The reason why the crew acts different than in the first is because these are scoundrels. In the first one, they were a real crew of shipmates. And Ripley acting different different is not because of the direction, it’s because she is a clone and not the real Ripley.
Exactly. Every time They mentioned the acting from Ripley, i was screaming at the screen “She is a Half Alien Half Ripley Clone. WTH would she not be different? “
Not just a clone but also a clone that got spliced with the xenomorph DNA. It makes complete sense that she's acting a little bit less human, same reason the baby at the end acts quite a bit different to the other xenomorphs.

The scene where she says to Call, "i can hear her behind my head" its a reference to that. Or how, she knew that the queen was in pain... Even the aliens are not the same, considered that they dont know if Ripley belongs to them, or if she is human. Thats why they kinda never tried to kill her, except the facehuggers, which they move by instint only. The queen itself is different too... the novel shows how ripley memories got mixed... she even remember newt's name.
The acid that eats through metal is the aliens blood, the acid that the alien spat in the guys face is weaker because it is combined with the slime from the aliens gut, which also explains why the aliens had to bleed one of their own to get acid strong enough to aid their escape.

I'm a Resurrection defender. I thought this movie was fun. It totally fits into the feel of the mid to late 90s. The under water scene is one of my favorite parts. And it's Chucky in an Aliens movie. It's an overall win.

This movie always felt like a sci-fi script that had been floating around hollywood that someone read one day and tweeked it to be part of the Alien series.
The Aliens had metallic teeth in the original. Alien 3 also had metallic teeth, but they didn't use real metal, just paint, so it ended up being much less noticeable.
If you go back and look closely, the xenomorph teeth always looked like crystal or metal, depending on the movie. The idea behind the clone having a queen inside her is that the xenomorph causes its host to GROW an embryo by hacking their genetic code like a virus. Her blood samples were already contaminated by the xenomorph recoding. This is also why they had so much trouble growing a viable clone that wasn't a deformed mixture of both.
These guys are under the mistaken impression that the army or the “company” wanted to make hybrid aliens or something. The only hybrid is Ripley and by extension, the alien queen. And that’s only because it was the best the scientists and doctors could do after so many failed attempts at separating the alien DNA from Ripley’s via her blood sample from the prison planet in Alien 3. They just wanted the alien species for experimentation. Then, they paid the crew of the “Betty” to kidnap some human colonists to be used as alien hosts. The Ripley hybrid was an unexpected byproduct.

its funny how sometimes things need to be full explain to this guys, otherwise they dont understand. The girl was crying... was she afraid of the water? No... she was having a moment of grieve, because her boyfriend got killed moments before... the foot, half naked massage wasnt clear enough? Why they stop to help this guy, just shoot him and move on.... well, this people didnt saw what this aliens are or how come out. Until Ripley's explanation. but still, its only normal to try to help a person. Its call been human The first movie, the crew were friendly to each other. The betty crew, they have issues with each other. Its show by Johner knive scene, or wanting to leave Vriess behind. Even christie says that he doesnt trust nobody. As for Call, she was new, only Sabra had connection with Elgyn. I understand why, its difficult to connect with this characters, we didnt had any bonding time, like the first movie show to us. As for Ripley, several times, they show us how different she is, or connect to the aliens. She mention this to Call "they didnt take it all" or knowing it was a queen, or even feeling her pain. Plus, when the aliens escape, Ripley laughs... knowing what was happening. The mix dna, makes her like more them... Ripley doesnt care about nobody... not even she, knows exactly what she is... Ripley is not human, or alien... its something in the middle. Obvious she is different character.
Honestly i have seen these two react to a lot of movies and completely miss most points and plotlines of movies due to chatting.. they're more interested in guessing actors and pointing out cgi/sfx issues.

