Robbie Jones he usually plays the rhythm parts when singing, but regardless a phenomenal musician! Although there was one song that he tapped and sang at the same time. Absolutely insane.
If you want to play complicated parts and sing, all you have to do is slow it down and then you learn where the notes interact. Like you might sing a note, then an eighth note later you play a guitar note. You have to think of them both as one part. Man it's really hard to explain, but it's like using left and right hands on a piano, or using all your appendages as a drummer. The more complicated it is the harder it becomes obviously, you also need to be skilled at both singing and playing the guitar, but it's not as difficult as someone who hasn't tried it might believe. If you can sing the vocal, and play the guitar parts individually without too much effort, then with practice it shouldn't be too hard for you to do both at the same time. Just slow it down to the point where you can do both (that might be 60 bpm, it doesn't matter so long as you can actually do it), and speed it up gradually until you're at the right speed. I can solo and sing at the same time for example, so long as I'm not improvising the solo and I have practiced both parts individually and together. You just stop thinking about it, and do it, like you would anything else you practice enough.
I think Erra (especially currently) is good at holding back something so what is forefront can be recognized first. Some bands it's just everything on loud and it loses quality

Clear the dissonance and recover me
Fears suppressed exploit our lust
And our memories turn to rust
And when we reach that point, barren of things to say
There's nothing left to save, do not resuscitate
Swallow your pride, hide what you feel inside
There are some things that cannot be rectified
