- How to make a tooled leather bifold wallet. In this leather craft video I show the meticulous process of making a custom tooled leather bifold wallet from beginning to end. The wallet is made from natural vegetable tanned leather that has been hand finished and hand stitched throughout. The outer panel of the wallet has been designed to have the appearance of multiple layers of leather by utilizing tooling techniques with the addition of faux stitch lines. This combination gives the outer wallet panel a nice detailed look while keeping the panel thin by not actually adding any extra leather layers. The inside of the wallet features 6 card slots in total, in addition, a pocket is located behind each set of slots. This wallet also features a separate card flap that can be used to store an ID or other cards that may need to be visible and require quick access. I have seen many leather crafters and lately it has been almost 4 years following different crafters but believe me your work is a master piece and has an insane level of neatness, clarity and detail.
I appreciate that very much. But believe me, everything I make has it’s many flaws. It can be easy to hide them on camera. But thank you again 🙏

Thank you. Yes I made my work areas from 2x4’s and plywood. My cutting mat is a Fiskars 24”X36” mat that you can purchase at Walmart

Beautiful piece. not to downplay Corter or LKG or S&B, I love them. But your pieces are certainly more detailed and stunning.
I think you should try more of an ASMR approach though, the whole banjo sounding repeating bgm can get a bit annoying. otherwise, great vid and even better product. subbed.

I’m my experience it does not take very long for dye to dry. Especially if your using light coats from an airbrush. For my projects I only need about an hour of dry time.

Hello. Thank you very much. I used natural vegetable tanned leather from Wicket & Craig. The outer tooled panel is 1.5mm thick and the rest of the wallet is made from pieces 1mm to 1.2mm thick.

wondering what brand of airbrush do you use? Would like to get started in using it to accent the leather work I do in the future.
It is just a cheap airbrush set from Harbor Freight. I don’t know the brand name off the top of my head. But I’m sure any airbrush will work.

Thank you. It is hard to say because all the filming for the video takes up a lot of time. Probably would take about a week working on it a few hours a day.

Thanks. Tape on the back helps prevent the panel from stretching/disforming while tooling.

k can i ask one more question lol... how long does it usually take for dye to dry in the leather? Ive been watching many videos but yours are my fav tomorrow im going to go get all the supplies and i want to make a wallet like this .
If you use a lot of dye it can take about an hour to fully dry. If you use light coats like I often do with an air brush it only takes a few minutes to dry.
