I liked Yamcha too but this was toriyamas way of introducing more threatening characters Tien breaking Yamaha’s knee Tien losing to piccolo and his servant drum Piccolo losing to Raditz without s suicide move Piccolo also getting killed by Nappa Who was surpassed by Vegeta when he killed Nappa Who Frieza killed, he’s Vegeta got impaled by Frieza Who future trunks killed with ease, mécha Frieza that is Then the androids beat future trunks Who cell defeats and absorbs the androids It stopped after the Buu Saga but it’s literally characters one upping each other with the character on the tail end becoming irrelevant immediately after getting one upped, after Tien lost to piccolo he wasn’t as plot important anymore and same with everyone who isn’t a saiyan and piccolo up to the android saga
+Derrick Still Z fighters are strong bro. Don't forget what DBZ is. They have low power levels and raise them very high when they attack or defend. Goku can get ko with basic mma as majin vegeta demonstrated when off guard, just as a bullet can annoy Beerus off guard. Yamcha even made Beerus stumble by patting his back off guard. Yamcha is crazy fast and his attacks are relentless. If any Z fight makes a mistake Yamcha does have to power to ko them.
***** look at the power gap between tien and cell. Krillin even beat on Nappa before using his disk. In DBZ skill and timing topples power levels sometimes. Yamcha's level is above 50,000. Half his power was enough to kick and temprarily ko a Cell Jr so it's safe to assume he is close to Frieza's level. Base Goku was scanned by Beerus and Beerus said base Goku couldn't have possibly beaten Frieza. Yamcha is very capable of catching the A class fighters on the Z team off guard.
***** I'll put it simply. Yamcha hits hard. Z fighters can be caught slipping. Yamcha can land a hit of anyone not focusing their ki in the right spot.
***** Yamcha and Krillin were very capable too. They could win against them they'll just have to really let out. Yamcha's spirit ball is tough to keep up with hits hard! Krillin's strategy is super sly!
when put in perspective. He's not really a loser. Naturally, he fell short in power being overshadowed by an alien race. But being in what top 5 for strongest humans in the world is a feat to be proud of. He got jipped in dbz. But in dragonball he was a totally different character. And, he was actually a wealth of knowledge when it came to other fighters techniques. I wish they could have had a bigger role for all of the humans in the series.

Yamcha challengs Vegeta to fight(Yamcha trained in Hyperbolic chamber and Gravity chamber). Yamcha have improved wolf fang attack, tiger paw and etc(animals name haha) and those energy balls he controls with fingers but now knows control 10 of them. At end Vegeta is pushed to use blue form, because yamcha have pattern with those enegry balls that stops enemy and vegeta have glimp of ultra instict finds a way to escape that chekmate position. He then beat yamcha. At first fight is equal, yamcha have his moments, vegeta his. At end yamcha loose but deserves the respect and place in a team. Why Vegeta? Not because of Bulma or simmilar bullshit, he wanna respect from the gang and to "learn" about pride. Toriyama destroyed his charter, this thing would bring him back in game. From cool guy to mocking, now back to cool guy.

Toriyama actually paired Bulma with Vegeta because he hoped it would turn OFF the fans. He wanted to end the series but apparently his editor and/or fans wanted him to keep going. So it wasn't so much a low blow, as an escape plan that backfired.
Yamcha's best look is simply perfect, the Lone Wolf, the guy who trained with Wolves and abandoned the miserable and boring city life, he was just a bandit and then became a master of the arts!
If bulma died from here, trunks wouldn't exist, nor would the gotenks that stalled buu, future trunks wouldn't be there and the whole earth is dead by then. So for once Yamcha did do something pretty important yet we all forget this scene, we gotta think big, what if at this point bulma gets hit by that truck?

mhm and honestly the fights in the original in the 22nd and 23rd were much more better written then the ones in dbz and dbs. those mainly consist of punches and blasts and new transformation. the og had martial arts, well drawn out fights, and didn’t need transformations to keep it interesting. not saying the ones in dbz or dbs arr bad but the og was definitely better with the cast/characters and fights
For as much as I love trunks and think Vegeta and Bulma make a cute couple, I think it was a bit of a waste to end Bulma and Yamcha's relationship. Thiose two just have a very good chemistry in character.
