Ohhhhhhh Dan what a game. Thank you. Worthy of live coverage. Some outstanding performances. We are being treated to some amazing cricket Bt this wonderful club. So glad to be able to see it Rob
Normality has been restored for my Sunday morning viewing pleasures. For the past 3 years I’ve been watching SCCTV, having breakfast, enjoying an ice coffee and a smoke for 30 minutes. It’s blissful. Welcome back!
@@SandersteadCCTV I do and had to spend 4 hrs yesterday catching up 🤣😂 never knew I was this far behind. Summer cricket came earlier than usual this time around.
I love this I've just subscribed so will be tuning in every week, I have lived in Cornwall for 30 years but used to live in Croydon and played for Old Mid Whitgiftians.
Another cracking game what a prospect Amara is must the first team bat fifty overs before being able to declare let's say Sanderstead scored three hundred in forty overs could they declare and claim the remaining ten overs
You can declare as early as you like - so using your example, if we scored 300 in 40 overs and declared, we would get 60 overs to bowl the other side out. Very rare!
Bad luck - it’s annoying when a game is rained off but everyone else plays. I think they should create a fairer points system for rain offs - something like the average points of all games played split in half? Just a thought.
Another great team performance and again I was impressed with Amarah and her 4 important overs. That could have been a pivotal moment for her to bowl - I am certain the opposition would have seen her as a potential opportunity? Keep the good times going :)
Not a bad game, nice chase with lots of ragged if not filthy fielding on show and in lots of missed catches. Nice all round effort by JAllen , I thought he bowled really well but with zero luck, tough umpire. Nice to see T in the runs and a magnificent innings by JC. Amarah (I hope the spelling is correct) should have been bowled more - she is a class act.
Seeing Amara play 1st XI cricket is so good! Well deserved and she keeps getting better ! I try to film my games at Worcester park Cricket club, will you be filming at the 2nd XI game at our place at the end of the season ?
Not this week - we do have an U14s “thriller in the dark” in the edit suite and a T20 on Wednesday bs our local rivals Old Whitgiftians. Filth next week…
Not sure if your keeper is usual keeper, but being on the right side of the stumps when fielders are throwing in would be a basic principal to follow, not just for it being a chance for a run out but also as a target for fielders.
Not sure which is better/worse, but we could never guarantee consistent availability for 2 weekends to make sense. Also, for me, it would be a terrible problem re editing - I think I’d give up having to wait two weeks before getting a game out there….
Wow another thriller!!! It's hard keeping up with 3 you tube teams!!! My apologies didn't realize that the Sanderstead team was 5 on the trot!!.Does not help when you are having the odd pint while watching cricketing greatness!

Amarah is great. Sorry, but I will always find different angles so as to show the character of grounds - if you want single angle cricket watch frog box stuff....
@@SandersteadCCTV I think you do a good job with the positioning. Long-on and long-off are best from a cricket perspective but some footage from side-on or cow gives you an idea of the ground dimensions, landscape and also pace of the bowling.
@@SandersteadCCTV just finished watching the top of the table clash game. Spoiler Alert for anyone reading with next week's results, stop reading if you dont know, but Dan it Looks like the lads are maturing and finding ways to win the close ones. Love to see it. Running marathons you say? What a legend.
The points system in this format is mind boggling… 5 runs short in 10 less overs and you only come away with 5 more points than your opponents such a big advantage to the team batting first
As a player I found this format created some interesting situations and it is a lot better than they format I played when I first started club cricket. I remember a game where the overseas player (who had already scored one of the most flawless 130’s I’ve ever seen!) destroyed our top order and the win was pretty unlikely. But we had incentive to keep pushing to try for a winning draw. It made the rest of the game a LOT more interesting and we came off the field feeling we had achieved something rather than just surviving 30 overs. As a teen, I found it incredibly frustrating to play games where the opposition blocked out 20-25 overs once they lost early wickets and had no chance at the win. One team had a number 11 who would rarely hit the ball more than 2 metres. Literally 20 overs where we might as well have just had bowler, batsman and keeper out there! 😬
@@antog42I can relate. I once played a game where we declared on 230odd after 36 over, giving us 64 to bowl at them. Bowled them out in the 63rd over with a team score of 36. We got through 23 overs in an hour, I’ve never had warmer hands as a wicket keeper and one of theirs batted 36 overs for 6 not out.
A few people have asked - he’s got seriously into marathon running (and he’s very good!) and that seems to take up his weekends. Hopefully he’ll find some time for a comeback soon!
Good game, Jallen, Alfie and Amarah were the pick of the bowlers for me, Amarah should’ve bowled more, Jallen deserved a wicket and Alfie put the pressure on nicely. With the bat, the attack started with Chris and ended with JC Jallen and T. They all look in good nick.
Now when the old saw mill cricket club post the Mens 1st XI does the title have a change like Mens and Women 1st XI or Persons 1st XI maybe a first example for the other clubs to follow. Or maybe a woman colts /Mens first XI in a 16 to ear olds case. Amazing all brought to buy Sanderstead Cricket club and Sanderstead TV!
Agreed - though we had 6 front line bowlers yesterday so it was difficult to share the overs more. However, Amarah is loving the experience as you could hear from the little interview with her. She will only get better and better!
He used to open but the switch was made because he was getting out early l too often and then not there for the middle overs where he can really punish the bowlers
@@SandersteadCCTV : I'm not in the "Surrey set up" obviously but have played a lot of cricket. Reason I said that is because my own bowling had the same issue. As with golf, coaches aren't always a help.
Gentlemen, can you explain this ridiculous system, where one team gets 55, overs and their opponents 45, overs. How is that fair, or sane, I think I was watching a Horley C.C., game and they were complaining about the same system. I believe they were saying, that in their league, the system was soon to be dropped. In a country that is known for fair play, the question must surely be, how did such a system ever get suggested, or utilized? It was a moral victory, that deserved to be a victory in reality. Let's hope that fair play and sanity, prevails and that your league drops what appears to be such a manifestly un-British and unfair, system, rant over.
Lovely rant - thank you! You are pretty much spot on in your analysis. I could try and justify the rationale for you, but there’s little point as the format is being dropped from the end of this season! But think of a one innings test match where to win batting first you have to set a score and time your declaration by calculating your chances of getting all 10 wickets of the opposition before the time is up. It works when you have a whole day, but not effective in an afternoon where the time limit is short (100 overs in the game with a max 55 overs for the side batting first) as you observed.
Though this format is absolutely terrible - probably should have won this one… bit too slow in the middle order especially with the batters who came in after.
Probably right, impossible to know, but another day we would have won it with the approach taken. 244 off 45 was never easy. Agree on the format - and it is being scrapped from the end of this season.
In theory it’s a good format, but 100 overs is too short to make it work well, and skippers are too used to straight 50:50 to adjust to the more nuanced format. But fear not, it’s being abandoned after this season. That said, it produced a cracking match - and if it was a simple 50:50 win/lose we would have probably won easily and it would have been a bit dull.
