I just wanted to recommend watching the show Preacher (from 2016). Its based on a comic from same name, and i highly recommend, especially for people who enjoyed The Boys and Invincible..
That shot at the end with the window and the lipstick is *incendiary* I think. Absolutely incredible. It took my breath away just as much as the shot of the flipping car (filmed from a wheel well on the Batmobile) from the Batman trailer did. The kind of shot that seems like it will have an entire lesson plan built around it in film school curriculums in the future
I loved also how when he smiles the way he’s shot it looks as if the color is out of his face it almost looks as if he’s put a light amount of white makeup on his face

Looking forward to all the fan art that is going to inspire artists from Folie à Deux.
I still think you can have a version of Batman that could work in this universe. He just has to be written to be just as crazy as Joker. There is nothing sane about a billionaire that dresses as a bat to fight crime.
I rewatched the first Joker and I appreciate it Sooooooooo much more now than I did back then. I catches things I didn’t back then and overall I understood better this time around 😊
That's what I was thinking too! Similar to how the first one was with that twist that made Arthur think that he had a loving partner with him the whole time
Yeah I read that it's not actually a musical but that it's going to have musical elements and I think 2 musical numbers, and it makes sense for it to be in Arthurs and maybe Harleys mind. Especially concidering the first movie and Arthurs imagination.
@@misswitchbladegamer9733 Maybe, because in this trailer they make it look like Harley Quinn is also a patient at the institution when she's always portrayed as Doctor Quinzel 🤔 I'm thinking she's still a doctor, but the Joker is imagining her as a patient, with the whole musical framing.
Trailer is chefs kiss. It looks great. Every shot Especially the last one. Color palette and the over all tone. I’m only going off the trailer but I think it’ll be not only incredible to myself but a huge success. There’s something about leaning into the Mad Love theme and how Gotham is essentially theater and opera that’ll make this a perfect cocktail.

This sequel just screams poetry and I'm so there for this! I love the first movie and the cinematography is incredible! Holy moly! I honestly don't mind it being a musical for not original songs (songs that are already made), even though they kind of did that with the song "That's Life" and Arthur singing it in prison.
For me, DC has always been like that single spotlight in a dark room and I never got that feeling from the movies. Maybe a little bit with Tim Burton's Batman... but barely. I don't know how else I could explain it. Like the shadows and the lights are deeply intentional when it comes to DC characters. The Joker was so impactful, and I can't wait to see how Gaga adds to that.
I'm really trepidatious about them being in love. The whole point of their relationship is that Harley is another of Joker's victims. That she's in love and he manipilates her.
On what you're saying about mental health, I think the manipulation of a self-loathing narcissist would be a valuable exploration that they're not doing.
If I was in Mexico, I'd be running to the movie theaters ASAP thinking Joker 2 is released today (10-04-24 = 10th of April, 2024) 😆 So in this world Harley Quinn is not a doctor, but a patient committed to the same institution as the Joker?
Nah, those other "universes" suck. specially DCEU, don't care about it at all. I was glad that Joker came out as a stand alone picture at that time, and oh boy so fresh air in cinema, and fucking hell what a movie. This one, I hate musicals, hate them hard, but I will give it a try...
I really loved the first, specially due to the social commentary. I don't know how I feel about this one with Gaga getting shoehorned into it, but the first was a masterpiece, hoping this one will follow.
The fact that it's going to be mostly musical is an interesting choice and a risky one at that. But if Todd Phillips, Joaquin, the same writers from the last film and the same producers are on board than I don't see how this one can fail. Don't forget they are making a sequel to one of the most succesful films of all time! Huge Box Office success and few Oscar Nomination with Joaquin winning his first Oscar for Best Actor. It also seems like he most likely will be Nominated the second time for this role again with possibility of Gaga being Nominated as well, the cinematography is lit 🔥, the costumes, the production design and etc all looks fine to me, I think we might have another successful sequel right here. If they decide to make a third one then we might have one of the greatest trilogies of all time! I don't think this film with suck by any means, but I do have some worries that it could be divisive, some people will really love, some will just like it and appreciate it artistry and some will just dislike it or straight up hate it but I am leaning still on more of a positive side, I truly think this is going to be a good film, better than the first? Mm, will wait and see.
Would be DOPE if they kept the OG storyline and she was his psychiatrist, BUT after she learns and studies him she BECOMES a version of him and eventually ends up in there with him😢❤ Looks beautiful 😍
This movie just shot up to one of my most anticipated of the year, together with Civil War, Furiosa, Deadpool & Wolverine and Dune 2 (that lived up to the hype).
