Thematically, the Fallen Arm is my favorite location in the game. It's a scar from a near-endless war, but it's also living proof that peace is possible. It's below the Bionis and Mechonis and the larger conflict between them, far removed from most of the bloodshed. The arm is mechanical, but natural and synthetic life can BOTH flourish there. Hell, Seven themself is a living representation of the pain that the people of both titans share. Absolutely fantastic stuff.

I love this place's themes so much. Its hopeful seeing Bionis and Mechonis life coexisting, and it's also where nearly everyone in the main cast gets development. This area got me so invested, and it's where Xenoblade truly became something special.

It’s my favorite because it’s a beach and there aren’t any in X2, and we get the aegis sea in X3 but this is a proper beach with an outlook on a wide and vast ocean

@@themidnighttrain3045 That ocean always gave me the thought that the world of Bionis and Mechonis is always more than just the two titans. It's true boundaries are only limited to the imagination of us players. Just like it was to Arglas in game.

This is my favorite area theme in this game. not my favorite theme in the game, but area theme. I first got into xenoblade from watching chuggaaconroy's lets play. I fell in love with the game and eventually got it for the wii for christmas. I made it to the high entia tomb, but my brother accidentally saved over my file, so I had to restart. I got to Valek Mountain, but then our wii broke. I got it for the 3ds next, and got to Valek Mountain again. I stopped playing for a while, and a few days after I began playing again, the trailer for Definitive Edition was released, so I stopped playing the 3ds version to wait for the rerelease. I began rewatching Chuggaaconroy's let's play again, but never got to this part of his let's play. I got Definitive Edition and fell in love with this game once again. I played it anytime I could, and when I got to the Fallen Arm and heard this theme, I never remembered it from Chuggaaconroy's lets play, as I never got here on repeat watches, and just sat for a bit listening to this theme. I made sure to play through the parts when the characters were apart at night so I could hear this beautiful song as I played.Whenever I did quests on the fallen arm, unless it had to be day, I set the time to night.
TL:DR This theme is amazing and I love it

Man this reminds me of how much I’ve skipped this game. I saw it on my Jailbroken wii and never figured to touch it (considering I was 8 at the time it either would’ve changed my life or I wouldn’t have understood it) but now that I’m 16 and playing this on the switch I’ve just been hit with this overwhelming feeling of nostalgia. It’s hard to describe but this song has brought back so many memories. God bless this game. It’s helped me through the quarantine so much, especially since my step-grandad died back in April. Seeing the way the characters treated death made me feel better, like I wasn’t alone. Either way this game is something that was just eventually going to make its way toward me, and it couldn’t have been at a better time.
      TL:DR buy this game......please

I just got to this part in the game and while I've loved the soundtrack to much this song just floored me. I stopped dead in my tracks and just stood there listening to this. This song captures the vibe of the situation so perfectly and i just love how the two (string) instruments play off eachother; the sombre cello and that relaxed guitar, god damn beautiful.

Back on Easter this year, I took a second and noticed something when I was grinding for Rainbow Slugs down here. By the time you make it here, so much has changed. What started as the story of a mysterious sword and two brothers in arms going to avenge their people becomes something so much more.
I'm at the end of the story and that feeling has only compounded over time. We've lost so much, we've gained much more, and yet, we still have a job to do. Plus, think of the people of this place, how they have to feel just watching everything happen around them.
This theme is a far departure from triumphant songs like Gaur Plain, and I think that's reflective of what it took to get here and what it will take for the rest of the journey. The Fallen Arm is such an important place in Xenoblade, and I never realized just how much until now.

I love the symbolic biological fauna growing on the arm too. It feels like a bridge between the two titans where the inhabitants understand that they are both victims and not enemies, and the party realises it too at this point of the game. Moreover the characters have some good personal development too and it feels like a nice reflection period. The track has a lovely melancholic harmony that really captures all this too, you're right about this location being really important imo!

