    Play to a 3 and use these from driver down to the 6. I’ll never understand why a handicap level is put on clubs. Like somehow a club that is easier to hit at your target will limit you from scoring a low. Round.

    I use the XLs and play to a 5hcp… love the light shafts for my bad back and the hybrids are nice too. Sure, there’s other great options, but coming from my AP2 Titleist irons and 818 hybrids, I’m not missing out on anything and shooting as good and better scores since the switch without the effort my Titleist required

      You are dead right. If the shoe fits wear it. Some of the best golf that I've ever played was with the Callaway GBB with light reg Graphite shaft. Always thought that the AP2s...looked great, but where very unforgiving. At the end of the day, it's a personal thing, and there are exceptions to every rule. You should give the new Cleveland Hybrid Wood a go. Tremendous club. 😊👍Mike

    I have that driver in my bag. The adjuster on the hosel changes face angle and lie angle. At 9 degrees it is 1.5 degrees flat from the standard lie angle at the 10.5 degrees setting. I am considering buying the Cleveland Halo 3+ Hy-wood as a 4-5 wood replacement ( 18 loft with a longer shaft than their 3 hybrid). I use baffler rails on my Cobra SZ 4 wood (16 loft), single length F9 3 hybrid and the concept works in poor lies. I use the 4W as a backup tee club and off near perfect lies on the fairway on par 5 holes. At my swing speed it does not get as much height as I want all that often. Hence why the Hy-wood is of interest.
    Cleveland has been making hybrid-irons for a while now ( 588 set?) as have Tour Edge and others. I bought a second hand set of the HB Launcher irons ( A flex/ graphite shafts) for my wife, but as move into my 70's I plan to use them myself. While testing them I broke 80, so I was impressed. I wish I had found Cleveland as a brand when I started golf 5 years ago. I did use the previous model Driver ( HB Launcher Turbo) with a 12 degrees fixed hosel. I found it went too high as I improved my swing ( should have bought the 10.5). I am using the CBX2 wedges too; good!
    My driver speed 90 mph on a good day, irons mid 70's. Handicap at 14 now after hip replacement ; was 11 prior. I add this information to allow qualification/ reader comparison for my comments. If you are a slicer of the ball the Halo irons will reduce it, but not 100%. I have to aim right of target to allow for the draw bias. You can shape them ( fade ) if you try. I am using two super game improvement hybrid -irons in my bag ( Tour Edge E521/ 1.5 degrees flat to avoid the draw bias) to replace my 6 & 7 iron , then cavity backed single length irons 8-GW. You don't have to buy a full set of the SGI hybrid -irons, just replace the irons you are struggling with. A golfer at my club ( handicap 4) plays the SGI 4&5 iron from Cleveland for example.

      Hi Kym, Wow that is some tremendous info that can really help . I tested the 40g stiff shaft in the 3 Hyb/wood, I was very impressed. A swing speed of 90mph is very strong for a guy in his 70's. 10.5 degs is plenty in today's drivers. I fully agree about only changing clubs that you have trouble with. When I fit people I much prefer to build sets and try and fill the gaps where we need them as opposed to just putting in 14 clubs. It's very expensive to take clubs out of your bag😉. Thanks again for your feedback it's always welcome. 👍😊Mike

      @@MeteorGolf Mike I am ABS ( almost bloody seventy). My swing speed will need work again when I get back to golf. Having clubs that suit your age/ swing speed ought to make Senior golfers still be competitive, yet so few know about hybrid -irons for example and still soldier on with clubs they bought 10-15 years ago. Having a slower swing speed means that you have to play golf differently. Few TH-camrs address this group, perhaps with the exception of Mister Short Hitter. It is an opening for someone to create video content on, " how to play like an old man". O.K. maybe Liam ( Golf Mates) and Old Man Pat are doing some stuff on course management for the canny old blokes, but equipment/ what is in the bag and why isn't being covered. BTW I love your Irish accent.

    Hello all, I'm a brand new golfer(47 y/o Leftie). It's hard to figure out what type of club sets to buy but I'm gathering that hybrids may be the best for someone like me. Do you suggest I buy this set or something more downsized. I played 20 years ago briefly so I do have some experience but not too much.

      @MeteorGolf  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I generally don't advise people to go crazy at the start. Try and pick up something decent and cheap that can get you started. It's also a good idea to get some lessons ASAP 😂😂as it's as easy to learn properly at the start. Bad habits can be a pain in the ass to get rid of. See if you really like it, get your handicap down in the low 20's. Then when you test clubs, you will feel the difference and make a better decision. Hope this is of some help, and have fun. 😊👍Mike

    Cleveland driver demos always crank the music so you don't hear the "clang" (from a Cleveland lover)
    Update, I’ve been playing the latest XL Halo Launcher irons for the past two years. Bought the Taylormade Stealth HDs and the Ping G430s. For me Cleveland’s are easier/more consistent than the Taylormade and about even with the Pings.

    I'm a 25 handicapper, got a 90mph swing speed and a nackered back, been playing for 2 years.
    I tried lots of different full cavity back irons before landing on the launcher XL halos. With the Cav backs I could only hit my 7 iron 145 yards and couldnt really hit 6 or long irons at all. But with the halos, 7 iron goes 165-175 yards, 6 iron goes 175-185, and 5 iron is just shy of 200 yards... If a full cavity back is called super game improvement, then the xl halos must be called"super duper game improvement"

    I often wonder how people like yourself make claims like this club can down to a 12 handicap then you have to move on to get you to a single digit. I wonder how a club that is designed to make it easier to hit straight can somehow stop once you get to a certain level,

    • @MeteorGolf

      It's just a general statement. I love forgiving clubs. But generally when you get better . You don't need as much forgiveness.....because you hit the ball better anyway. So then sometimes players like a club where they can work the ball a little easier. But its just a general thought. 👍😊Mike
