As someone who works at a movie theater, you would not believe the amount of people who didn't know what The Wizard of Oz was. I had dozens of middle-aged to elderly women calling Glinda "Elsa", and somehow thinking it was a Frozen movie
What on earth Even through osmosis, I figured everyone would know the original, but I guess it’s like when they interviewed kids to see how many recognize Jesus and Ronald McDonald
Frozen was probably inspired to a large extent by Wicked the stage show, including its title, so I'm not entirely surprised that they'd pick up on that vibe.
I like how James' son only exists as this weird little costumed gremlin. Almost like James is a good parent who actually gives a shit about his son's wellbeing and doesn't just expose him to the horribleness of the internet when he's not old enough to understand what that means.
I still occasionally flash back to the rambling walk to nowhere I went on over lockdown on which I listened to/watched that video. Covid wasn’t all doom and gloom.
Terrifier 3 at almost $90m worldwide grossed 45 times its $2m production budget! Lupita Nyong'o had a good 2024 with The Wild Robot ($324m) & A Quiet Place: Day One ($262m) which did well critically & financially (grossed 4 times their production budgets). Twisters, Wicked & Beetlejuice Beetlejuice all did incredibly well domestically but struggled outside North America where they made just 28-35% of their total box office which is definitely not the norm for Hollywood Blockbusters!
Yah omitting the existence of Sony and marvel TV shows, blockbuster and cinema did pretty good this year. Not an obscene amount of "terrible" movies like usual
@@TooFresh902 Agatha All Along had really good ratings, and they only released one movie this year that made over a billion. Marvel has done really well this year.
I don't think I had ever seen the eponymous legs from "We're Elves and our Dad's Just Legs" and had always assumed it was cuz the elves were small and the dad was so big you only saw his legs. THE MAGIC OF CINEMA
It’s interesting hearing you say wicked dragged as one of my main takeaways when I left was how wonderfully paced it was, felt like that it had space to easily be longer, never too long between songs, left you wanting more but didn’t feel like it was too rushed. Wonderful. The pacing and the real life sets were what left the biggest impressions on me
I still watch these videos because you guys always make me laugh and you present information in an entertaining way. But I will watch the biggest bombs video sooner and in one go.
Wicked has really good legs. It came out 36 days ago along with Gladiator 2. This past Friday Wicked made another $6.8 M to Gladitor's $1.3 mil. right behind Nosferateu's $7.2 million on it's opening weekend.
There's some money these movies lost... namely from people like ME who DIDN'T go to see them in theaters because I'm getting sick and tired of these market-friendly trends!!!
Didn't they say earlier this year that they were planning on doing hits/bomb videos for older years as well? I wonder why they stopped after 5 episodes or so? I think the only got to 2018, maybe?
I'm pretty sure they started this series in 2018, so they never actually begun their 'older years' series yet. We'll just have to see if they ever actually do it. I would tune in for them definitely.
They actually added more lore from the Wicked book and explained more about magic and the grimorie! They also took their time in some emotional moments that the show has to speed through!
The editing in these videos is incredible. The little clip from Red One at 0:38 showing a polar bear when he says "bearing in mind".
As someone who works at a movie theater, you would not believe the amount of people who didn't know what The Wizard of Oz was. I had dozens of middle-aged to elderly women calling Glinda "Elsa", and somehow thinking it was a Frozen movie
Some people are too stupid for oxygen.
Very few people who saw Wizard of Oz in theatres are still around. Frozen is much more recent, and has similar vibes.
What on earth
Even through osmosis, I figured everyone would know the original, but I guess it’s like when they interviewed kids to see how many recognize Jesus and Ronald McDonald
Not stupid. Just don't pay attention to media or Holywood. It's how Right Wing Grifters get them because they don't pay attention.
Frozen was probably inspired to a large extent by Wicked the stage show, including its title, so I'm not entirely surprised that they'd pick up on that vibe.

I think James just made Claire watch too many comic book movies when their son was in the womb and he just looks like that now
@@Skywalker21Othat’s pretty standard parenting outside the US 👍
Which movie? I’m terrible with names of characters but I still remember their features and characteristics
the souvlaki hut ad starring australia’s very own anthony koutoufides from 2009 better make the top 5
I still occasionally flash back to the rambling walk to nowhere I went on over lockdown on which I listened to/watched that video. Covid wasn’t all doom and gloom.
Legend of the game Anthony Koutoufides?!
I sometimes remember the video James made and smile while a single tear roll down my cheek
Wha5t
@@GreaserManI think you’re confusing that bit with legend of the game and occasional Subway sandwich enjoyer Dermott Brereton
I actually like knowing the biggest box office stuff through you guys. It's more fun than dry numbers.
That "It does both things" Editors joke RIGHT at the end got me laughin'. :D Thanks lads!
SAAAAAME 😂😂
Collings and Matthew frigging nailed it
A Quiet Place “the Shushening” 😂😂😂😂
They’re going to do Sinister Six with no Spider-man and all six of them will just be sitting around not knowing what to do.
It’ll be like those Grownups movies.
@@li-limandragon9287lmaoooo
It might have *something* to do with Spider-Man… anywho, wanna team up?
I'd unironically watch that.
“and then his head regrows and it’s Brian” i laughed so hard i almost choked on my food
I absolutely love these yearly videos even though I didn't see a single one of these movies.
Same. Bunch of kids stuff but I'm shocked people still come out for the other ones. Guess the post-covid streaming laziness missed a few
4:42 was a great edit 👏 loved that Hmmm syncing up 😁

Collings and matt, great work guys. Had my crackin up at multiple spots
A Quiet Place: The Shushening got me really good😅
A new Mr Sunday video.. perfect; now I can have breakfast.
Like we care about ur breakfast that ur not sharing

"it does both things", cut to Challengers...begin slow hand clap. (ben from canada lives on in the editing choices.)
leaving a like cause you gotta eat your veggies man
I bloody left a bloody like
bloody well bloody done mate
12:05 i live how there's a random cut there, implying that the bit went on to long and whomever is editing was like, "yea, to long of a bit
Hey, I'm watching! With the back-and-forth between you two, I'd watch almost anything.
“On the bombs” sounds like an Aussie euphemism for bathroom activities.
ive seen Djune part 2 at least 10 times
5:12 love the edit implying that the dog actor was tricked or underutilized
I read this as "I love the edit implying the dog actor was tricked and euthanized" lmao
I will always respect James’ choice to hide his kids’ faces and names from online weirdos. Good job.

