    Axel, if you put a mountain dew bottle 10 feet in front of the tarp, he wouldn't end up too far to the left side. All you have to do is back around with the front trailer axle. I would do that myself sometimes , just so I would know for sure where the trailer is in relationship to the hole.
    He did a great job, and number of backs don't count anymore, but the number of hits do! So many people worry about how long/how many backs, hey backs are free, hitting someone is what costs.

I got up at 3am to fuel and leave just to realize this guy is either sleeping or ditched his truck. Pilot people couldn’t get anyone to answer the door & other drivers said the truck was parked there for hours. This was June 2022. I admire TMCs tarping but lmfao that was the worst thing I’ve ever seen at a truck stop in 3 years otr. (Edit i complained to tmc sending photos of it and nobody responded) lol

    Making my eyes bleed. 11 years ago I worked for TMC for over a year. Learned a couple of things about them. Pay sucks, 65mph is in human and I never wanted to see another tarp in my life. Also spend hours and hours waiting to load steel. I switched to reffers. No touch, good pay and very little waiting. Also, TMC like Swift, Warner, Cr England and a few others is mostly new drivers. Ya gotta earn your stripes somewhere though. But I would recommend a dry van or refer company. Tarping in high winds or the dead of winter is a killer.

    what is the reason for dumping the air while backing up ?

    • @DRTY3RD
      @DRTY3RD 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Sharper turning radius--or backing radius, lol. Spread axle trailers don't turn or corner near as true as closed tandems due to the friction on that front axle; the pivot point is actually on the rear axle. Dumping the air on the rear axle puts the pivot point on the front axle to help shorten the radius--but if you're not careful you can cut a corner too sharp.
      I ran with TMC for four years; haven't had a dump axle valve since, but when I did have one it did save my behind a few times.

      Yeah, I've never understood that. We got 2 free pull ups, and 2 free GOAL. Like if i have to get out 50 times and pull up 50 times to keep me from ruining somebodies day, ima do it.

      DMVs aren't creating a culture of safety. If they want to focus on safety, unlimited GOALs. They should allow as many pull ups in a ratio to trailer size. 53 ft trailer / half or more. 1 GOAL and 1 Pull Up just add unnecessary stress and are not realistic. I spent the last 4 weeks doing backing manuevers from 8AM until 6PM, an extra pull up or two prevents stress, increased accuracy/confidence and decreased cones hit. Better to measure 10 times and cut once...

    I am scared to back into spaces with trucks on both sides. I over steer mostly and don't practice enough. Last month I was alone at fed ex in bloomington. It took me 45 min. But I did it and didn't wreck anyone's sh*t. Its embarrassing but I won't give up. Even with you dinosaur drivers being mean. 🙄
