That's the only les paul where I find each mic position sounds great. This penguin sounds like a Gibson, but with this gretsch extra clarity and so... beautiful cleans (which Gibson have not, or Just for blues and jazz...). This guitar is a Gibson like with more versatility. Thanks to the BT65 !! The duo jet in comparison is a lot more crisp and twangy. I was desperately looking for a balanced Les Paul with beautiful clean sound and was even thinking of having it built by my luthier. But I think I found it.
Both are great, really ! If you want more grain and chimey to your sound, the duo jet is the way to go ! Like Jesus Culture sound... But if you want versatility, punch and warmth... the penguin will be better. But yes, the sound of the powertrons is more distinctive....
@@misa_villaif you want something in the middle, you can buy the duo jet and add EQ and effects to modelise your sound, with Helix or Fractal for exemple. It's probably the best compromise. If you have just one or even 2 guitars, it is best to choose the most versatile model possible. On the other hand, if you can afford to have several, I advise you to always give priority to guitars that have character! And apart from these considerations, it also depends on what you are used to playing.... If you only play praise such as Hillsong, the question is quickly resolved, just as if you only play than Jesus Culture. But if you play a bit of all styles, you have to look for versatility if you don't want to play 36 guitars.
Killer playing man. Jeesh. And tone!

Sounds wonderful !
Sounds great!!
Did you get the tuning stability sorted? Sure hope this isn’t too big an issue for a guitar this pricey!
Would you say this guitar still has the classic “chimney gretsch” sound? And is it worth the money in your opinion?
Not as chimey as the filtertrons but the BT65 pick ups are a lot hotter.
@@markybOii2 I’m looking for a sound right in the middle of that. Med output and med chime. Any tips?
@@misa_villanaybe look at a duo jet with dynasonics.