Finally the time to find out the hits and the pits.
I like your scientific formula for figuring out the movies budget "just double it" lazer point accuracy, not pea brained at all
Excellent stuff as usual, gents.
It makes me sad that "WORST" lists always do better than "BEST" lists.
As a Godzilla fan I’m so glad these movies are doing pretty well I will never be tired of Godzilla
Mothra should get a movie.
the cut to THAT challengers scene when james said “it does both things” was NOT an accident
Would love to see you guys cover horror more. That rapid fire shoutout to the moderate horror hits just makes me think “whoa, hold on! Tell me more!”
18:27 so foul for this 😂
“It does both things”…editors!!!! 😱😂
👀
I can’t believe Mason was the Bay Harbour Movie Reviewer
Kraven will be on both lists
Thanks for the entertainment. Cheers! 🌅🥃👏🏻
Literally tracked this down just because you guys were so down on it in the box office flops video
Thanks for the video, gents!
You guys stop coming up on my recommend videos I’m glad i remembered your videos.
The "It does both things" flash of Challengers got me!
😂
18:10 what IF Bob Iger was only legs?
For the record I like these videos. It's my "state of cinema" recap
Missed you guys. Glad to see you
Not the challengers edit during the Inside Out 2 bit 😂😂
That Paul walker joke was great
I did Glicked lmfao
"Bearing that in mind"
Amazing.
7:25 Maso please be careful Hollywood will watch this and get ideaa
With each entry im just thinking “f**k it was a bad year” 💀
Dude this year was fantastic for more indie things
Plenty of great movies came out.
Doesn't mean they made the most money.
The clip from Challengers was VERY good
These are some of my favorite videos !
I like how the plural of Twister is Twistis, but the singular is Twista.
I love these videos. They always show me all of the movies that i haven't seen and dont plan on seeing.
I really liked A complete unknown that just came out on Christmas. Hope it does pretty well.
If you make the Hits video on a lower budget than the Bombs video, then maybe proportionally it can be more successful even with fewer views.
Wow a lot of terrible movies made absolute bank this year. This sucks.
It's striking how so many of the most popular films are computer animation films.
I still watch these videos because you guys always make me laugh and you present information in an entertaining way. But I will watch the biggest bombs video sooner and in one go.
1:38 Is that not Less Than? 🤔
Every year I try to support the hits video, but the bombs videos is always better
Ryan Reynolds will be in anything for the paycheck. The guy was in Red Notice, he'd do another Deadpool in a heartbeat.
19 minutes of me going "wait that came out this year??"
2:54 that interview alone was so uncomfortable that I saw Kraven instead of Wicked
Damn yeah Wicked was a surprisingly fun experience but I knew exactly what I was gonna get with Kraven and still wasted time and money
I gave it a 👍 in the spirit of positivity
6:43 Adorable
Delicious vegetables right here.
But I can't wait for my steak.
7:36 Dom vs Zilla in a quarter mile. I want to see it
This was great. Can't wait for the bombs though

I am here for the hating of vegetables 😂😂😂😂😅 but i stayed for the dad Dune jokes.
editing is king 🎇🎊🎭
cheers mate!!
Damn the bombs get more views than the success! Says alot about the world
The pitch for Fast & Furious X Godzilla X Kong: The New Family sounds amazing
Getting glicked out to this one
James: “Garfield and his deadbeat dad”
Maso: “what??”
Idk why but this part killed me
“Quiet Place the Shh-ning” sent me 😂

Haha, im here from the other video! Take that the both of you!
I had to double check that I hadn't actually clicked on the "Worst of 2024" video, then I remembered what actually came out in 2024.
“I didn’t love this” was the response to basically every movie on this list.
Fun fact, in Australia, everything is backwards, including mathematical symbols.
Had to scroll through so many comments to see if anyone else said something before I had to
I think you should make more videos about movies that DONT make a lot at the box office.
They actually added more lore from the Wicked book and explained more about magic and the grimorie! They also took their time in some emotional moments that the show has to speed through!
Rewatching this a thousand times to work out exactly when it was filmed based on the news about the SPUMM
another year of the hits/bombs series, another year of me asking to instead call it hits and shits
Inside out 2 -“What if emotions had feelings”
Love how the box office greater than symbols are actually the less than symbols. Keep up the quality work lads!
The biggest hit of the year was all the videos you legends released.
How in the world did BeetleJuice with all sorts of weird and wacky effects cost 100 million but Joker cost 200 million with like one big explosion.
“Josh Hartnett…He’s in a ‘Hitman’ level.” OK, that got me!
Wait, did they put Knull in a movie already? What in the Batman Who Laughs? hahah money
I highly recommend DREAM PRODUCTIONS, the spinoff mini-series to Inside Out.
It is incredibly clever and entertaining.
I feel like I just watched the 2023 version of this. How is it the end of the year already
I like these videos. It's a good list of movies to watch if I missed them somehow.
Terrifier 3: 2 million budget, 80 million+ in theatres.
FOURTY TIMES its budget. That's the real winner of the year.
