Audrey 2 stealing the gun and continuing the musical number while taking potshots at Seymour’s general direction feels less like an attempt at killing him and more like he’s toying with him before killing him and I love it.
I believe they had to film Audrey 2 in a slower speed, and when other actors had lines with Audrey 2 on screen they had to lip sync at a slower speed and then they sped everything up in post and added in audio for the characters lines.

@@kryptonitespider-bitedynam7305 I agree! I saw the broadway show via this platform and I was shocked but it was fitting in a way. That said I hated seeing Seymour and Audrey being eaten, like what was the point of us spending all this time with them just for them to get eaten?? Although to keep true to the original I would have rather have the ending where Audrey II was defeated but it was too late, the other plants made it into every American household and there was nothing Seymour could do. I feel he should still be punished but he should live with the consequences instead of being killed by them, solely because of Audrey. That woman deserves the world and Seymour is her world
Doubt it would have done any good, remember this scene is just before the Original Ending, everything after the shop collapses was changed, so Seymour wouldn't have been able to kill Audrey II with the gun anyway.
Levi Stubbs had a great baritone voice. No wonder he was the lead singer of the Four Tops. Sad when he was about to die. He was trying to sing and he couldn't. I cried.
“Keep The Thing - - keep The It - - keep The Creature, they don’t mean sh!t” Audrey Two should be considered one of the most dangerous movie villains of all time.
If you ask me, Frank Oz did the right thing in changing the ending of the movie. Because when he showed the original ending to a test audience, it didn't give a positive reaction to the test audience. It's like they say: "give your audience what they want."
Look, now I’ve had many villains that I absolutely loved, but this one has an unfathomable amount of SASS. Who knew a space plant would have so much personality 😂
Bargain with the plant, become a half plant immortal pet and basically become his silver surfer, finding planets to kill. Sure you betrayed all of humanity and caused mass extinction but you'd be alive for years to come and be seeing all the universe. (Edit) Also, am I the only one who thinks this would be an awesome boss fight in a video game?
Actually this ISN'T the original. The original featured a dead Audrey (I), a dead Seaymour, and a planet earth overrun buy Audrey IIs. This ending was altered due to negative responses from the audience. Even the"true" original had the plant win in the end... (but at least, it featured one of the first roles of Jack Nicholson)...
Benjamin Schäfer-Schmidt in the jack Nicholson version Seymour won because he went inside the plant with a knife and stabbed it, thats why the flowers drooped over at the end.
Absolutely love this old classic as well! Fun fact: There are two versions of this same movie. One version has the humans lose to the plants, and you get to watch as they take over Earth. You can see this on any old VCR of the film. The newer DVD's depict the humans winning. Later after release, they thought that letting the plants take over was a bit too grim for the masses to watch, so they changed it in later copies. Personally, I thought it was very comedic that the humans lost, fit the movie well, and a breath of fresh air when the protagonist doesnt always win. My condolences to your uncle, it sounds like you two had something special ❤
I saw the play at a local theater years ago with my grandparents and my mom as a preteen, and a few of the plants wisecracks shockingly amused my grandma and mom. Soon thereafter, I saw the movie and can say both are pretty good. I like the theatrical ending better than the director's cut, although I wish " don't feed the plants " and the final epilogue would've been added as a disc feature. Then of course, there's this song and the intro where stems burst thru the pot and then it just EXPLODES!!! I always found the effects in certain movies part of a draw, and to a degree that hasn't changed, happy viewing!

Audrey II was a growing concern. When the worker fell, it was a plant. His life went to pot. Getting eaten by Audrey II really bites. The little plants are blooming irritating. The studio took special effects to new heights. The big plant had a smashing success with the room.
"Keep the Thing, keep the IT, keep the creature they don't mean shit!" It's kind of funny, because I'm pretty sure that the Thing and IT would be more than a match for Audrey II.
"The Thing from Another World" was also a really lame version of the story we know from back in then. Funnily enough it took Carpenter's remake to actually get a lot of the original story elements from "Who Goes There" back.
Funny how you guys are debating which 'IT' he is referring to when shortly after he says 'the creature' which could literally refer to anything, ofc we assume the creature from the black lagoon but the same element of subjectivity stands :P
The voice actor of Audrey is simply incredible, if they did remake this the only one I can think of who could do Audrey justice is Screamin Jay Hawkins, RIP. That would have been phenomenal
Putting the line "I got a killer voice...nature calls. You get the point, I'm gonna bust yo balls!" Is an amazing addition to such an already memorable song
Seymour literally had balls of steel trying to go up against Audrey. This was further proved when she pinned his balls to the wall at Mach speed and he had zero reaction 😱
I saw "Little Shop of Horrors" off-Broadway production with my mom for my birthday this past October (I'm a huge fan of the actor who was playing Seymour at the time) and the ending was one of the major things about the show that stayed with me. I'm glad this movie offered a different ending, but at the same time still allowed the creepy ambiguity to be kept, even when it ended on a seemingly-happier note. And this song - it's not in the musical, but it's really good! Personally, it's my favorite of the songs this movie has. I wasn't a fan of all the song's renditions this movie had, but I liked this one quite a bit. It shows perfectly how Audrey II is the one in control for most of the number!

