I think that just because one person doesn't want to come in the summer, they should not give anyone else grief for them wanting to get things done. What works for one does not always work for someone else. As teachers, we should stop giving people grief for working.

Great positive comments from everyone. I taught for 46 years and always spent time in the summer working in my classroom. There is a certain catharsis in physically preparing every year. Truthfully, I really miss the time I spent getting my clasrrom ready. It was always great to be able to anticipate the new year. Good luck and enjoy.

Please do what you want to on your time off. The only caution I would give you is that if you get hurt, workers comp will likely deny any claim you make.

I love that you are taking time to do just a few hours here & there, getting just one area at a time done. I prefer to do things this way so I don’t get overwhelmed and burned out.

I always go into my classroom to set up as soon as I can. My work environment effects my mental well being. I also enjoy setting up the space for a new school year.

I would bug my custodian to clean my room as soon as they could so I could get in there to set up and organize. I loved it and helped with my sanity.

I like getting in the classroom as early as possible because it is so time consuming to really set everything up the way you want to and to truly organize. I’m starting the school year in a new classroom as well so I totally get it!

Feels great, I'm sure. After 20 years, moving to another school, by choice, can't wait to get into my pod.

Love this! I love thinking through and setting up my class too. Makes for less stress to have time to be ready for our students. Last year i was moved, not by choice, to another grade and classroom 3 weeks before classes begun! Of course i was there, on my own time, making sure to have time to move and set up! This year im in the same space and grade so im glad to have some peaceful set up time. Can't wait for the next vlog!😊

    Dear Charlotte
I want to make a positive comment! The fact that you choose and clean and prepare your classroom during the holidays tells me only one thing and that is that you are a teacher with a heart for the students. Where I live and went to school, we always spent the last week cleaning and throwing away and washing and moving both students and teachers together if we knew we were going to change classrooms after the summer holidays and spent the last week in the new classroom. Lots of hugs and wishes for a good summer to you, Scott and Cash

I agree....when there are no kids there and there is no like time you need to get done by...being in the class and setting up is fun. like classrooms are fun! lmaoooo it's when all the expectations and kids start falling into place. that's what's hard.
and I agree. the idea of going into an empty classroom in august scares me.

100% agree. Its so satisfying to get things organized and set up at my own pace.

I like spending the time early so that I don’t have to do it later. I’d prefer the week before school to be the week of not doing anything at all.

I like coming in over the summer to get things done. If I don't come in I'll just dwell on it and not enjoy my last few weeks of summer

Wythe Blue is a muted green similar to the circut… I’ve painted two classrooms that color and my sister painted her doctor’s office that color too. She gets so many compliments on it from patients!
