  • Full Review Of The New Chevy Impala LT 2.5L. Start Up, Test Drive, And First Driving Impressions | Lawsons Car Reviews.
I found this car to be totally under powered for a full size sedan. The car does drive very smoothly, and has very good steering. The average gas mileage I was getting over 2 days was 23.4mpg. Horrible for a 4 cylinder.
The seats were not comfortable. They are hard and not well bolstered. Trunk size enough for two full suit cases and more easily. I found the back up camera to be a terrible quality & very grainy.
Overall I was not impressed with this car. However I have driven the V6 Premium model and it is much better. So all hope is not lost.

I have one that looks identical. A 2019 LT. But mine has the V6, leather seats, and panoramic sunroof.
Honestly, I bought the car primarily for its understated looks. I like having something forgettable rather than more pretentious like a Dodge Charger or Chrysler 300.
The other main thing that attracted me to this car was the price. Mine was an ex-rental with only 12,500 km (7500 miles) and was only 9 months old.. but was over $19,000CAD less than the sticker price of $42,500CAD. Sure, nobody pays sticker for GM.. but the new 2020s are still being listed for $36K with no sunroof. I probably could have got it for even less if I waited another month or two.
And for that price with that year and miles there was nothing comparable. Small or bare bones four cylinder FWD SUVs or compact cars.
The V6 is definitely the way to go. It’s absolutely effortless. No downshifts required for all but the hardest acceleration. Cruises at 140km all day. At 100km/h the engine is barely idling at 1600 RPM.
On the highway with quite a bit of speeding and lots of two lane passes I averaged 8.6l/100 km which is solidly 27 MPG.
I also found it to be very comfortable. Maybe it’s because this is the first newish car I’ve actually owned and most of my cars have been compacts. The only car comparable was my old Volvo 740. The leather seats might help too.
The interior does take some getting used to but I like it a lot more than my 2018 Civic. A lot more physical controls for the infotainment and climate control and in general things are better laid out.. if a bit ostentatious.
It’s funny because the steering wheel was the very first thing I noticed about the car too and I thought it was hideous. But it’s grown on me. I like it better than the one in my Civic with its rock hard and sticky buttons and weird layout. Having the volume and seek buttons on the back is genius.
Thanks for the objective review. You don’t see too many of them.

Thank you. Not many people can be truly objective about a car they own or like. I own an older Impala and have driven 3 of the newer ones. The other two I drove were the v6 premier and they were so much nicer and I gave them a much nicer review overall. If you look through the recent videos there is a 2020 red Impala, a 2010 red Impala video that is my own, and a comparison video of the two also. Thanks for watching

I will only buy the 4 cylinders, not the v6. Yes, middle-size cars have better mpg, but they do not come with the rear legroom and the larger trunk size. The 4-cylinder is perfect for a family car, and it is fast enough. I never feel my 157 hp, 3100lbs 2002 Camry 4 cylinder slow, and the 4-cyl Impala even comes with a slightly better hp/lb ratio. I do every work on my cars. I hate to work on V6 cars since they are usually cramped to such as extent that it is a pain to change spark plugs and valve cover gasket on the bank close to the windshield. This is the case with my 06 Fusion V6. I will only buy v6 or v8 for large SUVs or trucks when the larger engines are definitely indispensable.

    • @LawsonsCarReviews

There is a huge difference between a camry 4 cyl and a impala 4cyl. And I've driven both. This car is not sufficient with a 4 cyl in it. The Camry on the other hand is

    • @passion830217

@@LawsonsCarReviews I have never driven an impala 2.5 liter. However, by the numbers, the Impala 2.5 has more power to weight ratio than my 02 Camry 4 cyl, which is the case for 196 hp/3700 lb to 157 hp/3100lb. Moreover, the impala also has the edge in the 0-60 time (8.2s vs 8.6s). I have never felt my 02 Camry 4 cyl is slow, but I felt the sluggishness from a 2003 Civic EX (127hp, 2700 lb). I guess it is hard to judge how adequate the impala 2.5 is without actually test driving it on highway accelerations.

Was last year of full options. I got one with V6, glad I did. The 2020 was limited and only 1/2 yr production. If you think the design is blah, check out the previous generation. Way better than the Maxima. Terrible, terrible terrible, hideous, partial hardly.

@@LawsonsCarReviews I don't hate the Maxima. Nissan is a lesser quality car company along with Mazda, Kia and Hyundai. When I was shopping for a car for my wife a few yrs back, we skipped those 4 brands since we hold onto cars longer than most. We shopped Toyota, Honda, Subaru, VW and Chevy and ended up getting a Forester. TMI Right?
