    Just FYI, the German sniper being shot though the scope (Saving Private Ryan) is based on what Hancock did in reality.

      @Longhauler85 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      The "bullet through the scope" scene in part 1 of this video was from the 1993 movie "Sniper" with Tom Berenger. I'm sure that was based on Hathcocks' shot as well.

    Just a little information you don’t hear the shot before the bullet hits you. It takes two seconds to travel. It probably takes 10 seconds for the sound to reach you.

    The guy on the rock wouldn't have heard the shot as the bullet would have been traveling faster than the speed of sound.

    I noticed your look, James, when the French were mentioned about leaving Vietnam. I'm not sure if you know or not, but Vietnam was a French colony from the 1850s to the 1950s. The French had their own Vietnam war, called the First Indochina War (1946-1954). The French were defeated during the battle of Dien Bien Phu (1954), and French President Charles de Gaulle warned US President John F Kennedy in 1961 that Vietnam would be a "bottomless military and political swamp." But his advice went unheeded. America started getting involved in Vietnam because of fear of Communism prevailing in the country.
    There's a deleted scene from the movie "Apocalypse Now," titled "French Plantation" here on TH-cam. If you watch it with subtitles on, its a fascinating scene of a French family having stayed behind after France left Indochina, chiding America's decision to be in Vietnam.

    That M2 50 caliber machine gun weighs 84 pounds. With the tripod it weighs 128 pounds. They didn't use it with infantry. They used it in vehicles like the Jeep, 2 1/2 ton truck, and on static fortifications. In WW2 and Korea it was transported by infantry - my grandfather was part of a heavy weapons unit in Germany in 45.

    Someone probably mentioned it in the comments, but in "Saving Private Ryan" When "Jackson" (the American sniper) takes out the German sniper in the bell tower shooting through his scope into this head .. that was a nod to what Carlos "White Feather" Hathcock did in Vietnam.

    That shot has since been broken twice. Still like Nick said that shot stood for about 40 years. That female Russian sniper he mentions is the fifth currently deadliest sniper in history by order of kills. The video I sent you in part 1, I think, she was ranked as the 3rd on the list. The book One Shot, One Kill is a book written by the guys who started the Marine Corps Scout/Sniper program. It features several of Carlos’ stories including the scope shot and the one of him taking out the general from the field. Nick didn’t mention it but during that crawl he came eye to eye with a snake and couldn’t move until the snake left so he wasn’t bitten.

    He was good, yes. But it is an American-centric view that he is the best sniper ever. For the one who holds that title, check out Simo Hayha... The White Death. For all the Americans who will respond, I am not degrading his accomplishments. But he wasn't the best.
    Edit: 542 confirmed kills with iron sights... so the scope wouldn't give away his position.

    Not even close to being the best sniper.
    Check out Simo Häyhä, known as The White Death. He was a Finnish sniper who had over 400 confirmed kills in less than 4 months, in the dead of winter, against Soviet invaders.
    He used a rifle with an iron sight, as opposed to a scope, to present a smaller target and would bury himself in snowbanks as camoflauge. He averaged 5 per day, in temperatures anywhere from - 4° to -40° below zero.
    He contiued until a Russian bullet hit him in the face, shattering his jaw. The war ended a week later.
    Simo Häyhä would go on to live another 62 years, spending most of his working life farming and hunting moose.

      @@chrisvibz4753 Because leftist do in a victim mentality! They never show how much all Americans no matter their race, religion, ethnicity came here and fought for a better life and literally were willing to die for it. It's not shown in the msm how much better their lives were here from where they came from. And today the media wants to turn all these people into victims and tell them they can't make it here in this free society. And that's bs and evil when they try to separate Americans along ethnic, race, religious, or gender lines. At the risk of speaking for someone else, I think that was her point. At least that's how I interpreted it, especially since so many were listed, not just one or two. With all the different hyphenations, the common thread was...American. And keep in mind, the US doesn't corner the market on terrific militaries, though ours may be the strongest. I've worked with a number of different nationalities, and all have been top notch.

    • @conniekungfu206

      @chrisvibz4753 Because America is the most ethnically and racially diverse country in the world, and every single group has contributed to this country and literally died for this country. That was my point. Nothing racist about that. I'm paying tribute to that. You are reading my comment very wrong.
