I'm surprised it seems they all thought Joker was just "okay" to "terrible" ... wasnt that like a critically acclaimed movie? How did the movie sour that much?
There were two distinct sides on the reception of the movie. A ton of people loved it, but a lot of people thought it was overrated.

@@s___e___b___72 It was nominated for best picture that year, among other awards it got, and has an 8.4 on IMDB (which is very high for IMDB. I don't use twitter so I literally have no idea what you're talking about. It's a highly rated movie, don't know what to tell you. Everything has "haters" if you look hard enough.
They just don't know art and has no clue.

Joker was a mix of taxi driver and the king of comedy. Great Scorsese films blended together for an interesting take on mental health and insanity.
Joker 2 is gonna be a new take on New York New York Scorsese’s only musical which could be argued is his weakest film.

Barrett thinking it doesn't represent mental health well is crazy to me, it's a time piece and it does it perfectly for when it's set.
From a guy here with an assortment of mental health issues I have to deal with daily too. If it was a show about the last 10 years I would be there with him.
Yours is a great perspective and I agree. I think Barrett may have the opinion that the Joker is not a great depiction of mental health because most mental health conditions don't cause murderous violence, so maybe he thinks it stigmatizes mental health in that way?

Unfortunately, I have see this happen to people due to the area I live in, might not be as “dramatic” as the movie puts it, but it’s definitely a realistic take on the very harsh reality the of what a person can go through and how they deal with their illness.

This is not even a true narration from Arthur, he’s just been telling a story to his therapist and then killed her at the end the movie. He made us feel bad for him.

Facts. That little card that he shows people has been such a helpful idea for me with my social anxiety issues.
Barret was spot on. As a guy who also deals with these issues, I find it insane that you find any merit in the movie and what it has to "say". Which is nothing of consequence. lol
@@LateGreatHenryit isn't the same for everyone. As someone that also struggles with OCD and schizophrenia, i can assure you many scenes portrayed it well. Specially how it is ignored by the people that are supposed to help you. Remember not all mental illneses are the same or affect people the same way.
