Jo kabhi nahin jaati , woh hai jaati. I was a staunch opposer of reservation system myself as i was never told that ppl were big n small as per their castes but while witnessing few incidents and reading history , i no more oppose reservation. A person's remarkable line i remember "Government can take reservation out anytime when the newspaper's matrimonial ads stop asking particular caste's bride and grooms." The thing is people don't know and don't want to know about evolution , the great migration , the archeological fossils and anything that is against their religion bcoz as per them their religion is all true and all other stuff is shit. I think beef , no beef is not an issue, it's just ideological obstacles to keep people apart from each other. Else jiski beef hai usko pura haq hai ki wo use puje ya bahar nikaal de , ya kha jaye. Who cares.. :-)

+izhar khan In early days Jaati meant what work/art a person know..... there were no professional ITI colleges that would teach the kids other than their own parents .. thats why the work or labor was divided among the society on the basis of family tree..... Nowadays, if one son of a family becomes army officer by joining NDA he is a Kshatriya, no matter born in any cast, his brother if he does any business he is a Vaishya, if does agriculture or is a painter, sculptor, blacksmith, goldsmith etc... he is shudra.... if he becomes a teacher, scientist, doctor he becomes a brahmin..... its the lust for money and affection for their children that the parents dont want their children to do the jobs that are thought small...... for that they even propagate corruption, supress other peoples from doing their jobs......for this reservation for economically backward peoples is necessary (but not based on surnames)

+izhar khan With due respect.....caste in the case of marriage means, 'customs, language, and tradition'. It is easier to get along with those with similar background. For elders and young ones to understand each other. For the same reason you may not want to marry a muslim from another culture. Next, as for caste, even within muslims you will find divisions of not marrying different surnames and certainly between shia and sunni and ahemdias....so may be you understand. Not wanting to insult ...just a decent debate. and to be honest have watched on a bit of the film and will do so later, when time allows.

Absolutely informative documentary movie. I didn't understand why the ministry of information and broadcasting, headed by Arun Jaitley, refused to grant clearance of the film. I feel, the only reason to play the communal politics about the beef ban issue, and to hide the truth. But I think they won't be able escape from the truth and reality by condemning the film.
A mass movement has already started and we all should join this.
    Superb initiative by TISS, MUMBAI.

Congrats guys, You nailed it!! Hope our society behaves as a civilized one and stop being in the medieval times. All religious traditions dates thousands of years and doesn't match to the current evolutionary standards. Our sociopolitical leaders focuses on our illiterate majority as vote banks and takes advantage of their communal sentiments by talking loud about such issues while keeping silent about the real problems of society such as poverty, lack of infrastructure, corruption etc.. We need a cultural revolution soon. Better before this 1.25billion is forced back to stone ages. Once again a hearty applause to all behind this video for being responsible citizens of a country with a huge potential.

When people discuss about hindu/nonhindu issues in india they seem to forget that West Bengal and all the north eastern states are also part of india. In these states it is common, even for brahmins, to have goat or chicken. In fact offering goat (and eat it as prasad) is an essential part of many rituals. And fish will be on everyday menu of people from all the caste and religion. So statements like "All hindus hate all type of meat" or "Upper castes use vegetarianism for discrimination" is not only wrong it is very very derogatory to the people from these states where some sanity is still left.

It is a reality and truth that cow is also an animal like others. If you look in the past, you will find that our ancestors , irrespective of any caste and religion, human has been depending on animals. Even today, world over, animals have a big part of economy. It is one's thinking choice what food, he likes and what not.

    • @lheartbroke
      @lheartbroke 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +Krishna Kant Whats your point?
      1. Do you normally take permission from others before eating any food?
      2. There is "NO" one group in the world. Respect is reciprocal. And lot's of Hindu's eat beef and more oppose banning it?
      3. Meat eating Hindu's in North East & South India, are they not Hindu's??? I'm from Kerala and almost all Hindu's there eat beef, even the Brahmins. In my house, we had lots of cows, goats, pigs, chicken, rabbits etc. and most keralites had some of these in their house up until 20 years ago. Nobody in Kerala worships house hold animals as their Gods and we consider most North India customs as purely hilarious and idiotic.
      4. India "IS NOT" some "North Indian States". If "North India" doesn't respect other States customs & practices, then do not wonder why other people hate you and might even consider braking up from this so called "North" India.

The makers of the film may have seen the cows, calves, bulls in pictures only..... they may not have played with calves(may be only with genetically modified dogs)... In villages they still worship them as lakshmi(it provides them livelihood)....cow dung has medicinal property, if floor is washed using them its microorganisms enhances our immune system.... before the beef eating curture came to india , the dead animals were food to vultures and dogs and foxes nearby villages. It would sound like joke that meat eaters are responsible for the extinction of the scavangers like vultures..... the music added in the video clearly indicates the state of mind of western culture influenced egoistic person.... If someone tolerates your meat eating in front of him, please respect them .... and try to control your lust for blood(whether cow or buffaloes), when your protein deficiency can be treated with other richer cultivable plant sources.....

