So I’ll say this. I have the Wilson LP 2020 irons and I love them! 34 years old with 90-100mph swing speed. I broke 90 for the first time ever with these and even shot as low as +11. I absolutely love these irons. The best part for me to is the chipping. My PW is so easy to bump and run it’s ridiculous. I just started golfing in 2020 and did a lot of research. So glad I got these and would highly recommend them!

One of my golf buddies bought this exact set a few months ago. He's struggled with iron consistency the last few years and hits it "fat" quite often. He's already dropped from a ~25 handicap to 18 in just a few months with these irons. He regularly shoots in the 80s now and it's really good to see him enjoy the game more. These aren't going to completely fix a bad swing but they do make the miss hits less detrimental for sure.

    • @jeremyg9240
      @jeremyg9240 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

@@TWTexasA1 He's about 45. But he didn't start golfing till his late 30s. He doesn't have the prettiest swing lol but it works for him. These wilson clubs are actually great clubs especially for higher handicaps that want more control and consistency. They aren't gonna be great for single digit handicap guys. But the average guy that shoots 90+ every round will definitely see the benefits.

@@TWTexasA1 I'm 71 and in early spring of 2021 purchased a set of graphite regular shafted Cleveland Turbo Launcher Hybrid irons, because I had been losing distance and not able to hit the high ball. This set did help with both, I'm hitting the ball higher and longer and getting away with what would be a fat shot with regular irons. In my case newer tech has helped and I'm glad I made the buy. PS these Wilson Irons might be just a good for me as the Cleveland hybrid irons I purchased turned out to be.

I've been playing Cleveland launcher clubs for around 3 years and love them, however, I got measured up for a set of Wilson Launch pad 2 and have been gaming them around 2 months now and these clubs are on another level. Sure you still need a lob wedge in the bag especially for tight lies but anyone out there that are looking at these irons you will not regret it. Thanks again James for another fab video. I'm 54 and got back into golf after a 20-year hiatus (was never that good and used trash clubs before lol). So I went with these and they are no magic bullet, but they certainly are forgiving and light. I'm quite a bit better than before, but I'm not sure how much of it is due to these clubs, and how much is due to having access to a lot more "free golf lessons" on youtube that has helped my mechanics. I suspect it's a lot of both.
I also use the LP2 driver and hybrids (3-4-5). You could switch clubs down the road, but you could also play with these for the long haul too.

First time out with the clubs, nothing longer than a 5 iron (24 degrees?). Pretty good performance, especially when you consider that you really didn't have a good feel for how far the individual clubs fly, and you put yourself at a disadvantage on the longer holes.

I'm glad you're doing reviews of SGI clubs and from Wilson too! Too many TH-cam golfers only do big brands and players irons that only fit a small percentage of golfers. One question: everyone says GI and SGI clubs are not workable. I don't understand the physics of those statements. Drawing or fading the ball is a result of swing path vs club face direction. Flighting the ball lower or higher results from shaft lean and ball position (forward or backward in the stance). None of that has anything to do with sole or face size. You proved you could shape the ball (both on purpose and by accident). So are all those who claim GI and SGI clubs are not workable just ignorantly regurgitating hype or am I not understanding what they mean by workable? The only physics I can really see is that the CG of a hybrid is further back and the CG of an iron is further forward. In drivers and fairway woods that affects spin and forgiveness. Shouldn't physics and math apply equally the same to hybrid/irons? Please explain the "not workable" perception.

Working at a golf course I had recommending super expensive clubs to so many new players, ladies, seniors, or even long time golfers I know just don't work on their game. These might very well become my recommendation for these categories. Well, as long as boss doesn't find out I'm not pushing more expensive names. You and Chris must use the same starter set offered by COSTCO, i.e. Callaway Edge, Slazenger, or Cobra boxed set, that You have already tested. Yes. I liked the long video with more golf. When you play Chris on your channel and then his channel, maybe make it 4 holes on each. Even the Wilson’s are too much. The MacGregor’s are about half the price but I’m basically a beginner again so I don’t think there would be much difference for a golfer like me. My 1st game back I shot 120 😬 but that came down a fair bit the more I played best was 108 with my old clubs but then I bought a similar style of irons 2nd hand Rife RX 4’s very reasonably priced I am now around the 100 mark shooting 98 twice & a 99 they suit my slow swing and as you say are very forgiving and easy to hit
Consequently I am am now enjoying getting out there so much more 😊I do need a buggy to get round but the physio side of it is good for me

I bought these last year. They have made a giant difference. I shot par for the first time in my life 2x last year.

One of your best videos! Nice to see you using clubs that older high handicappers like myself find interesting.

Enjoyed your video. Enjoyed your commentary while testing these clubs because I have thought about trying them out. 9 hole testing is about right to catch all the good and bad about some of these clubs. Good job.

Fun vid. Enjoyed watching it. You actually worked the ball with these shovels and your shots onto the greens didn't run rampant due to lack of spin. This was a lesson for all recreational golfers to not use clubs that are above their pay grade. Go out and have fun by using user friendly clubs. Simple

I like your long and short videos. I'm new to golf (high 90s) so i appreciate all the insight and instruction along with seeing it in action on the course.

I watched the entire thing! I'm very excited about my own full set of Callaway Rogue OS Lite Clubs. I am 71, had both knees replaced last year and got back into golf
after many years not playing. I am taking lessons with a pro and attended a Callaway Demo day. I had never hit I hybrid until the club fitter had me try a 4 Hybrid. The very first shot was like magic! My new set contains hybrids 4, 5, 6 and 7. This will make the game easier and more fun to play. At my age, I simply want to go out and Hage fun and would totally recommend hybrids.

As a Senior Golfer, I would bet a lot of Seniors would find these clubs quite useful! My Nike Slingshot irons are pretty close to hybrids. Even though I am not playing right now, bad lower back injury plus, my doctors don't want me doing outdoor activities when it's over 85°f...I would love to try them! I know my Nike's have helped me hit that ball as far as I was with my Lynx Black Cats...so I really haven't had to change my iron selection process.
I know I would like to see you play 9 holes with blades from the 1960's or 70's with a Persimmon driver and fairway woods. You can use your wedges and putter!
The first time I broke par was with my 1966 Wilson Staff Fluid Feel irons and my McGregor Eye-O-Matic Persimmon Driver, 2 & 4 wood. I carried my 5 iron - PW and SW with a Acushnet Bullseye Blade putter... early 1970's vintage! ( I still use it! )

I'm not a big fan of long videos, I would normally skip through, but I had a particular interest in this one as an older friend of mine is looking to buy some of these. I'll share the video with him. Thanks James
