The Crazy World of CEX: Episode 3- Newmarket, Doncaster & Kings Lynn

- Welcome to the crazy world of CEX! My continuing mission to visit every CEX store, in the world! From the weird to the wonderful, the big to the small I plan to visit them all. So join me for an epic adventure to visit them all all while building my dream game collection along the way!
This time we’ll be going to three different CEX stores from all over the U.K. out of the hundreds of stores, and even though they’re all part of a chain, they’re all so different, whilst finishing the episode as usual in my local CEX store of Norwich.
This time we’re off to Newmarket to a small store inside a shopping centre, it may be small, but who knows what hiding inside. Next up we head to Doncaster for a store for which I had high hopes for as I’ve heard VERY good things about this store, and trust me I wasn’t disappointed! Finally we head to what I’ve said before is my favourite CEX store in the U.K. kings Lynn so again I’m hoping for big things!
This time we find a game which I have been looking for for years and I have never NEVER seen before for the Sega Master System! Also I we find BOXED game gears games in the glass cabinet of dreams, I search for steel books in all the stores I visit as well as adding even more games to my OG Xbox collection, the first console I ever collected for hardcore and Xbox 360 hidden gems!

You and Retro Ghetto should really try and see if you could get a CeX sponsorship as I think it is mentioned more than once in every video you guys release. It could have some nice benefits to it if you could even obtain one. 😂
That would be amazing, just imagine how many games I could add to the collection then!

Im absolutely loving this series Dan!! If you're looking to visit the smallest CEX in the Country, i think the one in Hove might be up there as one of the smallest - it also normally has great stuff in the Glass Cabinet of Dreams! Also there's 3 CEX's in the Brighton/Hove area, so could definitely be worth a visit!
Sounds awesome! I’m hoping to get down that way during the summer and enjoy the beach as well haha. Very interested in finding the smallest store and hopefully this it the one!

Thanks mate! Yeah Newmarket wasn’t to bad I think I just caught it on a bad day, you can’t tell on the video but it was heaving so busy! Kings Lynn is great, not just the CEX but that street is full of awesome shops!
Was in the Norwich store last weekend and was amazed at how much stock they had! There are so many steel books too! Picked up catherine full body on the ps4, and the steelbook was in great condition. You're lucky to have such a good store so close to you. I'm stuck with thetford and Ipswich as my stores, and they don't often have great stock
Yeah Norwich is very good but I’ve also got some amazing bits from Thetford, that’s where I got my amazing copy of silent hill for the PS1.
I’ve only been to Ipswich once and I could find anything I wanted unfortunately
I work for cex the reason we don’t put our ps1 games on the shelf is because if the box gets cracked we have to replace the box and always on short supply of spares 😊

I can understand that though, it’s really hard to find spares nowadays

Hey Dan there’s 2 stores in Portsmouth that may be worth visiting! One is quite big and one is quite a small one but still found some good stuff in there! Keep it up! 😁

Some great pickups, especially Sagaia on the Master System. I really don't understand the logic of CEX trying to sell a game like Klonoa for £140 if it isn't complete, the manual would probably sell for around £50 on ebay on it's own. Surprised you didn't check out the copy of Ghost in the Shell next to it at the same time.
I was very to find Sagaia as I said I’ve never seen if since I rented it from blockbuster and so lucky to find it in such amazing condition!
I think a lot of people trade in the high value games like that and keep the manual for that very reason unfortunately. I should of really checked out a ghost in the shell but was in a rush that day lol, that is an expensive game I would like to buy as I remember playing the demo back in the day and enjoying it!
Some nice purchaeses there mate, esp Sagaia and Alice.

Noticed in the last few days PS2 games have gone up, gutted I was looking at some Wednesday looked today all gone up a couple of quid each.
Yeah I was in a CEX store Thursday and they where changing all the prices, have to be quick to get the old prices 🏃♂️

Omani on Wii is great, Okaminden on DS also a great accompaniment.

Maybe I’ll get it on Wii, what is the DS game?
Okaminden is a spin-off from Okami.
It’s in the similar style but cutdown for Nintendo DS.

