Joker: Folie à Deux is an upcoming American musical psychological thriller film and the direct sequel to the 2019 film Joker. Joaquin Phoenix reprises his role as the DC Comics character, the Joker, and Lady Gaga plays Harley Quinn. Zazie Beetz also reprises her role from the first film, while Brendan Gleeson and Catherine Keener join the cast in undisclosed roles. The film is directed by Todd Phillips, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Scott Silver. It is produced by Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Studios in association with Joint Effort.
Joker was initially conceived as a standalone film, although Warner Bros. intended for it to launch a DC Black film series. By August 2019, Phillips had expressed interest in making a sequel, although he reiterated that Joker was not set up to have one. Phoenix hinted about reprising his role in October 2019. A sequel officially entered development in June 2022, with Gaga and Beetz joining later that year. Principal photography took place in Los Angeles, New York City, and Belleville, New Jersey, from December 2022 to April 2023.
Joker: Folie à Deux is scheduled to be released in the United States on October 4, 2024, by Warner Bros. Pictures.

Gaga's character is a psychologist who uses music therapy and sometimes pretends to be an inmate to get closer to them.
It’s ironic that Lady GaGA has a song called “bad romance”. 🙌🏾

At first we didn’t understand what it was about, as we’ve seen Arthur descend into madness already in joker, and after watching the trailer again and again, came to the idea that it’s her fantasies and delusions, as she likes to sing, and she’s the star in all the dream sequences. Truly stunning shots. We wish there was an Oscar for trailers.

You nailed it. The title, the setting, and everything we know points to a film drenched in performance therapy. I too immediately thought that when the rumor mill sparker up regarding it being musical. A lot of people are taking that too literally.

Heh - so sorry to hear this - I think many of us were surprised with how much “truth” there was in the first Joker film … perhaps this one is going to do the same again in terms of dysfunctional love as opposed to the first films emphasis on being alone and lonely ❤️❤️❤️
I think this is a great take. Joker is running from his own followers, he doesn't care for them. He doesn't have "beliefs". He doesn't stand up for the little people like they think he's doing, it's all about him. He has no real agenda mostly. Even who he loves, Harley, Joker eventually gets fed up with. There's only one person that has a special place in Joker's heart

I think Coogan’s a fantastic actor as demonstrated with The Reckoning and Stan & Ollie.
I guess so - but his face for me is so synonymous with cringe TV (because he is so funny) that it tugged against the drama of the trailer x
