    Seat tube size isn't antiquated, just got mine last week. No problems finding a killer KS dropper. Works flawless at $130. Thanks man, love my motobacon. This is my 2nd one, got a hardtail as well.

    Thank you very much for the in-depth review. I've been scouring the internet looking for something, anything about this bike. I'm certainly going to purchase one now, just a matter of which version. I like that you went with the XT components, even though it might not be necessary. I also appreciate the tire advice and the stem advice. I also would like to be more upright and would like more responsive steering. This will be my first mountain bike since I was a teenager with my department store bike. I'm prepared to be blown away. Thanks again!

      Would you mind providing your height and the size that you ordered? That would certainly help myself and others trying to size this thing. Thank you.

      Shawn Buckley Thank you, I'm glad you found the video helpful. I am just about 5'11" and I bought the 17 inch frame, it fits me perfectly. Thanks again, have a great day!

    sweet ride man,i have a 2004 trek 3700,yes you read that right 2004,she's close to 20 years old and rides like new,the only issues i had was the chain broke while away from home,yes the dreaded walk home ha ha! was in a local shop and the guy gave me a master link and some chain for free,after that got fixed i immediately replaced the front/rear brakes because the stock ones? garbage! you could have a low quality bike and get alot of years out of it,if you take care of it

    Great videos. I am stuck between ordering the sport and the comp in as I am not likely to see any trails right away. I will be using mainly for fitness riding around town. I do have a few questions about your upgrades. What saddle did you use? What brand is that frt fender? Lastly to confirm BD calls that color burnt orange correct?

    • @OCDMountainBiking
      @OCDMountainBiking  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! If you don't plan on doing much off road with the bike, I'd definitely go with the sport model. Saddles are a very individual specific part, what works for one might not work for another. I tried out three different saddles before choosing this one. It is a Avenir 200 Series Mountain, I believe I purchased it at Performance Bikes. The fender I found on Amazon, it's called MudFender. Yes, the color is called burnt orange on Bike Direct's website. Thanks for you questions and thanks for watching my channel!

    Kirk, a question about that rear suspension design. What do you think about it? Did you try the other Moto design where the air shock is vertical and not horizontal like yours? I like your ride and am considering buying one. Sub'd, liked.

    • @OCDMountainBiking
      @OCDMountainBiking  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've never had a full suspension before, but I really like it. Once you get it dialed in for you weight and riding style it really handles well! Thanks for subscribing. Hopefully I'll get some new videos out soon!

    Hey buddy. I like your channel and your videos. I just subscribed and watched most of your videos and some multiple times lol. I just bought this bike a few days ago and waiting on it to be delivered. I got the one with the 2x11 drivetrain. I was wondering if you have the Trail, Comp, or the Pro? Also any thoughts on this vs. the newer 2017 FANTOM 29 FS? whats the total weight with your upgrades? Finally, is it easy to put the bike together out of the box if you are mechanically inclined and know your way around a bike or should I pay to get it done professionally? any thoughts will be greatly appreciated. LMK and happy riding.

    • @OCDMountainBiking
      @OCDMountainBiking  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! I appreciate you checking out my videos and subscribing. I have the Comp version. I really don't know much about the 2017 Fantom 29 FS, sorry that I can't really comment on that bike. As my bike sits now, it weighs just over 33lbs, I certainly wouldn't consider this a light bike by any means. :-P I am mechanically inclined and have always worked on my own bikes. It isn't that difficult to assemble the bike However, I would highly recommend regreasing the wheel axle bearings front and rear, grease the headset and also the rear sus pivot bearings. They weren't greased very well when I got the bike. Also you'll probably want to make sure all of the bolts are torqued to spec. If you aren't comfortable with performing these task, I would recommend taking it to a bike shop and having the professionals do it for you. Thank you for the questions, and have fun with your new bike!

      Thanks for the reply and appreciate the advice. I put the bike together my self and it was pretty simple. I do like to do all the mike maintenance my self and likes to tinker with bikes. I did not re-grease the wheel axel because I have no grease except auto stuff. Do you recommend a specific grease? LMK. Thanks BTW, I ended up getting the Fanthom DS 4BY4 PRO instead.

      You are welcome, it's my pleasure to help out a fellow Mountain Biker! Nice, how are you liking the Fantom ds 4X4 pro so far? As far as grease you can never go wrong with Phil Wood waterproof grease! Hope this helps! Thanks for the questions.

    Thanks for the info! I'm going to be getting a dropper post for mine, will probably go with the ks eten also. Just wondering, did you have any issues with how far you could get the seat post into the frame? I had issues with my stock list and had to cut it down. I just want to make sure my new post will go in far enough before I purchase. Thanks again!

    I noticed that by BD's website, the medium and small frames get 27.5. Do you feel it would work putting 27.5 wheels on the large frame....i know you mentioned the SC Superlight, but I would really like a Bantam clone. What do you think?

    do you think this bike could fit a 2.8 tire?

    • @OCDMountainBiking
      @OCDMountainBiking  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I want to say yes. It would fit inside the rear triangle, but would be a tighter fit between the front forks. The inner rim width would dictate the tire profile and overall tire width. Hope this helps, thanks for the question!

    Anyone who thinks a mid-level (or higher) Motobecane is the equivalent of a Walmart bike has never ridden either. Yes, they low-end offerings but that's part of how they keep the prices low on their higher end stuff.

      Back in the old days 70/80s they used to make a great road bike: The Grand Record. It came with Reynolds 531 and Campy Record deraillures. It was a sweet bike.