Great doncaster store I went there last year shocked the ps1 games where on the shelfs lol
Yeah it caught me by surprise the first time I saw it in a store!
I guess if a store has that many PS1 games they put them out on the shelves. I know my local store never have enough to have their own section on the shelves. I would love to visit those two stores though!
Yeah it seems there’s less and less PS1 games in CEX these days, and they seem to sell fewer and fewer titles each month 😂
If you ever come to Birmingham you should visit the CEX in Coventry, it's one of the most interesting ones because it has 3 floors. It's got a pretty good selection also.
Actually have you already visited it? Just watched the intro and saw the top floor at least I thought it was.
That was the top floor in Coventry. 3 floors that must be on the biggest stores there it! I’m hoping to visit that area soon enough so I’m excited to see it!

My local cex had jurassic Park operation genesis on ps2 I was so tempted to get it but it had no manual and was scratched case was nice tho 😂
That’s a shame as that’s an awesome game! Possibly my favourite Jurassic Park game 🤔

I went to my local cex they had a cope of outrun coast2coast Stubb's the zombie and elder scrolls 3 game of the year edition for the original Xbox it would of cost me 140 pound for all three games.
They are three heavy hitters of the OG Xbox collection though
@@DanTheGamesMan they definitely are I own two of them which is Stubb's the zombie and outrun coast2coast for the original Xbox. I was surprised that someone sold them or traded them in elder scrolls 3 game of the year edition Was 30 quid. If I didn't have two of the games I would of gone silly I would of bought them. The price of outrun coast2coast has come down in price on ebay but cex sells it for 75 pound.
Did you check out any of the charity shops in Doncaster
I didn’t this time unfortunately as I was rather pressed for time as this was the same day as the Doncaster Gaming Market
Actually dan i bought dragon quest chapters of the chosen a little while back and they sent me a reprinted cover for the same price which was £50 it does happen

@@DanTheGamesMan of course i did then i got a box and manuel in a job lot on ebay for a couple quid and my girlfriend bought me the cart so i ended up with a cib game so it all worked out lol xxx

CEX is like the video games shop of ''Humans''
You have your stores that are
Upper Class.... Beautiful flooring, clean game displays, well presented staff, all the goods seem high end, great place
Middle Class.... Clean, presentable, displays could be better but it's all in order and the goods they sell are OK across the board
Lower Class.... Shop is a car boot sale of tech, staff look hungover and couldn't give a f##k, buy anything, trade anything, sell everything and ya kinda feel like you need a wash after
Then the Benefits/Gypsy Class..... Shop is a state, s##t everywhere, the staff don't want to be there, don't want you there, half the items you sure will be broken, the other half stolen..... the shop takes anything for trade including your kids and nan, and it isn't so much as you feel you need a wash when you leave, more like you need........... Jesus, or at least feel that for even being in there, you'll get arrested when you leave.
That's the one up here in Scotland, Inverness, and i moved from Brighton, and the last time i was in there was a few years ago and that was a s##tshow.

i have been to about 60 stores

I didn’t as we didn’t have time. I was gutted but I am planning a trip there soon! 👍

@@DanTheGamesMan There's also a Leigh market in a shopping centre which has a stall called Gremlins Games, they have quite cheap prices there

Maybe but I like to aim big! First the U.K. and then the world lol
Prefer the PS1 games on the shelf but I imagine so many get dropped or knocked off. Those cases are to prone to cracking and smashing.
This is what would worry me, but could be worse they could be Dreamcast cases just imagine! 💥

@@DanTheGamesMan this week I've had a realization with my collecting. Decided I'm not going to pick up everything and everything from now on just the few games I played and loved and games I really really want. Space is a premium and I've got hundreds of games I've got no real interest in it seems silly.
@@j1m909 yeah it’s a difficult one and I know your pain with space, it does become a premium! I always will be an opportunist, if I see something cool I want, I’m picking it up!
But that is a cool way to be focus on a few consoles and only add gold!
Are you saying C-E-X or C-X? If c-x, why? Is that how you locally pronounce it in your part of the country or is that just your own thing you do? Honest question, not trying to correct you or anything, just interested in dialects, accents, etc.
Better than pronouncing it as sex
I think it’s just my accent as such or rather my pronunciation. Also I think because I speak rather fast it sound alike I always miss the E lol

Kidderminster cex is the smallest one you will ever find no PS1 or og Xbox games
That’s a shame, I bet they still have a DVD section lol