The Little Shop Of Horrors is my favorite movie and musical of all time. My mom saw it while she was pregnant with me back in ‘90 and she said I went crazy inside her feeling the vibrations of the music, so I guess I even loved it pre-birth too lol
You know you're one of the best and baddest musical villains when you can diss some of the biggest and baddest horror movie villains... "-You can keep The Thing, keep the IT, keep the creature- THEY DON'T MEAN SHIT! -"
such a cold line by a musical villain, and I am all here for it! Audrey II is truly the baddest plant!
my man dissed the thing! damn!
My favorite part of this song is when he mentions the past horror figures. The Creature of Black Lagoon, Pennywise, and The Thing.
According to TVTropes, Twoey was referring to a different It.
Wait when did he mention them?

I Hate that ending. Even if it is the original. I don't like seeing my man Rick Moranis being killed.
@@kryptonitespider-bitedynam7305 I can agree, Rick played Seymour pretty well and the way the movie is cut makes him more innocent than in the actual play

Yeah in one of the deleted scenes it shows Seymour shooting the plant but the bullets just ricochet off the plant.

Actually this is the original. There are 2 endings. I found it the other day...... seeing the other ending ruined my childhood hahahahah
ITS "MY" ORIGINAL then shhees :)
Benjamin Schäfer-Schmidt in the jack Nicholson version Seymour won because he went inside the plant with a knife and stabbed it, thats why the flowers drooped over at the end.
The tiny Audreys are hilarious and amazing
Classic! I grew up watching this as a kid. Memories. R.I.P to my uncle Kenny use to sings this part everytime. Miss you man! 🕊
Let’s be honest, this is so good that it could’ve been in the original musical. It’s one of the most fun villain songs of all time
Funny how even in the jaws of death how Seymour is still self-conscious after getting his pants pulled down
Levi Stubbs from the legendary Four Tops is Audrey 2's voice. He did not receive the accolades he deserved because he KILLED this performance!
No one else could ever perform this song the way he did. It made it so intimidating yet catchy at the same time.
I saw the play at a local theater years ago with my grandparents and my mom as a
preteen, and a few of the plants wisecracks shockingly amused my grandma and mom.
Soon thereafter, I saw the movie and can say both are pretty good. I like the theatrical
ending better than the director's cut, although I wish " don't feed the plants " and the
final epilogue would've been added as a disc feature.
Then of course, there's this song and the intro where stems burst thru the pot and then
it just EXPLODES!!! I always found the effects in certain movies part of a draw, and to a
degree that hasn't changed, happy viewing!

I've been obsessed with this song for multiple days and it's still stuck in my head. That is the beautiful magic of Levi Stubbs.
"Keep the Thing, keep the IT, keep the creature they don't mean shit!"
It's kind of funny, because I'm pretty sure that the Thing and IT would be more than a match for Audrey II.
The IT that it references is the IT from "IT Came from Outer Space".
"The Thing from Another World" was also a really lame version of the story we know from back in then. Funnily enough it took Carpenter's remake to actually get a lot of the original story elements from "Who Goes There" back.
Funny how you guys are debating which 'IT' he is referring to when shortly after he says 'the creature' which could literally refer to anything, ofc we assume the creature from the black lagoon but the same element of subjectivity stands :P
it could also mean IT the terror from beyond space from 1958, the film heavily that influenced alien...its pretty good you should check it out :)
And what's the creature like the gil-man from black lagoon
The voice actor of Audrey is simply incredible, if they did remake this the only one I can think of who could do Audrey justice is Screamin Jay Hawkins, RIP. That would have been phenomenal
Putting the line "I got a killer voice...nature calls. You get the point, I'm gonna bust yo balls!" Is an amazing addition to such an already memorable song
I like how it’s implied that he never once considered that the giant man-eating plant was an alien the whole time

I still can't tell it's a puppet, though I know it is. I remember watching this back in 2012 on VHS, such a good time. I was so scared yet intrested.
Seymour literally had balls of steel trying to go up against Audrey. This was further proved when she pinned his balls to the wall at Mach speed and he had zero reaction 😱
Maybe they were pulverized beyond feeling
I love this song. It's a classic!
