy raids ever going in totally blind new to the raids. But now i know why i kept dying over and over to that "Precision Guided Missile" style attack on the tank having no idea what it was before it exploded and me with it. Now i know for next time and more. However, since I was new as the Tank in my group, both Healers raid icon marked themselves and just told me to follow them when they moved to avoid boss stuff and that helped immensely to dodge boss mechanics i had no idea of.
I did this for the first time last night and holy shart I was *so* overwhelmed but loving all of it. I think I only died like 3 or 4 times which isn't so bad for how long the raid is. I'm a huge fan of NieR:Automata. It was the reason I set a goal to play xiv and get to the collab from the beginning of this year. I'm so glad I stuck with it, I am a very happy Sprout!
"Okay I'll watch a guide so I can do better next time after dying like 5 times and giving healers headache" *watches guide* "I apologize to any healer in advance, I don't have the braincells to remember all of this"
I really want to get into Alliance Raids but man, this is a lot to remember. I ran this once blind to avoid spoilers as a NieR Automata fan and died a whooooole lot. I don't want to be a burden on the team or an MP sink for the healers so I'm watching guides like this but how on the hell am I supposed to remember all of these mechanics?
Don't worry about it too much. There aren't too many mechanics that are totally unique to any individual fight, so the more you do, the more familiar you'll be with the game in general. Then, rather than panicking about remembering the whole video, you just have to worry about the telegraphs for unmarked AoEs like "Marx smash" in the Engel fight. Also, groups will put up with a lot for first timers, since there's added rewards for anyone that's completed it for helping a new person.
On the last boss when the 3 adds spawn, there is a marker that appears on someone - are you meant to group up or keep away? I tanked for the first time today and got the debuff... Moved towards teammates and a couple died, eliciting plenty of cursing. I thought the symbol meant to group up, or was I wrong?
If you talking mechanic at 11:18 on the video (4 yellow arrows converging into you), that is indeed stack-up marker and you are SUPPOSED to share damage with other 7 players on your team. Problem is situation, when 3+ people on your team are dead, badly wounded already or away from team. In that case, stacking up might just kill everybody who is left (damage split among to few people), and it is BETTER for marked player to sacrifice themselves by running away from others and dying alone. OFC if you are tank, you can also use your invulnerability ability to eat the damage alone.
I’ve done this raid maybe five times and have always gotten alliance c I guess because I don’t recognize any of those other attacks in the hobbes fight
i did this with a few people in my fc to help one of them get a first clear... on the third boss one of them was running around trying to kill us with the tankbuster
The confidence is what got me honestly but I’m curious What happened? This is the first time I saw something like this and I don’t know where to start looking for it. Anyways, great transition and great final results 💪🏽
Yes, actually. Most major bosses in Nier: Automata is based on a philosopher, with a twist on their philosophy. Spoilers from here on. Marx and Engels are literally the means of production. Simone de Beauvoir and Jean Paul Sartre have a similar relationship to how they did in real life, but reversed and perhaps a little more tragic. Simone is endlessly performing her gender for someone who will never look her way. Pascal wagers incorrectly. Ko-shi and Ro-shi, the black and white robots are based off Lao tsu and confucius, and... they're a little murdery. A2 (et tu?) is betrayed by command. 2B (or not to be?) grapples with existentialism and what makes something a living, thinking being. 9S (Ninus' Tomb) is murdered over and over and over again by the person he loves most. There's also Hegel, and I don't know enough to make a proper connection here, but it has a huge interplay with Emil
Sees video length: "Oh nice, it's only 11:43 seconds long, shouldn't be too difficult". Turns down video speed so brain doesn't melt from information overload, ends up watching 30 minute video twice to try committing boss mechanics to memory, gives up and queues for Sastasha.
Centrifugal spin is the only vuln stack I took over the first 3 bosses, and that's just because I didn't have a helpful little voice in my ear warning me about it

Wow just listening to all this was overwhelming. I can't even imagine how intense this must have been when it first released and no one had any clue what comes next. xD
I'm currently at ilvl431 and am looking forward to trying this, it looks hard as shit tho ....
should disable additional ally effects, if for nothing else than for the guide. adds a lot of detrimental visual clutter.
Cant seem to find a comfortable mix of having mobility and quick access to skills and cooldowns.
thanks for all the guides you have made. idk if I wouldve made it without them. 😀
My eyes GENUINELY started to glaze over at the 9S fight and I had to purposely refocus myself because of ALL THEM MECHANICS!
i was having a hard time seeing which way the last boss is facing because so much attacks i seen in your video there a tiny arrow showing thanks helps a lot with all the AoE going off..
I never get that lucky, so praise for small miracles
nice grats! hopefully i'll get queued with people that already have it so it's up for grabs for me :d
I really don't feel like repeating this X amount of times before i get lucky on a 2B roll xD
LITERALLY BLESSED.