I remember y'all infamous review of the first Joker. I even remember the like-to-dislike ratio on that review. Hell, I even remember Todd Phillips saying that comic book fans wouldn't like it, which y'all proved. I will say this, if y'all double down on this one, I won't hold it against y'all. Will I be disappointed that y'all didn't like it? Yes, but I'll understand. As for me, since the first movie is in my top 3 all-time favorite comic book movies, I don't have any doubt that Folie à Deux will be just as amazing. I could be wrong, but I hope I'm not.
the worst part of the first movie is literally all of the comics connections. it's a decent movie on it's own, but every batman thing they were trying to incorporate felt forced as hell
This was a beautiful trailer and the transition from inside their head to the reality was amazing. And to have Harley Quinn as an inmate instead of a doctor like in the original timeline is a great idea. I'm guessing this is from the Elseworld comics even if it's not it's still a nice idea. I'm looking forward to this Frfr 💯💯👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Folie: pho-lee À: similar to how you pronounce the *a*’s in Gaga instead of usual English pronunciation Deux: the same exact act way you say it with *Hot shots part Deux*
The thing that bothered me about the first Joker film was how it was readily co-opted by far right incels who didn’t understand that it was a dyed in the wool leftist screed bemoaning the evils of late stage capitalism and the lack of empathy or humanity in what passes for mental health care in this country. The film itself is an absolute masterpiece of dystopian vision, though.
Agree. And then the pandemic happened and insurrection on 1.6.2021, so the film kind of doesn't feel like fiction at this point. Was the closest of a depiction of a modern-day society unravelling.
Yeah, but that's not the movie's fault. The number of evil people who consider various versions of Joker, the Punisher, or USAgent to be shining examples of morality is terrifying in general.
Especially given the choice of theme music for this trailer, it feels like it's just going to continue to lean in on showing a prison system that's genuinely not interested in rehabilitation but is just a system for incarceration that throws sick humans away & wholly lacks empathy to the point that escapism is a key contributing factor to their shared psychosis. Even the way he emphasizes _“I'm not alone anymore. THAT'S what we should be talking about.”_ is another scene that feels like a corrections officer or a counselor seeing him as a broken thing and is just looking at his condition rather than actually _LISTENING_ to the things that matter to him as a human being and could genuinely tip the balance for him in a positive way, thus facilitating his & Harley's (deeply toxic) codependency. I'm curious if this follows the core of the two characters where the trauma bond that draws them together eventually spirals into a horribly abusive relationship dynamic - as they're both using it as a coping mechanism for slightly different things, thus they both perceive the other person as being slightly distorted from how they actually are and keep twisting the real individual underneath it into this idealized fantasy of how they imagine the other COULD be that's just as much of a false reflection of reality as everything else they're imagining through their shared escapist fantasy.
It tells me that everything that's happened ever since the first film is just psychotic delusions going on in Arthur's head. I'd be surprised if "Harley" is real as well.
Who tells us that this movie takes the musical to another level? Will this revive the comic in cinema, understanding that the script is what really makes a film? Will this be bad like a Godfather 2 or an incredible sequel like TERMINATOR 2? Hopefully someone like Philips, at Marvel, dares to do something truly serious with their characters and not make Spider-man like a new Peter Pan, always a child, this could encourage a C. NOLAN to make Torment of Tood McFARLANE WITH A REAL SPIDER-MAN AND NOT A SPIDER KID ? THIS TRAILER IS A JEWEL!
Todd Phillips hates comic book movies, the first was meant to be a standalone masterpiece. As someone who didn't need a sequel to my top 5 fav movie I see how it could work.
🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 hey boys as always enjoy the reactions. There is one thing with the second Joker movie and I’m pretty sure because I know how advertising works, but I swear if they only kept it to this one trailer up until then I would be so happy because I am terrified absolutely terrified that the next trailer that will come out will start to try to, explain stuff and I kinda hate it because the way this is presented now it’s very numb numb numb tasty and it just makes me want to see more but I am terrified that they’re gonna release maybe like one more trailer or a TV trailer and it’s gonna like just start and shit I hope it doesn’t happen bye
The first one was good, but I considered it 'baby's first Scorsese'. It relied too heavily on his movies to be truly distinct. This looks really promising. If this brings the style without being a too-straight imitation of better movies, it could be something really special.
