      Been doing these 2 weeks now.. best trap exercise ever. My traps are getting much thicker , and it’s filling in all around the collar bone too. No more 35 40 kilo shrugs with no results, those 2 exercises are amazing and I don’t have to go as heavy . Traps looking great especially in a T-shirt,

    I tried this first one today. Took me a while to get the form correct such that I connected with the traps, but once I did, it really burned. Excellent video!

    All of these exercises are great for traps, but at the end of the day genetics play a big part in the size of your traps, look at all of the other Pro bodybuilders and I'm pretty sure they work their traps out ,probably with the same exercises and they have noway near the size of traps Jonny has. I was a few years behind NFL player Takeo Spikes in High school and I remember his massive neck and traps were like that back in Grade school, it was something he was born with

      Yeah, just just look at kai greene. The dude is a mass monster but there are guys in 212 with more developed or even bigger traps than him. It's probably the reason why his back lat spread look weird in my opinion.

    Johnnie was the first IFBB pro I've met. He was guest posing at my training partner's show back in 07. Awesome dude! Some of the best traps of any era!!!

    Say whatever you want about Johnnie: no legs, lifts too fast, doesn't do full range, etc. but when it comes to building traps, no one -- absolutely NO ONE -- is in the slightest position to open their mouth and debate anything he says.

    First exercise might be the best trap and mid upper back exercise. I have really weak and underdeveloped rhomboids, so incorporating the row movement would be great to help get more volume.

    I'm not sure why they say not to bend the elbows but I did the upright behind the back with elbow bend and dumbbells...the stretch is insane! I actually got the idea from Mike O'Hearn using a Shrug Machine inverted for the same movement. You will not be disappointed. Love the work and tips Johnnie! Mans a legend 🔥

    Good exercise JJ...Yes, he's on roids BUT you can't get big if you just take roids. He would STILL have well developed traps if he was off roids. He ain't lazy.

    Seems like nonsense. I distinctly remember this guy stating that he hasn't hit traps in years when asked about his traps at the O. It's just genetics with him added with the fact that he had a nearly if not 800lb deadlift

    My favorite exercise is farmers walks (or rack pulls if you have the equipment), I don't feel my traps that good with shrugs.

    U have more androgen receptors the higher up u are on ur body which means doing steroids can activate the receptors and make u have bigger traps

    Damn Johnnie ..... what if I have a big ass? LOL so hard and awkward doing the second ones but I KNOW they are imperative to hit that peak. What if you lie back on a bench maybe ? Any ideas to compensate ?

      Orlando Gonzalez well see what we can do in a future video. Tough to describe via text, but just stand a little in front of a cable pulley set at the bottom with a straight bar attachment. Lean forward slightly and perform the same motion JoJ performs here

Now I can see what you are saying .... for some reason I was stuck on the double cable, attaching to a bar at each end or some stupid shit that I was thinking. Yes your talking about the straight bar attachment that is about 18 inches long typically used for tricep pushdowns or curls yeah ?

      @@muscleandstrength Ok I think I got it. Grab a straight bar attachment lowered on the cable. Grab it behind you, take two steps forward now its at full tension. Also your arms kick out to a 45 degree angle behind you. Now from there just pull up to your lower back, no need to awkwardly have to traverse around your ass ..... is that what you were thinking bro ?

    You’ll get a pump with this but that’s about it, they won’t grow with this right there.
