Habitual Linecrosser, a friend of the Fat Electrician, just posted a similar video yesterday of US vs UK. Check it out if you want. Btw, there is a 99% chance this won't ever happen. We're too close now as "family" and allied. 🇺🇲🇬🇧

As an island the British are vulnerable to a blockade. The Germans tried that in WWII, but were thwarted by the Americans whose liberty ships supplied the nation to keep up the fight against Nazis. You can't fight without food and fuel, so a blockade would bring down the UK.

Yup. Those are usually by invitation or treaty with foreign allied nations and most are actually pretty small. They help a lot with shared training, logistics and force projection (plus, quite a few are shared bases with the local countries military.)

One thing to remember while watching these kinds of videos is, the US never uses all of it's capabilities when in war. For example, we "could" have wiped Afghanistan off the map entirely, but they try to limit the civilian casualties to a minimum after WW2.

    • @JPMadden
      @JPMadden 5 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +2

And that's one of the tragedies of wars like the one in Afghanistan. It's harder to win a limited war but civilians still die. It's difficult to not feel that everything was wasted -- lives, money, and energy.

At 7:50 your mom is 100% right. we(america) keeps its planes in huge yards in desert areas because humidity aka water is terrible for metal because of rust. But these yards are called "boneyards" because its mostly retired aircraft. They re-service the parts from the old aircraft to use in the still functioning and in service aircraft. Most jets in service are kept in hangars near the airstrip to protect from the elements :)

Don't forget that a large portion of the British military equipment comes from the US. In a war, the US would just just cut off replacement parts and gradually the equipment would be useless.

I think Europe should have simulated wars with the U.S. where the U.S. cuts off logistics and intelligence with them and see how well they could defend themselves from an adversary. How they would stage attacks and repel them.

The Royal Navy was the largest and most powerful navy in the world from some time in the 1700s until 1943. The U.S. Navy inherited the job of "global policeman" from them. The Royal Navy maintained a large fleet for some years after World War 2, but the UK couldn't afford it at the time and doesn't need to spend that much now, since we in the U.S. have given a blank check (cheque) to our military.

You mentioned where do we store all the air crafts for a carrier group. They are normally sent to U.S. naval air station's around the world. Carriers never come into port with any aircraft actually on them. They need to be underway to launch fighter jets. Same with the British navy. We learned a hard lesson December 7th 1941. Pearl harbor the U.S. navy has been spread out ever since. I live in a navy town. Sometimes British ships as well as Carriers and other vessels from other friendly nations come to America for training. They always send their fighter squadrons to land at the Naval Air station usually a couple days before the carrier arrives.

Never underestimate what Could happen. It definitely could happen. Look at what US government did to its own people with the first amendment or the second amendment. No one thought that could ever happen but they silence or cancel American citizens everyday for information they dont like. So saying this couldn't happen is not correct. Anything could happen. Not saying I ever want it to happen but it most certainly could

As a retired US Army Paratrooper, the LAST army I’d want to fight is the British Army… Yes, the British Army is small, but it punches way above its weight class. I do not fear the Russians, Chinese or the Iranians, since they can’t even match or think of matching the British Army and their fighting abilities AND spirit. Seriously, the United States and the United Kingdom will never come to blows since we share a common history, culture and a significant percentage of bloodlines since most Americans have some amount of British blood…. In reality, an attack on the UK is an attack on the US and the world knows this.

Meanwhile, I assume the U.S. would remain unscathed. More interesting would be how the U.S., the UK and our mutual allies would stand against threats from the likes of Russia, China and North Korea.

This is a great example of why things would be very different if Russia and NATO went to war.
All the same things that would happen to the UK here is what would happen to Russia (only with all of NATO's equipment, not just the US's).
Only then would NATO ground troops get involved, with the protection of full air superiority.
EDIT: I'd like to add my vote for you guys showing some of the WWII stuff still on your island. It's unlikely I'll ever get out there in person.

Thankfully we are both friends, and this will almost certainly never happen. You're right about the investment in your own military though. That's really been the reason (and sometimes the excuse) for why we've built up so much. We've always wanted to be overwhelmingly powerful in defense of ourself and our friends, so that no one would try anything. We learned in the early days after we joined the fight during WW2 what being unprepared for a war starting would cost us.
It would be great to see y'all build up your plane industry again. The RAF has such a marvelous history, and has flown such legendary aircraft. Y'all should continue that, IMO.
