One thing I love about Oogie Boogie Man is that he really isn't a villain, he didn't have any evil scheme of destroying Christmas or take over the Halloween Town, he didn't even ordered the kidnapping of Santa, he's just an asshole who loves torture his victim

Oogie Boogie didn't ask for him to be Kidnapped as there is a so called "Boogie list" that he gives to Lock, Shock and Barrel to Kidnap his Victims it's even mentioned when they are singing "Kidnap Sandy claws" that Jack will beat them Black and green if they loose any pieces of him. So Jack technically Kidnapped him Lock shock and Barrel just did the Dirty work.
Between 1:16 -1:20 there's three entirely different notes on "Hand", "Attention" and "Man".

What does this mean? I’m thinking of two things that explains this.
Not just the perfection of the singer’s performance, but the terrifying lighting and display of Oogie Boogie as well as the backdrop being a all gambling themed really just sets up such a fun character to watch that you wish you saw more of in the move

Its truly a challenge to design a villain for a movie where the protagonist is a long limbed skeleton. I think they nailed it.
You know a villain is good when he's only got like 5 minutes of screen time and he's one of the most memorable characters in the film.

When I worked as a photographer for Disney years ago, we had a mat for people to stand on when they got their pictures taken. But people would be anxious about standing on it for reasons. I always would say “Don’t worry. It’s not a trapdoor. You’re not going to fall into Oogie Boogie’s lair. I made sure of that.” Usually got a laugh.
One time, I had a guest say “I like Oogie Boogie!” And I said “I do too…but his lair is creepy and I don’t know about you but I don’t want to end up as an ingredient in his snake and spider stew. I was so happy when Jack got me out of there. Oogie is a fantastic singer though.”
