Great to hear! Yes, your boys were fabulous in the TDF, and what a finale with Pog beating Rog - we go skiing every year to Kranjska Gora with a Slovenian friend who lives here in UK. Lovely country - not much cricket, though, I imagine.

Very nice to see even the oldies enjoying a game! We had a send off retirement game for a club legend who hung up his boots at almost 70, I think that proves go on as long as you can!

I played in this game for Selsdon cracking game to be a part of. Don’t let age stop you we still have a player who plays regular Sunday cricket for us who is 78. He might even be our highest wicket taker this season !

Love your cricket show . Age is no barrier ,i had a 5 bypass heart operation in 2013 and made a cricket comeback in 2015 .I am now 70 and play or practice cricket all year round . I live in Adelaide South Australia Australia and our season is starting in October .

Absolutely!
05:45 A codger mantra, 'don't give up, but if you have come back'. There just needs to be a system of grading so everyone fits in. For example, for every 50 year old there needs to be a 16 year old to do the fielding and finding the ball in the long grass.
That's what we try and do - mix codgers and good youngsters.

One can only admire a man like Del who takes the long (and post bypass) approach with two new bats. How Sanderstead lost this is beyond me...although Longcock senior should be fined big time for that run out. Batting that well and thinking about quitting the game at 50 years is outrageous...and silly. And despite Dan’s best efforts...the archbishop will never replace that wonderful Asian cleric Cardinal Sin. 🏏🏏👍🙏
We (or rather "they") messed up the bowling changes - we still had 3 overs each of Greg and Dutchy! That said, the batter at the end (Shivmangal - there's a name) was excellent and deserved the win!

Oh the dreaded sight of a codger buying new equipment. The resident codger at our club bought some new spikes at the start of this season, his last pair lasted 20 years, he's almost 65 so god help us if he's planning on another 20 years.
Should be banned - the whole point of codgers is that they bring kit from the 1980s!

stephen richards And a great ground in a forest at Meudon where Hampshire have played. (I removed Robin Smith ...he fell asleep waiting for my quicker ball) and he returned the favour at deep mid on. @@mikewilliams4499 A number of well known celebs used to visit Eymet for the summer and form two teams. I actually refused to join them on the principle that you do not try to change the culture of the country that hosts you. However, watching the game is almost as good at my age. That's why i'm so grateful to the Sanderstead crowd.

The boys walking in front of the sightscreen were funny. You don't want to have someone walking around in your line of vision when a cricket ball is rocketing towards you like in this game.
Also it's a long walk around those sightscreens as we can see a few seconds later.
What has the league approved to shine the ball during the innings? Our season here in Australia hasn't started yet and as far as I'm aware our league hasn't stated anything yet.

We once bowled for 40 overs to keep a batsman at the crease as his strike rate was so low.
He was mighty happy being undefeated having scored 40 runs from 45 overs.
We applauded him off the field with his "magnificent innings".

Do any youngsters actually get to play Senior cricket with you because in all the videos I see, you appear to want to play the older players until they drop. Id be a bit concerned with so many players of this age group in one team? Where are the kids that should be in fixtures like these and your 4th XI?
scott fĺetcher thanks for the question. This is our 5th XI - it’s geared up for the Codgers. The youngsters play mainly in our 3rd and 4th XIs and also in a development league on a Sunday.