My second favorite movie in the franchise, love the grimy and creative feel of this movie, a great cast, Sigourney Weaver gives an interesting performance, and even find a hybrid interesting… I know this movies in for everyone, but I really dig it
I found the same with their F13 reactions, when they watched Part 2, which is regarded as one of the best, they spent the entire reaction just shitting on it and came away hating it. It was such a bummer to watch. Even in their reactions of the later movies they kept bringing up how bad Part 2 was and that’s just mind boggling to me.
I thought their enjoyment clearly varied throughout. They enjoyed parts of it, and the last part of the movie definitely snapped them out of any disengagement.
Mentions left out of this version that are in the special edition: - Ripley has autism due to the cloning process (simplified explanation) - Newt is brought up several times (during the picture recognition process when a girl is shown - signifying a memory bleeding through, and a conversation between Call and Ripley) - Pirate crew character development and jokes - Rules set for the pirate crew once on board the large ship (these can be seen as critical, yet aren't in the theatrical version) - Weyland is mentioned to have been bought out by another company and thus, no longer exists - The weapons the pirates carry are "disposables", thus won't be detected by the larger ships machines. - Call has further character development by explaining in the chapell why she chose to undergo her mission to kill Ripley. - Ripley has further character development, explaining that she only ever dreams of aliens, and thus tries to suppress these dreams, plus more. - At the end of the movie, they land on Earth. Differences between the movies, is about 13 minutes with some scenes changed, altered, removed, or added. Special edition is 7 mins 19 seconds longer.
Alien 3 is brooding and introspective. It's depressing and a mood. Alien 4 is stylistic (for the time) not thought provoking and all style and not much else. Thematically, Alien 3 is better as it's a conclusion to the story. Alien 4 was unique, but didn't really build on the Ripley arc that much.
I kinda had a feeling that they would react to the film like that tbh, especially after seeing how they reacted to Alien 3. The first four Alien films have different tones & genres. The next few are more similar, (AvP & AvPR/Prometheus & Covenant) so I think they'll enjoy them a bit more. I do hope they're gonna watch the Predator films next before watching the AvP films. I do think if they reacted like that to this, I can't wait to see how they're gonna react to The Predator (2018), now that's gonna be interesting lol 😂

A lot of people who watch this do not understand why she has the memories of her previous self. It's because of the xenomorph which passes down through its DNA. Everything it needs to know
She seemed tired in the reaction, with lack of sleep and according to her comments she didn't feel very well, so it would have been better to wait 1 or 2 days to do the reaction, because to do a good reaction you have to be well rested and with energy, otherwise any movie will seem bad when you are tired, even if you play Gone with the Wind.
Not saying this movie is amazing. But when you're tired and not feeling well, a B-Movie like this might seem even worse. I think it would have benefit the experience/reaction to wait a couple days befoee watching it. Oh well, its done. Just feels a little unfair to react to a movie when you're not at 💯 I guarantee had she watched this in a better mental/physical state, she would have liked it a little more.

Honestly, despite a very small amount of jump scares(mild at best), there isn’t a lot of suspense at all. This sequel is mostly filled with mildly disturbing scenes and premises, a few action sequences, a splash of gore, and a pinch of tension: the film is more sci-fi than horror or action.
I usually just skip Alien 3 and go straight to this one. It's a good movie that brings a great twist on the usual narrative. Not every choice works but it sure is entertaining.
Honestly, I really enjoyed this movie as a kid. My headcanon that while they cloned Ripley and the Xeno Queen, they didn't take into account that Ripley MAY have been pregnant during 3, so the Queen developed a womb to give birth to the hybrid, and that's the reason it see's Ripley as it's real mother.
I couldnt get through your Alien3 review because my ears started to bleed from all the whining and complaining that woman was doing. It was awful. She just kept going on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on..
@@andrewcharles4349 I have to agree. The whole CGI argument is really just a waste of time because Alien 3 was released 32 years ago. I saw that in theaters when I was like 12 years old. And I might have noticed moments where the Xenomorph looked odd, but it didn’t distract from the film. And I’ve seen this movie fairly recently to me. I I did not like this movie when I first saw it. But over some time and breathing room, it’s OK. I just think that it’s really strange to harp on something like CGI not looking realistic in 1992. It probably looked realistic for many people back then.
The scariest thing about the Ripleymorphs in this film is their _intelligence._ In the A C Crispin novelisation it's noted that the Aliens can understand friggin WRITING! In multiple languages!

Which is why Ron's reaction was so excessive, she'd failed to make it during rehersals but managed it first time when cameras rolling. Ron nearly ruined the shot but managed to contain his reaction a bit.

8:00 Michael Wincott I always remember as the bad guy from Along Came a Spider, which was a good movie with Morgan Freeman. And he was also in 24 Live Another Day.
The only 2 bits lore from this movie I actually consider canon to the franchise are that the Chestbursters can be surgically removed from the hosts without killing them, and that the Xenomorphs inherit memories generationally, which explains why they are so smart.
Some notable differences between the Xenomorph species and the Ripleymorphs are enhanced intelligence and the ability to read and understand multiple languages due to cloning after horizontal gene transfer had occurred, as well as altered blood acidity (Xeno blood is weaker while Ripley 8's blood is highly caustic now whereas normal Human blood isn't acidic at all.), strategy, possibly even empathy to an extent. There aren't your daddy's Xenomorphs...

They gave the Alien/human hybrid combo male/female genitalia, and it was very distracting on screen, so they did their best to edit out the shots with it
The majority of the plot holes about the aliens being weaker... Is that they aren't full xenomorphs. Ripley is part alien, they're more human than hatched from humans. Weaker acid, etc.

