I meet Jan's cousin today. Best day I've had in a long time. He played drums in the 80s so he knew all the hair bands too. Got lots of good dirt. I told him to make sure his cousin knew she was my idol. That the entire group was my idol. When he said his cousin played in viven I could tell he didn't think I would know them. Boy was he wrong. Viven meant the world to so many young girls who wanted to rock. They started a revolution in the music industry. Whereas the runaways might have come first and a couple solo acts like Lita Ford or Joan jett. But it was viven that showed the world that girls/womem can rock just as hard as the men could.
These ladies have no clue how many lives they changed. I wasn't musically inclined but I used their example to crush it several other male dominated industries. Their punk rock attitudes and 80s hardcore rock helped break a lot of glass ceilings. I hope you women know how much you meant to an entire generation and beyond. Even my son and his friends prefer the 80s to the crap they call music today.
You are true women leaders. You are what we need to show these young girls they don't have to beg or legislate their way to tht top... you earn it and then you take it! And damn whoever doesn't like it.

      No they don’t! And I’m up there…1965.
I just grew up in a neighborhood that had older siblings and were into music. I gravitated to that. I was listening to Zeppelin, Tull and Bad Company in 1974. Then i meet a neighbor that got me into so much s$&t…. Emile. Will never forget him. He took me to my first concert Pat Travers opening for Rainbow (Difficult to Cure Tour).

OR the bands lived in Nashville & moved to LA...only to die there. I lived in Nashville all through this era & knew so many bands that split to LA to try & make it big.
The 80's were a blast! Music was about having FUN, celebrating music & life & rockin out. Live concerns will never be the same as the 80's.

This song came out when I was about 12 years old, and I loved it. I remember one day in middle school we had to run around the track in gym class, and this was one of the songs they played over the loudspeaker. That was the most fun I ever had in a gym class! As a girl growing up in the ‘80s, it was inspiring to see Vixen and other women in heavy metal like Lita Ford who were strong and powerful yet also beautiful and feminine. Not only were they amazing musicians, but they also had the most incredible hair-it was a work of art itself!

Lauren Dion amen to that! I was just a kid in the 80's but I'm stuck on the music and haven't liked much of anything since then. I keep coming back to the good stuff like this. seriously feel like I got ripped off generationally, over and over. I'd rather be a child of the 40's, 50's, 60's, 70's, but those that were adolescents or above in the 80s really had it made, what a great time. I had the 90s....blah. Nirvana, lame. Tell me something good that happened between 90 and 99. Yeah, the only thing I can cite is losing my virginity, the rest is crap.

I have a 15 year old niece and 16 year old nephew who show no interest in any of that. My nephew doesn't even want to learn to drive because he can just Uber anywhere he wants to go and neither of them show interest in going out and dating. This just floors me as well as their parents who also are from our generation. By the time we were 12 or 13 that's all we could think about.

doug w I went from liken Partridge Family songs to Rolling Stones, Led Zepplin, Allman Brothers, Alice Cooper, I nicknamed Mick Jagger ( A Rooster on Acid ) because of his energy on stage. I had a friend in High School that was devastated when Lynyrd Skynyrd plane crashed.

God this brings back memories. I grew up with hair bands and metal…played drums since I was 13 and taught myself guitar..several bands that went nowhere, yet still these girls had all the props, loads of talent…and such fun music
