Even as a huge pavement fan, I have to admit that their performances are very hit or miss. But this performance is the one that showcases just how amazing Malkmus was.
So effortlessly cool. Damn SM, SS, MI all look so goodamn suave as they rip these atonal fukallya riffs, which fit there perfectly...great stuff. Vintage pavement.
I am maybe in love and I'm listening in repeat this song and you all don't know me so I can finally write my feelings down somewhere. in peace. Pavement fomented my infatuation from the begin, I want me and him to stay earnest together.
thats a nice habit of them. they choose appropiatly songs for starting, carrying you through the cd and finishing. and all crooked rain, wowee and brighten have beautiful perfect for ending songs
Yep. They just had that certain something, didn't they? It just flowed out without a lot of fuss. It's the whole band, too - the whole package. At the time I saw them as simply the best of those that were doing similar things, but now I see them as way more than that.
does anyone have any idea whether stephen's jazzmaster is vintage or CIJ? Since he's started using it in 1997, it obviously couldn't be an american reissue, which came out in 1999, right?
you are kidding me! Do you where I could get some information about this tour? I am wondering if it will reach even Italy....at least european cities, I am willing to treavel ditant to not miss them....
this for me is a must anything three brews and up. and @chaosprune, if you can't feel the Hendrix in that solo you, well why say something snooty cause i love ya brother, but Malkmus was feelin this like Hendrix at Woodstock. check Hendrix Villinova Junction at Woodstock. get the same feeling in your heart. aint nothing like a cat going off on it thats when we feel it. it be the spirit being set free, peace to thee!
It's bloody hard to tell as the footage is a bit grainy, the fact that it's so beat up (note the missing tone knob and toggle cap) I'd guess vintage. I've played plenty of cij ones, they're excellent guitars.

Favourite guitar solo ever.
Listening to SM and pavement for over a quarter century, it’ll never get old. Ever.

The greatest song written by Malkmus, and that's saying a lot. One of my favorite guitar verses of all time at the end of the song.
I've never been exactly sure why...but Malkmus has been my favorite guitarist for the past 20 years. To me he is Midas
The only regret in my life is to never have seen them in concert...
I love to love pavement.