To keep with the theme of everyone having backstory with this song, I’ll retell a story I’ve told once or twice in the comment sections of Xenoblade songs uploaded by J.O.E., and add onto that story here.
In 2020, of all years, video games began to become very stale to me. Nothing really surprised me anymore, and every time I entered a game after 30 minutes-2 hours I’d be bored as hell with nothing to do. I mostly just played the Pokémon Shield DLC and Minecraft. So Christmas was approaching and I wasn’t too sure what I wanted. So I decided that it had been a while since I had gone into a game completely blind (Pokémon doesn’t count), so I quickly selected a mysterious game series that over the past two years had kinda been floating around my life. For Christmas 2020, I got Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition. I played it throughout the day, having a little bit of fun around Colony 9 and the Bionis Ankle, but I was really impressed. Then all of sudden, roughly 2-3 hours into the game, it did something I wasn’t expecting: Fiora died, and man did it hit the feels. I knew was in for one hell of an emotional story and I was so ready to get it going. Especially in the last month of 2020 I was going through a very dark time in my life, probably the darkest. Then January 3rd hit, and a very personal tragic event happened that made me spiral into a deep perpetual depression. Not a moment went by that my insides didn’t feel like they were burning, because of my failures and my friends’ betrayals. I was consumed by complete, eternal darkness, but Xenoblade was my light, my hope. The one thing keeping me from plunging into the abyss of insanity and the painful cruelty of the Universe. I just share so many happy memories with the game, it’s characters, and especially its story.
I remember see THE Prison Island twist and not being able to stop my jaw from dropping. Shortly after I was called down for dinner and that was the only thing I could think about as I ate my ravioli.
And finally, I remember the weekend I finished the game. And by that time I was out of my depression. Life is still rough and I have far fewer friends than before, but it’s better. And I have only Xenoblade to thank for that.

For some reason, whenever I listen to this, I think of this scene I made up: (trigger warning for suicide)
As the girl walked through the desolate town, she turned the corner into the little park where they sometimes spent time together.
"I wonder if he's okay", she thought. "It's not like him to be out this late, let alone ask someone to come out with him." As she drifted off into a wistfully worried train of thought, she almost tripped as she walked up the steps.
    "You came", said the boy.
Just beyond the top of the steps, a lonely bench lay behind the fence overlooking the river, on which the boy sat, wistfully observing the girl who wore an expression unknown to him. The girl wondered what was going on inside his head, what he was doing and how come she had felt so closely connected to him from the day they had met, like the sun to the moon at every beginning and end. That look in his eyes that seemed so...final. She yearned to know if the worst was really true.
"Should I...sit down?", the girl asked, realising that she had been staring into the boy's eyes for a full thirty seconds.
"If you'd like, sure." said the boy.
The girl came closer and sat beside him on the bench. A gentle, quiet breeze caressed their faces as they sat alone, together, and the girl desperately looked for something more in the boy's blank, resolved expression. The empty town surrounded them like an old cradle.
"I asked you to come here", the boy began, and the girl prayed not to hear the end of his sentence. "So I could say goodbye." The girl's chest tightened as she felt another life slipping away from her, and she tried to find words to reply to his despair. Turning her head to face his once more, she gazed into his eyes as if to burn them into her heart and mind forever.
"I know I can't make you do anything", she forced out, so softly like the gentle breeze. "But if you can bear it just a little longer...I'd like you to stay." After a few long seconds of silence, the boy replied.
    "I'll think about it."
The two of them sat together in the lonely night, pondering in silence for a little while. Gazing at the boy, who gazed at the single star in the sky, the girl had never felt so close to him, yet so far away. It was as if she could have reached out to touch him and felt only the cold winter air, yet her heart felt warm while she was beside him. Still, she wanted to reach for him and hold him in her arms forever, and shield him from the world, from all harm, so he could never leave her. She shrugged off the thought when she realised how selfish it seemed.
"I should be going", said the boy, resolved in his decision still.
    "Home?" Asked the girl.
    "My house." Replied the boy.
He stood up. The girl wished time would stop. Unable to bear the events in motion any longer, she jumped up and hugged him tight. The boy, for a moment forgetting the meaning of the gesture, hesitated before slowly hugging her back.
"Someone once told me that home is when you're with the ones you love."
"The ones...you love?" The boy whispered, his voice trailing off into the wind.
"Those lights, who guide you in the dark." Replied the girl, still holding him both tightly yet so gently, as if he was the most precious thing in the world. "I...could be yours. And you could be mine."
"Maybe..." replied the boy, softly. "Maybe so." They held each other still, warmed in the cold winter air by their beautiful dream, singing each others' tired hearts to sleep. After what felt like both a few seconds and a lifetime, they pulled away from each other.
    "Be safe", implored the girl.
    "See you." Said the boy.

I MUCH preferred the daytime theme in the original game and while I still do in the remake, this comes very close to beating it. This theme got such a great glow-up.

I think that's the idea they were going for. The motif of the main theme crops up quite a lot, actually. Seems particularly strong here though, and that definitely makes sense in the context of the game.

The title theme has G minor key, and this theme is in G# minor key, just a half step up keychange.
