I was backing at a pilot with my 48 ft flatbed just got into flatbedding and let me tell you the transition from dryvan to flatbed is way different in backing, it took me like 5 minutes to back into a big spot, those spread axles just so wide LOL
I always wondered why these flatbedders struggle when backing into a spot. Then I tried to back a spread axle with 52k lbs of lumber and saw why. Those spread axles ain't no joke
Backing up a spread axle trailer is a whole different experience than a normal axle trailer. Ran flatbed for 12yrs then when I went to dry van, it was a bitch to back 😆
Same process I do with a f350 and a 22ft snowmobile trailer or something/ sometimes wide loads while driving but I do the same because I'm most comfortable doing it the same way, because I don't use the mirrors to backup. I just go with feel and what I can see out the drivers side. And if we know the difference between the drivers side and the vehicle to are left and are comfortable with the width of the trailer then we know well clear on the passenger side and know when we need to peak at the passenger mirror