Fun fact, as the human-alien hybrid was being sucked out, the noises it was making were meant to sound like a mixture of "Mother" and "It hurts" as it screams. Can't blame them for laughing over it though, scene is freaking hilarious.

This one isn’t for everyone. I liked it, but not necessarily as a sequel to Alien3. Jean-Pierre Jeunet and his (former) partner Marc Caro are best doing their own films. I HIGHLY recommend their films Delicatessen and City of Lost Children. Also, Jeunet directed Amelie, which is just a delightful movie. Alien Ressurection was a perfect example of the phrase, “A camel is a horse designed by a committee”. Too many chefs in the kitchen ruined what could have been a very good one-off Alien film.
I actually like this movie. I also like Ripley's stoic personality. It's on purpose, she's not the same person and she feels emotions but not as those who are completely human. This is more of a fun movie but I wouldn't watch it expecting something great.
I would never call this a "good" movie, but it's such a guilty pleasure for me. Lots of cool shots and concepts and just more Alien lore to chew on. Twisted and dark in an almost monsterous way, on its own. Glad you both watched it.
I completely understand what ya’ll were saying about killing the guy they found that had an alien growing in his chest but I think they were going for the same thing that zombie movies tend to do when someone gets bit but hasn’t turned yet. It can’t be easy to kill someone even when they have a death sentence hanging over their heads. You want to hope they might be saved or at the very least let them live what little life they have left.
true, also in the zombie case, it actually could end up, that you'd off someone, that could show some immunity. i mean i wouldn't bank on it, but if you keep a close eye on the bitten, they're 1. more firepower, and 2. like said, could be the golden egg you need for a cure.

There were some very cool aspects to this movie and overall I enjoyed it. The only thing was that human/alien hybrid was truly DISTURBING.
The reason why the female, can't never remember her name, was crying because the commander that died was her companion, her boyfriend. She couldn't get over it

If you pay attention to ripley movements, she moves like a xenomorph, wich make sense since she is a hybrid.
the 200 years would not matter, they did not recover the body, the had the blood somehow from the third movie. they used that blood to "clone" her.

My second favorite movie in the franchise, love the grimy and creative feel of this movie, a great cast, Sigourney Weaver gives an interesting performance, and even find a hybrid interesting… I know this movies in for everyone, but I really dig it

Man, when you guys start hating, nothing can snap you out of it. Such a drag.
I found the same with their F13 reactions, when they watched Part 2, which is regarded as one of the best, they spent the entire reaction just shitting on it and came away hating it. It was such a bummer to watch. Even in their reactions of the later movies they kept bringing up how bad Part 2 was and that’s just mind boggling to me.
I thought their enjoyment clearly varied throughout. They enjoyed parts of it, and the last part of the movie definitely snapped them out of any disengagement.
Mentions left out of this version that are in the special edition:
- Ripley has autism due to the cloning process (simplified explanation)
- Newt is brought up several times (during the picture recognition process when a girl is shown - signifying a memory bleeding through, and a conversation between Call and Ripley)
- Pirate crew character development and jokes
- Rules set for the pirate crew once on board the large ship (these can be seen as critical, yet aren't in the theatrical version)
- Weyland is mentioned to have been bought out by another company and thus, no longer exists
- The weapons the pirates carry are "disposables", thus won't be detected by the larger ships machines.

This is a more fun watch than 3 but none of them are any good.
Alien 3 very underrated.
Alien 3 is brooding and introspective. It's depressing and a mood. Alien 4 is stylistic (for the time) not thought provoking and all style and not much else. Thematically, Alien 3 is better as it's a conclusion to the story. Alien 4 was unique, but didn't really build on the Ripley arc that much.

I kinda had a feeling that they would react to the film like that tbh, especially after seeing how they reacted to Alien 3. The first four Alien films have different tones & genres. The next few are more similar, (AvP & AvPR/Prometheus & Covenant) so I think they'll enjoy them a bit more. I do hope they're gonna watch the Predator films next before watching the AvP films.
I do think if they reacted like that to this, I can't wait to see how they're gonna react to The Predator (2018), now that's gonna be interesting lol 😂

Once again talking about "CGI in the last one"? Guys, educate yourself a little. With exception of one, two seconds long shot, there was no CGI used in Alien3. Too early.