    • @vaneshwarsahu
      @vaneshwarsahu 9 ปีที่แล้ว

+Devayani Tirthali ... may be a well 'educated' person who usually believe in the teachings like Vasco da Gama discovered India.... Indian subcontinent are east, arab is middle east..... centre is europe..... please stop looking through their eye... The place where I belong is in central India and I have never seen mutton market alongside with the regular markets, unless there is a particular community living around in large numbers which started it in local level. It is may be due to the television propaganda like "sunday ho ya monday roj khao ande" and "the protein myth by allopathy doctors" and government subsidies to goat , fish and hen farms that they diverted to the egg/chicken eating habit. Usually in India, the poor castes that do not have agriculture they switched to easy way of killing the locally found animals like teetar, bater, squirrel, rats for food. Some begun to keep hens and goats that feed on anything , but still do not kill cows and ox. it is the technological development that made the jobless ox an easy reason to kill.....moreover the eating habits also depend on the availability, such as people near sea use to eat fish along with cereal, tribals in forests collect fruits, honey, roots and hunt in forest....cold european countries and arabs eat meat as their main meal because of harsh environment for agriculture ..... we learnt to grow fruits, vegetables, cereals, pulses etc.. because we know we can live without meat but we cannot live without these things...... If you know sanskrit, try to read the Indian religious books with word to word meaning... I do not know which interpretation or translation of VED you are talking about because I see many misinterpretation.... our culture teaches सर्वे भवन्तु सुखिनः .....and it not only mean human but each living creature.... now you will ask why you kill trees and plants for food? .... our culture teaches one more thing ॐ ईशा वास्यमिदँ सर्वं यत्किञ्च जगत्यां जगत् । तेन त्यक्तेन भुञ्जीथा मा गृधः कस्यस्विद्धनम् ।।
'The eternal power(God) exists in all beings, whatsoever in the world,,, whatever they release or leave or abandon, enjoy(take) it but do not forcefully take what is worthful to them' ........ eg. fruits that trees can't eat and may drop to ground some day, roots after the plants dried, cereals when crops dried, milk from the cow after the calves fed upon it( not talking about dairy farms that treat them as machines) .......... and the offering that you are referring is the offering of young calf(live not cooked), that is still in practice in villages at the time of rituals to the brahmins who took it and look after them( because until the west propagated paper money system was not there, gold and cows were called laxmi/dhan)

I really appreciate the efforts you guys put to make this. I respect everyone's right to eat whatever pleases them. But before giving my 100% support, I just want to put my point.
In Vedic religion, cow has been worshiped as a mother and it has been always a crime to kill her. It may sound illogical, but we have several other illogical rules in other religions too. Christian believes that only Christianity is the way to heaven, so does Islam believes and other religions. People believe in the story of Adam and Eve (Adam and Hawwa in the case of Islam). Islam does not allow you to sleep pointing your legs towards west.
Still we respect every religion and every faith because we are so called “Secular”.
And by the same logic of secularism, I ask people to respect the faith of Hindu religion and respect the cow. Does it sound weird??? It definitely would be because Hindu religion is not so hard against blasphemy or hubris.
But friends if you really want to enjoy your freedom then why don’t you organise an event to make a painting of Mohammad Shahab? Lets do it.
The day you guys make an effort for this kind of event would be the day of true freedom and true secularism

There are several flaws in the understanding the scriptures
What is ideal situation of society recommended in the scriptures is different from what is in practice in the society now... This video is a good critical analysis of what is in practice. But at the same time, this video may lead people to misunderstand what is mentioned in the scriptures.... I shall give short as well as wrong answers
    Answer summary:
    1. Do Vedic scriptures allow meat eating? - yes, but it is a concession and not the recommendation Vegetarianism is their recommendation, there are many verses that I shall give it in a separate comment.. eg. doctor to diabetic patient: medicines and sugar-less diet are the recommendation, sweet once a week is a concession. When patient misrepresents concession to be recommendation, the doctor rejects the concession entirely to prevent such future abuse.
    2. actually there are no such incidents in vedic times or in scriptures about burning, killing, discrimination by birth... The whole understanding how the society was classified by the scriptures is largely different from what is in practice now. There were 4 classification of social body according to quality and work and not by birth...1.Brahmana (teachers, spiritual masters) 2.Kshatriyas ( admins , fighters) 3.vaisyas(traders,mercantile men, farmers) 4.sudras (laborers)... there are ample examples in scriptures where people who were born of one caste were recognized of another caste because of their quality and work( ex: viswamitra, parasurama, etc)... This is a natural classification that exists even in communist, atheistic orgz or even in MNCs, factories... everywhere this organization exists... because this is a natural organization of social structure... however due to time and influence of Kali, people distorted it. Because of dwindling education of the scriptures and caste conscious brahmanas, the system collapsed to a discriminatory system. for more you can visit www.thespiritualscientist.com/2012/06/caste-system-spiritual-equality-amidst-material-diversity/
    3. Error in understanding human evolution - Dr.Avatthi Ramiah from TISS says that people started selecting meat over a period of time.... But Evolution is a theory under crisis for a long time and the crisis is increasing from the scientific community... “We are skeptical of claims for the ability of random mutation and natural selection to account for the complexity of life. Careful examination of the evidence for Darwinian theory should be encouraged.” - 5000 PhDs have signed against evolution - www.discovery.org/scripts/viewDB/filesDB-download.php?command=download&id=660