I feel like this is the SAME as the Wonka trailer. If you didn't already know and heard that this sequel is going to be a musical, this trailer in no way says as much. The average person will think it's just a sequel to the movie. There was no singing or anything in this trailer.
Mmmmmm you can see like small signs of the insane cinemtography of the 1st one the wild color design+perfect music/sound design as well. I think its a good casting choice I think Lady Gaga can do the sort of real intense creepy that comes with Arthur Fleck. And I am not in any way shape or form a typical "normie" moviegoer I can watch a musical! I see nothing wrong at all with it and if done well I think it works. And I am an insane music fan.
I just had a hard time with the first movie, because it’s so depressing. It’s beautifully done and I liked it, but can not rewatch it. Have a feeling this second movie is going to break the audiences hearts.
when Gaga said "lets get out of here" maybe they put on a prison show for the prisoners or something and devise a prison escape strategy. In my opinion, this film is not a musical genre
Agustin nailed exactly how i felt about the first one. it kept trying to say something and then just didn’t. i feel that the director was either scared to commit, or doesn’t believe in those things at all. either way, it completely ruined the first movie for me. hopefully this one is different.
Not saying the first movie was bad but that’s not the Joker, and that’s definitely not Harley. Maybe they should’ve just named them new characters, would’ve been better imo.
I didn't have a problem with Joker. I had a problem with the Joker fans who treated it as some sort of manifesto. Blaming society over individual agency. And I'm concerned they're not going to be exploring Joker's mental abuse of Harley in favor of making her the cheerleader of his self-pity.
I am similar to Agustin, the first Joker didn't do much for me but I do want to see this because I loved Lady Gaga & Harley Quinn and I am looking forward to her performance.
You really can't watch these Joker movies as DC Comics Batman & The Joker movies. They're independent stories with independent characters, that draw inspiration from said comics, but are not connected to nor representative of said comics. Holding onto the idea of them being Joker Comics movies is only going to give you Disappointing Sequel Syndrome, where you aren't fairly analyzing/judging the films on their own merits, because you're so busy comparing them to your preconceived notions of what you thought they'd be.

They should top off the trilogy with him meeting Batman in the final film. Make it a horror like Predator or something.
Adam tired off comics adaptations but AT thé same Time get mad when someone make something New outta his favorite character...this is is crazy 😂😂😂😂
What?
Can’t fn wait!
It reminds me of the movie "sucker punch "
👀
when Gaga said
"lets get out of here" maybe they put on a prison show for the prisoners or something and devise a prison escape strategy.
In my opinion, this film is not a musical genre
They didn't like the first one, wtf
Agustin nailed exactly how i felt about the first one. it kept trying to say something and then just didn’t. i feel that the director was either scared to commit, or doesn’t believe in those things at all. either way, it completely ruined the first movie for me. hopefully this one is different.
Not saying the first movie was bad but that’s not the Joker, and that’s definitely not Harley. Maybe they should’ve just named them new characters, would’ve been better imo.
??
@MandyZor-El I totally agree. I hope it’s a good movie, but that’s not the Joker or Harley Quinn.
Have you seen the trailer for The People's Joker?
The fvck?
thumbs up before I even seen the vid lol
I didn't have a problem with Joker. I had a problem with the Joker fans who treated it as some sort of manifesto. Blaming society over individual agency. And I'm concerned they're not going to be exploring Joker's mental abuse of Harley in favor of making her the cheerleader of his self-pity.
I did not like the first Joker movie too 😬 it felt very pointless. Did not understand the message they want to get across with that movie.
Than u got to watch again it was pretty obvious
❤🎉😮😊❤
I am similar to Agustin, the first Joker didn't do much for me but I do want to see this because I loved Lady Gaga & Harley Quinn and I am looking forward to her performance.
😂
You really can't watch these Joker movies as DC Comics Batman & The Joker movies. They're independent stories with independent characters, that draw inspiration from said comics, but are not connected to nor representative of said comics. Holding onto the idea of them being Joker Comics movies is only going to give you Disappointing Sequel Syndrome, where you aren't fairly analyzing/judging the films on their own merits, because you're so busy comparing them to your preconceived notions of what you thought they'd be.
Why does Arthur soind like Winnie the Pooh
🤔
Why it is so hard for americans to look for the pronunciation of Folie a deux on google? It's not like you live in the nature guys!!
