What a win !! The opening "bowler" for opposition down the hill had some serious wheels on a up and down track, but easy when u clearly chuck the ball ! The lbw decision was a true shocker, but not surprised to see it given if they can't see a guy clearly chucking it.
Thanks, but I reckon it’s a bit harsh on the umpires - they have no referral technology and give what they see. All are entitled to the odd mistake. They were lovely chaps who did their best and I’d have them again every time. Would love the focus to be more on the magnificent last wicket partnership. Apparently they can’t call throwing in a match (league guidelines) but can submit a report to the league. It’s a tough law because it’s very difficult to judge 15 degrees of straightening with the naked eye in real time while looking out for everything else!
When umpiring your eyes are focussed on the batsman's end, you cannot see whether a bowler is chucking it when they are alongside you. The point at which his elbow is bent, he isn't in front of you.
@@Wally-H square leg should be watching too? The standing umpire is required to watch the bowler, in particular his feet, so he shouldn't be "focused" on the batsman's end until the ball is released. If square leg identifies a problem in the delivery action, the standing umpire should step back a yard to also have a look.
@@Wally-H which is why the square leg should be watching and advise the standing umpire of a suspect action. Truth be told, if it happened in club cricket there'd be a fight on the field. Most club cricketers don't know the technical laws well enough to do anything about these type of things.

Remarkable win, I can't remember seeing too many games like this. I do recall playing in a league match in Kent where the opposition needed around 26 to win with one wicket left and our keeper dropped a simple catch behind by tossing the ball up to celebrate before he'd got it fully under control, dropping it in the process - they then proceeded to knock off the runs. I tell this story because I know how that Hampton changing room would have been after this match - very quiet! The great efforts of a couple here can't paper over the cracks of the usual batting frailties, as you mentioned in the commentary. Same old lack of concentration and patience nearly cost Sanderstead another game. It's so easy for players to just do the same old routine; turn up at nets, try to crash the ball about off your mates bowling, play Saturday, rinse and repeat - when the same mistakes are being made, perhaps your top order need to sit down round a table with a pint of Pilgrim and discuss what they need to do to resolve this as it's been going on a long time. Anyhow thanks as always for the video. The other day I was watching one from six years ago and seeing how much you've improved the production over that time was interesting - you're doing a great job.
I've been involved in a game like this before. Batting 11 with the number 9, we chased down 70 odd to win the game. My partner finished on 65 not out and I finished 2 not out 😂. They dropped him early on too. No feeling in cricket comes close to winning a game in that manner.