A lot of people who watch this do not understand why she has the memories of her previous self. It's because of the xenomorph which passes down through its DNA. Everything it needs to know
She seemed tired in the reaction, with lack of sleep and according to her comments she didn't feel very well, so it would have been better to wait 1 or 2 days to do the reaction, because to do a good reaction you have to be well rested and with energy, otherwise any movie will seem bad when you are tired, even if you play Gone with the Wind.
Not saying this movie is amazing. But when you're tired and not feeling well, a B-Movie like this might seem even worse. I think it would have benefit the experience/reaction to wait a couple days befoee watching it. Oh well, its done. Just feels a little unfair to react to a movie when you're not at 💯

Honestly, despite a very small amount of jump scares(mild at best), there isn’t a lot of suspense at all. This sequel is mostly filled with mildly disturbing scenes and premises, a few action sequences, a splash of gore, and a pinch of tension: the film is more sci-fi than horror or action.

I usually just skip Alien 3 and go straight to this one. It's a good movie that brings a great twist on the usual narrative. Not every choice works but it sure is entertaining.
You may notice the slight resemblance between the Betty crew in this movie and the crew from Firefly.
Honestly, I really enjoyed this movie as a kid.
My headcanon that while they cloned Ripley and the Xeno Queen, they didn't take into account that Ripley MAY have been pregnant during 3, so the Queen developed a womb to give birth to the hybrid, and that's the reason it see's Ripley as it's real mother.
I couldnt get through your Alien3 review because my ears started to bleed from all the whining and complaining that woman was doing. It was awful. She just kept going on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on..
@@andrewcharles4349 I have to agree. The whole CGI argument is really just a waste of time because Alien 3 was released 32 years ago. I saw that in theaters when I was like 12 years old. And I might have noticed moments where the Xenomorph looked odd, but it didn’t distract from the film. And I’ve seen this movie fairly recently to me. I I did not like this movie when I first saw it. But over some time and breathing room, it’s OK. I just think that it’s really strange to harp on something like CGI not looking realistic in 1992. It probably looked realistic for many people back then.

The scariest thing about the Ripleymorphs in this film is their _intelligence._ In the A C Crispin novelisation it's noted that the Aliens can understand friggin WRITING! In multiple languages!

Which is why Ron's reaction was so excessive, she'd failed to make it during rehersals but managed it first time when cameras rolling. Ron nearly ruined the shot but managed to contain his reaction a bit.
This movie is practically a mash-up of multiple Dark Horse Aliens comics. It’s the closest thing to a Dark Horse adaptation.
Sigourney also won. She threw the ball over her shoulder randomly, and got the net first take. The whole cast and crew were floored!

The only 2 bits lore from this movie I actually consider canon to the franchise are that the Chestbursters can be surgically removed from the hosts without killing them, and that the Xenomorphs inherit memories generationally, which explains why they are so smart.
Yeah the comics pretty much confirm both of these.
Some notable differences between the Xenomorph species and the Ripleymorphs are enhanced intelligence and the ability to read and understand multiple languages due to cloning after horizontal gene transfer had occurred, as well as altered blood acidity (Xeno blood is weaker while Ripley 8's blood is highly caustic now whereas normal Human blood isn't acidic at all.), strategy, possibly even empathy to an extent. There aren't your daddy's Xenomorphs...
You guys are clearly hating on this movie just to hate, you didn't do any of this during the second alien movie which starts very similar.

The majority of the plot holes about the aliens being weaker... Is that they aren't full xenomorphs. Ripley is part alien, they're more human than hatched from humans. Weaker acid, etc.

Fun fact, as the human-alien hybrid was being sucked out, the noises it was making were meant to sound like a mixture of "Mother" and "It hurts" as it screams. Can't blame them for laughing over it though, scene is freaking hilarious.

This one isn’t for everyone. I liked it, but not necessarily as a sequel to Alien3. Jean-Pierre Jeunet and his (former) partner Marc Caro are best doing their own films. I HIGHLY recommend their films Delicatessen and City of Lost Children. Also, Jeunet directed Amelie, which is just a delightful movie. Alien Ressurection was a perfect example of the phrase, “A camel is a horse designed by a committee”. Too many chefs in the kitchen ruined what could have been a very good one-off Alien film.

I actually like this movie. I also like Ripley's stoic personality. It's on purpose, she's not the same person and she feels emotions but not as those who are completely human. This is more of a fun movie but I wouldn't watch it expecting something great.
I would never call this a "good" movie, but it's such a guilty pleasure for me. Lots of cool shots and concepts and just more Alien lore to chew on. Twisted and dark in an almost monsterous way, on its own. Glad you both watched it.

I completely understand what ya’ll were saying about killing the guy they found that had an alien growing in his chest but I think they were going for the same thing that zombie movies tend to do when someone gets bit but hasn’t turned yet. It can’t be easy to kill someone even when they have a death sentence hanging over their heads. You want to hope they might be saved or at the very least let them live what little life they have left.
