    What are your biggest home gym mistakes?

      Make sure you have adequate space to do workouts, when i first started i cleared just barely enough space to performs lifts, but when i had to change weight or move this and that, it was a huge hassle, can make you frustrated and just end the workout.

      No mirror. But your home gym is crazy. I have a pretty big garage but you have a literal gym.

      @@Silverhands thanks! It's almost half of my parent's basement. I forgot the exact square footage of the gym area. It's around 800-900.

      I got the powerblock sport 50s but luckily they are adjustable

      My biggest mistake is I have a small space and I bought the bench that came with my rack but when not in use it’s in the way so I just bought a cheap one that folds up to use in the rack…..but I’m gonna keep the one I got and set it to the side cause it has a leg extension and a preacher curl attachment

    I wouldn't classify a functional trainer in the same category as a leg press. There a few dozen movements that can be accomplished with a functional trainer and it can also take the place of dumbells. And it takes relatively the same space as a cage.

      True. You're right!

    rowing machine + body lift bl1 + reistance bands for squats = done (for most). Maybe add dumbbells, medicine ball etc too if you figure out you want it.

      I would argue dumbbells are the very first purchase for an effective home gym.

    If you don't do the rogue shipping deals, I've found that the shipping shown in the cart is actually more than if you buy the parts separately LOL... So rogue might be an outlier for buying all your stuff at once unless you spend more than $5k, or get a squat rack with $75 max shipping deals.

      Oh wow. I've never noticed that being the case for me. I'll have to check that out.

    Not sure about the nicer equipment retaining value - I think that might be a bit of a current era fluke - going forward and pre-covid the most expensive stuff generally sells at a big discount just like the cheap stuff. If there is a recession people will be selling all of their toys and even the rogue stuff will start going cheap. However, because it is quality you may end up keeping it a very long time (unlike the cheap stuff)

    • @RyanTreadaway

      That may be true to an extent but better equipment will always retain value better than cheap equipment.

      @@RyanTreadaway yeah the cheap stuff can go to zero sometimes, or practically nothing

    I forgot you added the functional trainer. A home gym mistake I hear a lot is when people say they miss the drive to the gym as a transition. Just go through the psyche up process on a short walk or run.

    • @RyanTreadaway
      @RyanTreadaway  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I struggled with that when we first started our home gym. The only thing that kept me working out at home was just the extra 20-30m I saved from not going to the gym. I eventually got used to it and don't need a psyche up anymore.
