I would love to hear your thoughts in a video or something on Grudem's doctrine of the Trinity. Grudem has a lot to offer to the church because of his overall faithfulness and accessibility but many have expressed sharp criticism over this doctrine of the Trinity on more nuanced and high order issues.

I was so glad to see these books because I have three of them on my shelf. The Randy Alcorn book was given me about a year and a half ago when I learned my wife was terminally ill with cancer as well as Heart and kidney failure.
You asked if we would like to add any to that list that you thought might be useful. I encountered one recently, the title is: “The Book That Made Your World: “How the Bible Created the Soul of Western Civilization.” The author is Vishal Mangalwadi. He was born and raised in India in a Hindu home. He studied philosophy in secular universities and Hindu ashrams, but makes a solid case for the Christian faith. I highly recommend it.

  • @rosemary702001

I’m a simple person. Two of my favorite books are short and easy reads but with profound concepts. The first is “A Shepherd Looks at Psalm 23” by Phillip Keller. He describes how our nature is very like a sheep and how dedicated the Good Shepherd is to His flock. The other is “A Tale of Three Kings” by Gene Edwards. He explains that sometimes the leader put over us by God is not admirable, kind or fair, but he is the one God chose and there is a reason for His choice. It’s a study of three kings, Saul, David and Absalom and how their flaws teach the people what God wants them to know. I read them both over 30 years ago. They very much hold up in today’s climate too.

Back when I went to a Christian college, when we entered one class the first thing the professor said to us, "No where in the Bible does it say we are to accept Jesus as savior." We all were thinking, "Ok, let's see you get out of this one, bucko!" Then he introduced us to "The Cost of Discipleship," by Dietrich Bonhoeffer, who, by the way, was excecuted in a Nazi prison camp. That convinced me. By the way, Bonhoeffer calls it "Costly Grace." MacArthur's "The Gospel According to Jesus" sealed it for me. A very inspirational book. We do not accept Jesus as Savior, but as LORD. Todd mentions misperceptions people have of heaven. Some say they do not want to go to heaven and spend eternity playing a harp. Even if that was all we would do in heaven, it is better than being in the "other" place. Some people joke they want to go to hell because that's where their friends will be, and they can party for eternity. Remember, the Bible says hell is a place of darkness, so you will never see your friends. It is a place of eternal loneliness. Anold saying: "When you die you either go to the Choir Place of the Fire Place.

The Pilgrim's Progress, The Pursuit of God, A Shepherd Looks At Psalm 23, The Lion, The, Witch, and the Wardrobe, The Magician's Nephew, The Cosmic Drama, and so many others have helped me along the way. The Pilgrim's Progress has to be number one though. Many times I've literally carried it with me into the pulpit to read the testimony of Hopeful because when he shares his conversion in that book to know that it was really John Bunyan sharing his own and saying how he saw "the beauty of Jesus Christ" and if he had 1,000 gallons of blood in his body in that moment he would've "spilled it all for the sake of the Lord Jesus". If that doesn't stir your heart I don't know what will. What a genuine testimony!

Imagine the chaos in a household without rules. And YHWH does not tolerate disorder, thus the LAW Is HIM setting boundaries for us to be safe in.

Pilgrims' Progress is probably one of the more favored reads I've had in recent years.
Any of C.S. Lewis' writings on Christianity and the Faith, including his most famed book "Mere Christianity".
There's a potential treasure trove of theological information and knowledge to be reaped by any Believer, all they have to do is simply seek, and they shall find.

Todd---The International Standard Bible Encyclopedia is no longer in print. I found 2 sets (used) on Amazon for OVER $700! So you might want to put an update on this video stating that. Also, the original copywrite for this set is 1995. That's a fairly old set, and there is likely more current information available now. Otherwise, great video and good recommendations. Thanks for including at least one Charismatic author in your list. (Gruden).

Todd, I want to thank you for doing a video on Catholic bibles and the history behind it. My family is Catholic and I’m Protestant. I heard snide remarks about the Protestant Bible and how they removed the books and therefore taking away Gods word. All I want is to know which one is the facts.

A new book coming out this fall called "Pray Before Reading", is a must read for anyone who has ever wondered, "what in the world is going on in the book of Revelation"? "What does 666 mean and should I be concerned"? "How do I know if I am decieved"? "What's the difference between religion and Christianity, "we"re all on the same path, right"? How can I make sure I'm not deceived, get saved, and have eternal security of my salvation"? What's the meaning and purpose of life"?
Yes thats right, it answer's all of these and more, from a Biblical perspective, with clarity, and consistency with the Bible! It's a life changing read because it gives clarity to some confusing Biblical topics by using the Bible to interpret itself. Look for it this fall from Lucid Books Publishing by Ryan Ivesdal.

I would've added John Calvin's Institutes of the Christian Religion, and said something like, it's not my problem if you know about the love that God has for you in salvation but at the very least it will be good to learn about. If you want a better understanding on prayer, the love of God or even just the doctrine of election Calvin is a must read and hey after you read him you still don't like him at the very least you tried to understand him. But a study on the attributes of God but A.W tozer is a good choice.