WHETHER YOU USE THE WORD "CONCESSION" OR ANY OTHER WORD OR PHRASE, LIKE FOR EXAMPLE "LEAST ACCEPTABLE YET ALLOWED ACT"....... IT IS STILL ALLOWED!! DOESN'T MEAN THAT IT IS A SIN/ILLEGAL IN THE SANAATAN DHARM.

Yeah it is right that eating beef is culture in some societies of both the Hindu and the Muslims. It is also true that organisms on the earth who cant speak or debate and cant be part of politics are killed and eaten.
What if this is applied to to humans on those who are politically weak or physically weak then it is wrong. Is it wrong to debate rationally whether flesh of any animal should be eaten or not.
I think this video is not rational and animals point of view are totally ignored. There should also be a debate for animal rights. This shows Hippocratic behavior of Indian intellectual.

If u cut a plant in front of other will it feel that as much as hen. We should try to make less pain.Even human should try to eat only fruits that are dropped by plants and eating already died animals this can be achievable only by limiting their population..By the way its very ideal situation that cant be achieved but can be tried and debated. This is how society evolves...

  • @manthanarr

I am completely in favor of meat eaters who say the statement "When its udders were squeezed and milked you do not feel pain......" to the non-meat eaters. However, on the contrary, I am completely amazed after watching this film, no where have they mentioned about impact of eating beef to the environment. It has already been proven that eating beef is at least 10 times harmful to the planet than eating any other food. The country where population control is already a big issue how can mother GOD breath properly when her children consumes food that is not sustainable for the future of this planet. In fact reliance on all animals products (milk, leather....) should be minimized in order to achieve natural balance.

Poor Documentation..i was not expecting such poor coverage by educated students of TISS..what social study are they doing in TISS...I think they are unaware of social ethos of India..i am amazed that why the popular culture has only to be tolerant..if you open the history books you will find cases of extreme intolerance here..i think beef ban has been discussed at length for decades..time is ripe to implement it across India..

+Varun Chandolia Youre wrong. Muslims wont get offended by others taking pork or cooking it. We will not eat pork for our religious reasons, but we wont stop anyone from eating it. Is it the same case with beef now in india, Brother? :)

So we have real and non real muslims??? Bhai, aisa kuch nahi hota? Or kya ho rha hai india me ? Kisi sehansheel cheez ka it a bhi pariksha mat lo ki ek din vo burst ho jae ? Aap jo dekh rahe hai wo sab boomrang effect hai, and i am sure you will not accept the atrocites in places which i mentioned ( kashmir and places where muslims population is in majority ) . Tell me a country where islamic nation is there and other religion are also growing ? India is secular and will be secular as far hindus are in majority once islam comes we will be islamic nation and nothing more. No harsh feeling but history shows us. Sorry if i have hurt you

As long as people kill for food, it should not be an issue. Be it pig, cow, goat or even humans, as long it is for appeasing ones tongue & filling ones tummy, Let's not judge!!!

one more biased film supporting violence and cruelty on animals. the evolved have compassion and kindness towards all living beings. while the ignorant see other beings as nothing more than meat. the message - jis gai ka doodh peekar bade hue, usi ko kaat kar kha lo! nothing is more important than eating meat. hahaha!

It's not about animal cruelty, it's about human rights. You can't deny anyone what they want to eat. On the whole, we could try vegetarianism to save animals but this film is about oppression by upper castes and denial of basic human rights to the minorities.

Dr Avatthi Ramaiah, when he says all Hindus eat meat. He is an ignorant liar. He says vedas says of meat eating. Again it shows he had not read vedas himself, he took the line of Dr Zakir Naik.
Any way this video propagates meat eating. Banning beef is healthy. When I was in schools in 70s in Kerala, the Hindus of that time had meat once or twice in a year like during some festival or some special guest coming home. Muslim Christians used to eat more meat and the hospitals are crowded with Muslim Christians. Recently the trend changed and more hindus eat beef and other meat and more visits to hospitals. It is good that the govt banned beef, it may keep the Hindu population healthy.