I had to roll against quite a few people and ofcourse i roll LOW, but i still won a 2b coffer on my first go, and the pod pet :o
Night can't be ruined now.
Congrats Mizz!
Couldn't watch it live unfortunately
Surprisingly easy to do guideless, for how many mechanics there are. It helps that most of the visual markers are very, very clear!
Love all your vids! (But i love the puns more) you miss "centrifugal spin" wich target the back/front on the first boss :3
This is by far...the most insane 24-man raid ive been in...it's also the first 24 man raid I did on day 1
Love it! Engels and 9S remind me of the Nier Automata credits. Even if you die, your Alliance will support you, urging you to not give up. XD
Edit: And the tears won't stop coming.
I cant wait for you to post the new trials normal an ex fight guide. I love all your videos guide.
Been waiting for this
Watching this as I’m waiting in Duty finder. Awesome video, I won’t be as confused once I get in, LOL.
Thaaanks for the know how to do the thing, got it, robits beep boop *dragoons*
I did this for the first time last night and holy shart I was *so* overwhelmed but loving all of it. I think I only died like 3 or 4 times which isn't so bad for how long the raid is.
I'm a huge fan of NieR:Automata. It was the reason I set a goal to play xiv and get to the collab from the beginning of this year. I'm so glad I stuck with it, I am a very happy Sprout!
"Okay I'll watch a guide so I can do better next time after dying like 5 times and giving healers headache"
*watches guide*
"I apologize to any healer in advance, I don't have the braincells to remember all of this"
Very well done and concise guide, top!
Hey Mizz this is Ace. You are amazing!! Your guides are amazing!! See you in stream!!
This isn't a raid. This is a highly choreographed dance performance.
you make this so easy
thank you
I really want to get into Alliance Raids but man, this is a lot to remember.
I just noticed this but whose that damn guy with the marker who moved right at the edge of the healer while the healer is casting? 9:36 😝
holy mother of god this look insane! Can't wait lol.
Jumping in now. I am not ready. Ty for making it a little less scary. I main healer but I think imma go DPS first go for this one lol
Watching this for my first time run thru;
"Oh dear god, none of this is sticking .-.;;;"
*paniks in tank*
I just watched the whole video. Now I'm going to queue up and kiss my ass goodbye. Banzai.
I’ve done this raid maybe five times and have always gotten alliance c I guess because I don’t recognize any of those other attacks in the hobbes
fight
even after watching this video, i died 7 times to the last boss.
it looks busy but not crazy on the video, but it was a nightmare in actuality
Finally got to this raid after starting FF14 in summer. Coming from someone who loves NieR, this looks so damn good.
i did this with a few people in my fc to help one of them get a first clear...
on the third boss one of them was running around trying to kill us with the tankbuster
Ah gotta love Fc friends xD
@@darkdevilkitten234 ikrr XD
2:05 wow, i don't think I've ever seen this mechanic go off
Did this one so much for a glamour that i know every mechanic by heart now LMAO
I really love your guides 🥺💗
*spawns into the raid*
Hi team! first time, did watch a video though so I should know what to do!
*proceeds to die at least 20 times per boss phase*
AIGH!!!! That's a lot to keep in mind! There's no way I'm ready for- (queues as healer) -this!!!
So if you can believe it, I used to play FFXIV to de-stress...
This is literally everything I hate doing this game lol
i'm going to study this the next few days while I play through Shadowbringer lol
The confidence is what got me honestly but I’m curious
What happened? This is the first time I saw something like this and I don’t know where to start looking for it.
Anyways, great transition and great final results 💪🏽
Hobbes? Engels? Marx? What is this, intro to philosophy?
Nier: Automata has a lot of philosophical themes, there are also Sartre and de Beauvoir that I can remember
@@YuenQestir And Pascal!
I dont think Ive ever survived the ring laser box drop overlap in the hobbes fight. Always whole party wipe ;(
what skill did she use to nullify the tether damage? can dark knight do this?
Sees video length: "Oh nice, it's only 11:43 seconds long, shouldn't be too difficult". Turns down video speed so brain doesn't melt from information overload, ends up watching 30 minute video twice to try committing boss mechanics to memory, gives up and queues for Sastasha.
I got my duty pop the literal second I finished this guide. I got the rite of passage it seems..
How do you hold it center/dodge systematic airstrike as a tank/melee? I cant do it without coming out with a ton of vulns almost dying? :(
+1 for everyone who's sad, that 9S is the endboss ;(
Centrifugal spin is the only vuln stack I took over the first 3 bosses, and that's just because I didn't have a helpful little voice in my ear warning me about it
After 9:09 I am like WHAT?!?!?! Because I thought that the last boss was the final one.
For that first boss I don't think I've ever even seen the ring attack never mind the part after.
