My A/C is still on the car but your method worked with the alternator. I had to guess the torque with an air impact but it was off , so thank you again and pleas continue to produce TH-cam videos.

    I use a threaded rod through an old spark plug as a piston stop. Or the safer bet is to feed a length of rope down into the bore with the piston at BDC and leave a tail out, then tighten the crank bolt, compressing the rope.

    This helped a lot.
    Before this I was putting a C-clamp on my cam gear with a wood shim under it to prevent it from denting the head, I did break one C-clamp doing it this way and don't recommend it.
    I did it your way only I didn't have a spare belt I used a ratchet strap. I tied it around my pulley and wrapped it around a few times and hooked the hook on the frame but it kept slipping so I just kept sticking pieces of rubber under the strap until it stopped slipping 👍.

    • @soundfxasmr
      @soundfxasmr 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jfGarage4k What he means is you lose torque with added extensions. So you might be getting the 74 ft lbs "click" out of the torque wrench, but in truth some of that torque is being lost at the extensions. You could always double check your torque by removing said extensions and getting under the vehicle to get a better angle/space to actually torque it down.
      I'm looking at alternatives on here because my vehicle calls for a strap wrench for this procedure and I don't have one. Actually using a belt on the crank pulley and the A/C compressor didn't cross my mind, so thank you for that! Will try this out later in the morning.
