  • This is our third feature video, focused on the 2 days plus training we got from ‪@yachttechinc1754‬ especially James Knight and Jay Flaherty. It was intense and fun. This is just a synopsis of the whole package, it was non stop.

    I like the practical nature of your videos... not all fun, but really understanding your boat and how systems function, something seldom seen on other channels. Thanks

    Finally ! A video where not a salesman tells you how beautiful the interior woodwork is but explains a little bit about the technical problems.For example I didn't know that these boats were not designed to run the generator on passage. Big issue.! And also not to run air condition. That I know from you own boat though. Personally for me I would like to shut all the doors and windows on a long passage in the tropics and run the AC. Also just a minor little issue with the switch for the bilge pump. So much technology in these boats that can easily get overwhelming. Great Video !

    • @MVKariwaN62
      @MVKariwaN62  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the comments. The point is that you can run the generator, and the AC but you do not need to. We have done both, with and without, and it depends on the weather. We try to not run it when possible to just enjoy the fresh air.

    Is this training paid for by Nordhavn in an arrangement with Yacht Tech? Aslo, how much prior boating experience did you have prior to your N-62 purchase? Dream boat, nice boat.

    • @MVKariwaN62
      @MVKariwaN62  2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      YachtTech provide training as a service when you buy a boat through them. It didn’t cost me anything.
      This is our third boat and I have been around ships and boats for over 40 years, but many people buy a Nordhavn without having had a boat before… a bit daunting I think

      We provide 3 days training when we represent a buyer for free. If a new owner would like more time with us, we can be hired for follow on training when needed.

      It was probably just staged, we usually have radar, chart and engine room cameras on the three.

    That's the thing about about the weather it's not gonna always be Sunny and 70 so but I suggest is get yourself at xbox one and the game red dead redemption 2 and those are perfect for rainy days on a boat have an excellent day

    Seems like a lot to learn! You might be doing yourselves a favor by editing your training videos into shorter info-videos (for yourselves, not us) about specific topics, so you won't have to wade thru hours of footage later if you need to re-learn. In any case, thanks for sharing. Looking forward to watching more of your journey.

    Does James even own a yacht? I’ve never heard him mention that he does which, if true, says a lot. Owning a yacht seems like great fun until one realizes the amount of complexity.

      James is extremely experienced in all things relating to these boats!

      @@MVKariwaN62 I wasn’t really clear with my point. There is no question that James is super knowledgeable and a serious authority. I was just wondering if the reason he doesn’t (if true) own a Nordhavn is because knowing all that he does he doesn’t want to deal with the headaches of yacht ownership.

    • @MVKariwaN62

    Why do you add music when the audio is already bad 🤔🤦🏻‍♂️Would have been an interesting video, but with weird cutting and bad sound it's stressful.

    would bebetter if you would some how synchronize volume, your intro is loud and microphones not , and would be better if you would not put music in video and let people hear natural environment , other then that very nice videos, thank you

    It seems to me that is is obligatory in the USA to install as much gages, screens, computers and buttons as possible in the wheelhouse. They can all fail, what is so neccesary about all this, mostly not needed information. A ship should be reliable and all this equipment does not help achieving that.

    • @MVKariwaN62
      @MVKariwaN62  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Interesting comment. Not sure of the need to reference the USA and or the basis for this? In any event, the pilot house contains equipment and gauges referencing both ER and navigation equipment. The equipment has redundancy, in that there are multiple GPS, nav charts, auto pilots. Dual VHF would seem appropriate also. As does dual echo sounders. The engine equipment enables monitoring of the engine equipment and I don't see how that is not needed? The "ship" is reliable and if all else fails, I will hand steer and use my sextant.

    Hey Frank, I think you have some good content, but the audio level variance can be a bit off-putting. I think it is a safe assumption that the only viewers who will elect to endure it are: people who are not attune to the sound issues, people with such a love of the subject matter you are covering, and friends. I don’t know what kind of video editing software you are using, but I’ll bet it comes with an audio level indicator. When transitioning from one clip to the next it is important to keep the levels as uniformed as possible, and out of the red. Don’t try to direct the viewers volume level, everybody has their own preferences. The goal is for the end viewer to set his/her volume one time and enjoy the show. I hope I’m not coming off sounding condescending, that is not my intent. I really hope your channel matures into something really cool. I don’t know what your intended target audience is, but if you are the man I think you are, you are looking not for a niche market, but rather to get as much Mark integration is humanly possible. That is to say to get people who have never given a thought to maritime operations to become fascinated with what you are doing. I really believe you can and do it. You will just have to put up with some unsolicited advice from obnoxious pricks along the way. Get a good quality noise canceling headset and use that to QC your work along the way. I feel like you are doing your audio editing in your engine room. I feel confident that if you had an employee who turned out this level of quality you would fire them. Good luck, and I look forward to the next video.

    • @bigbadbillperry
      @bigbadbillperry 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mark integration should have been market penetration. Lol. Stupid autocorrect!!

      Bill thank you for your extensive comments. There are 10 videos and the earlier ones did have some sound issues, mainly given the original tapes that were used. We have improved quite a bit but to be frank we are retired and enjoying life and keeping it real. I dont have employees to fire and I can't fire the Admiral ... Keep watching by all means.
